With the (what I believe to be false) rumors surfacing of Stanton being traded and reading this article, it got me to wondering what is Stanton worth? We once traded Miguel for 2 of the game's top prospects, and Dickey did just get traded for some great prospects. But what would Stanton be worth? He is a proven all star, I think he could possibly command more than any player before if traded. So, what would trade scenarios can you think of? Hopefully he stays, of course.

If we trade Stanton....I will NEVER watch another Marlin game until the team is sold.

Trading Stanton would hurt but I will never stop supporting Miami. I love baseball.

We would reach new levels of suck if we trade Stanton, though.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. He was not going to re sign here. Jeffrey Loria is a black eye on the city of Miami.

I think he will if they just offer a contract. That's what's getting lost in all of this. They have yet to offer him a contract. No one knows why. They just haven't.

Playing devil's advocate here but perhaps the team is worried about his long term health with concerns about his knee? Since they have his medicals maybe they know something we don't? Of course Stanton is still 4 years away from being a FA, there's really no rush to give him a long term deal yet. If I were a GM/owner I'd certainly be pushing to sign him up long term, offer him a deal similar to Longoria's first one, but I do understand why they would want to hold off for now.

As far as what the Marlins could get back for a 23 year old power hitting OFer with 4 years left under contract? Probably the moon, but yeah he would probably bring back the opposing team's two or three best top prospects and one or two throw ins. So while the Miguel Cabrera trade didn't ultimately work out, something like that as Miller/Maybin were considered very highly regarded prospects in all of baseball at the time.

In my eyes it would actually be supporting them. Trying to send a message to the FO that they are not wanted, so that they stop hurting the team.

More likely that Bozo the Art Clown is more worried about the long term money concerns.

Well he will get traded it's just a matter of when. He will not be here by the end of the 2014 season and that is almost a guarantee.

I know and it's ****** up. Im sick of this "rebuilding" and "When this talent grows we will be a serious contender". No F**K that. It isnt the plan at all. It's "Lets develop talent and trade it for peanuts so we don't have to spend any money and can rake it in"

F**K our ownership. MLB needs to step in and take the team from our worthless POS owner.

Barry Jackson reported that six offers were made to buy the Marlins off Bozo. One of the offers came from Jeb Bush.

Woah. I didn't know it was six offers. Nice to know the Marlins are wanted, even though he won't sell.

    Pretty good question.

If so, I imagine he'd sell. He definitely can't afford to keep it.

If Loria dies suddenly, I imagine MLB takes nominal ownership and looks for a buyer. In the meantime, Samson basically runs the entire franchise as a result of being the highest ranked person in management.

Jeb Bush would be pretty interesting as an owner.

Even if it was/is true, money ALWAYS talks. If he got offered a 10 year 200 million dollar deal for example I doubt he would turn that down. A long time ago Vernon Wells said he'd never resign with Toronto until they made him that huge offer. Anything any one says otherwise is nonsense.

So. Uh. How 'bout that Loria? Honestly, I have no words. Thankfully, he's too greedy to die owning the team, and he's already 72 years old.

I like the odds of him selling the team before Tom Brady's contract is up.

I liked how he described calling Jose Reyes' agent to inform him of being traded as a "courtesy".

Loria put out a full page newspaper ad. The contents are a joke and not worth repeating, but he basically deflected blame for everything.

Then he actually talked to reporters in Jupiter for spring training and was asked about Jose Reyes' comments that, two days before he was traded, Loria told him he wasn't being traded and that he should buy a house in South Florida. Loria said that was "inaccurate" and that four days before Reyes was traded, Reyes was "late" to an event dinner (who cares whether he was late, Bozo?) in which he told Loria that he was looking to buy a house, and Loria provided the name of a realtor.

Loria also said in the ad that he accepts blame for decisions he made but did not say which he made. The reporters asked him what he takes blame for, and he said Heath Bell... then went on to say that if Heath Bell's father hadn't been dying, then Bell would have been what Loria described as "the best closer in the game", as he had been--according to Loria--in San Diego.

    Yeah.

Edit: Also, about Jose Reyes, Loria described calling Reyes' agent to let him know that Reyes was traded as "a courtesy".
