How about Tannehill today? Yes, it is only the Jaguars, but he still played an excellent game. He moved well in the pocket and stepping up into it when needed to avoid pressure.. which one thing I think he has made huge strides on over this season, and has been something he has continually improved upon. W/o his trusty slot WR in Bess, Tannehill seemed to still be comfortable out there, completing passes to 8 different receivers. He made some very nice throws on the run and also some into some tight windows... including 2 fantastic throws that should have been touchdowns but were dropped (Thigpen and Hartline).

On top of that, we are now starting to utilize Tannehill's athleticsm. Tannehill had 8 carries for 52 yards and continues to look comfortable running out there. A couple times I expected him to slide, but he easily ran past or made a small juke to get past a defender and gain additional yards.

Yes, it is the Jaguars... so you do have to view it with some perspective. But we also are surrounding him with the equivalent in weapons around him, especially with Bess out. But regardless... it is still great to see the kid have some great games like this and show what he is capable of.

Great to see him run, great to see him at least try to throw down the field.

He had a great game, Hartline topped 1k yds etc

The play that I really liked was where stepped up in the pocked looked like he was going to scramble stopped and hit Fasano with a laser. The throw was a bit behind Fasano but he also made a great catch.

It was against the Jags, sure, but he looked really good out there today.

Seriously, had to stick that in there in Tannehill's thread?

BTW, Hartline's 1k yards is a product of a passing game that will happen regardless of who is on the field combined with no depth behind him or starter to challenge his job as we saw today with no Davone Bess. I love how people treat it as if the passing game would entirely disappear if Hartline weren't any good as a starter.

Mike Thomas was cut by Jax this year. When forced to be a starter for 11 games in 2010 Thomas had 820 yards and 4 TDs. Just some perspective.

Btw, when was the last time Tannehill threw an INT? Say what you will about the rookie, he sure isn't a reckless thrower. Less than 1 Int per game as a rookie with all his passing attempts, that's something positive to build on.

Just stop already. We know you don't like Hartline.

Congrats to Tanny, I was hoping he would have a great game today and he delivered! Hope he finishes the season strong.

Glad he played well. Let's see it two games in a row now. The last two months have been Tannehill alternating good performances with bad ones. Need to see some consistency outta him.

That's exactly how others and I feel when we have to ridiculously hear week after week how great of a starter Hartline is and how Tannehill is the one holding him back. When people stop posting that inflated nonsense I'll stop responding to it. I'd actually like to be able to appreciate Hartline for the quality complimentary player he is, but that's quite difficult while having to argue against some of this lunacy.

Fixed this statement for you with the underlined part.... for the sake of accuracy and all.

The funny thing is that I agree with that statement. I do not like him as a No. 1 receiver, I'd rather have him as a 2 or 3. But he got 1000 yards and to just ignore that or act like he didn't earn it is ridiculous.

But this isn't a thread to talk about this.

I'm anxious to see how he plays against Buffalo next week. This will be the first time he's had the chance to play a team twice (Jets game doesn't count since he got hurt so early).

I don't want to ignore Hartline's 1k yards, but I almost have to in principle alone b/c of how much a few posters are using his yardage stats as an argument to qualify him as great starting receiver. 1k yards is truly a nice job by a substitute starter, and I'd like to be able to appreciate it as such. My last post on the topic.

Agreed. And Buffalo runs the scheme that Tannehill has needed the most work with. No real blitzes... just standard 4 man rush and man coverage (Wanny style). It creates smaller passing windows. Last time, they were able to get pressure with only 4, allowing them to be pretty successful against him.

The line needs to play better this time around... and let Ryan make them pay for only sending a 4 man rush.

Good point, and he hasn't made a lot of bone-headed plays. Most of his picks came off of tipped balls or trying to bring us back into games late in the 4th quarter and forcing a ball. Say what you will but having Tannehill play this whole season is going to pay dividends next year and the following year.

I think my favorite throw of todays game was the one on third down and goal (it was by the goal line anyway) were Hartline ran a little in and Tannehill rifled it in there between the linebacker and the CB. He had a hell of an arm to get it in there fast enough and pretty good accuracy to fit it into that small area. Hartline couldn't hold onto it (the DB was all over him) and it was incomplete, but that throw made me say, "wow."

I would love to get Tannehill a WR that would stretch the field. Terrance Williams from Baylor comes to mind.

Even if Tannehill throws 2 TDs per game next 2 weeks the TD production is still going to be a disappointment this year.

BUT finishing strong is important. If he can have a couple more games like this to close the season I'm sure it will make a world of difference for next season.

Loved what Tannehill did today. Looked very solid. Anybody else find it interesting how well Cousins did with the Skins today? I know there has been a lot of debate recently about how RG3 and Luck have done well because of the talent around them. To give a little more life to that theory Cousins who, excuse me to toot my own horn I found to be the most impressive at the combine, went for 329 yards and 2 TD's today. Anybody else feel like this says more about the Redskins than it does RG3?

He's now just a tad above average in comparison to the 27 QBs who have played as rookies since 2004.

That's not so bad. If he finishes out the year strong, he could get his QB rating in the low 80s.

It's not bad at all, but remember that he's playing in the same system he did in college, which I imagine is a rarity among rookie QBs. Then again, his level of rawness is probably a rarity, as well. Most guys as raw as he are holding a clipboard in their rookie years.

Good to see Tannehill playing a good game this week. It comes with a note though, I didn't realize Jacksonville's pass rush was so bad. They were saying only 14 sacks on the year. That's as much as Wake alone has all season. When there's no threat of pass rush it kind of skews the game a little bit.

Still, I hope this trend continues, it sure would be nice.

Would love 15 Td's out of him, seriously.

He's at 11 now, not unreachable and what Henne did in 09 in 12 Td's caused a lot of hope to be born in us fans.

THill is going to surpass Henne's 60%/12 Td's/14 int's/2808 yds w/o the running game Henne had that year.

    THill: 10 Td's/12 int's/58%/2709 yds

    2 Td's no int's he's there
