I got word about this player being released: ESPN SC NFL - Raiders LB Rolando McClain (1st-rd pick in 2010) informed he will be released on Thursday - Clayton Your thoughts?
A lot of needy teams ahead of us on the claims list. Will be very lucky if he makes it to us ... and that is even if they want to bother placing a claim
Remmber people being high on him two years ago in the draft. What happened? Also, wasn;t he more of a thumper and not so fast? Sounds more like a fit for the Steeler's D than for a 4-3.
Interesting. Some weird busts over the last few years that were supposed to be sure things: Aaron Curry, Rolando McClain, the late Gaines Adams.
McClain isn't a bad player but he isn't going to replace Burnett or Dansby, and I don't know you pay the money and get a less position flexible replacement for Misi.
It is kind of weird, he was really good and now he barely plays. I don't think it's a lack of talent, maybe some off field stuff. I don't watch much of the raiders so I'm not positive.
no thanks ! got the talent but prefers not to use it !! hasnt got it between the ears i am afraid = "fruitcake" i pass
Held some guy down and shot his gun next to his head while he was in town for a weekend for his grandpas funeral.
Ain't happening. As long as someone with some name recognition gets released there'll always be somebody wanting to pick him up, scheme specific or not.
He was a perfect type of player for saban. Just line up and play. He didn't need to worry about offensive schemes or anything. Just run to the middle and tackle.
A local coach from around Decatur just said it on finheaven. Said McClain didn't make a peep while he had Saban looking over his shoulder at Alabama but every time he goes home he falls in with the same thug crowd and gunshots soon follow (hence the arrest for allegedly sticking a gun in someone's face). Evidently McClain played his entire senior year of high school on house arrest. Didn't know that.
There's an incredible amount of inanity and hyperbole involved in draft coverage and analysis. I think it's pretty funny with Dorsey that he's the opposite of what you'd expect. He's pretty good at the 2-gap DE role and the run defense aspects of it, and pretty awful in the 3-technique pass rushing/Nickel package end of it. I think it almost would have been better for the Chiefs to said **** it and let him get big and play Nose Tackle at this point.
I would say that is a pretty good reason to allow someone else the pleasure of dealing with him. We just got rid of a couple of 'head cases' this year or so... so why jump right into the same fracas. Either pass on him, or hire the Marine DI that frightens R. Lee Ermey as his personal baby sitter, with Guido and Bubba, complete with baseball bat and an electric fence collar, and keep a signed set of waiver papers in his personnel file.
Wasn't on the board when the Dolphins drafted, but he was on the short list of players I was hoping Miami would draft in 2010. Glad that didn't happen! When will the Raiders ever learn how important it is to take character into account when building a team?
