Per a Re-Tweet from Ben Volin: Perhaps they just fear their depth now that Long's gone for the season, but usually when you increase the pay of someone on the practice squad it means you quite like the potential of a guy that some team is attempting to poach. Could be a name to keep an eye on in the next year or two.
He may not be good enough yet for our roster, which is why he's on the practice squad. He might be good enough to be the 53rd guy on someone else's though. Usually you don't triple a guy's pay on the practice squad unless you really don't want him to get signed away by someone.
it wont happen but i`d rather put jerry at RT and play the rookie samuda, for me jerry is better suited to tackle [better pass protector than run blocker] and lets have a look at the young guy , imo our guards have been awful all year
Only if the player wants to sign. A PS player is not obligated to sign with another team if they make him an offer.
Time to grab some more offensive linemen in the draft for the 4th straight year and only 1 of them amount to anything.
Or we could stray away from that winning strategy and go the FA route. It all depends on Martin. Can he handle LT? If so, I say we poach Vollmer from the Pats to play on the right.
Are you certain Martin won't amount to anything considering he's only 3/4 the way through his rookie year?
Man, I am ready for a new GM. With all our picks. All our FAs. Our cap space. If we stay on the Ireland Plan, we'll get one decent player out of those picks, and bring in a free agent who plays as an NFL average level. I'll probably feel differently by tomorrow though and be extolling Ireland for finding Jones, Wake and Bess, plus getting Tannehill.
Uhh if we let Long go and move Martin over we still need a new RT in addition to new guards. Also my statement was more to the fact every year we nail at least 1 olinemen but miss on theres we draft. Not that Long was the only one because Pouncey has been one of the best.
