Bought a cheap guitar online thinking it would be good for this game. Don't actually own the game yet. Have any of you played this game? What are your thoughts? Worth buying?

For those who don't know what I'm talking about it's like Guitar Hero but uses a real guitar. Seems like it could be fun and might actually teach me how to play the guitar a little bit. I can play bass, but not 6 string...

I have a friend that loves it and uses it to supplement guitar lessons. The one thing I like about it is it adjusted the difficulty mid song up and down based on how well you were doing.

I haven't played it, but read a bunch of opinions. Sounds like it's an interesting way to get into playing and certainly decent practice, but it's not a good alternative to actual lessons if you really want to learn to play guitar. It's a good supplement to lessons though.

wow... I haven't played my guitar in years and this might be a great way to get back into playing. I think my amp is history, I was even thinking of buying a new guitar and amp to get back into playing. This is a nice alternative... and certainly cheaper. I think my guitar needs new strings but that's nothing :wink2: Thanks for bringing it up MB, I hadn't even heard of this product.

I hadn't heard of it either Paul. One of the woot websites was having a sale on guitar kits with basically a practice amp and decent guitar for 48 bucks. Reading up on it people said it was perfect for "Rocksmith" and that's why I started looking into it.

I think it's been out for about a year and I guess there's deals on it every so often. The cord that plugs the guitar into your console or PC and the game usually is about 60 bucks but I've seen there have been past deals for $30 so that's kind of what I'm waiting for.

The newest version of the game works for guitar and bass guitar. The advertisement says "literally any guitar" as long as it has the standard plug in. I'm an amateur bass guitarist myself but I'm more interested in learning a thing or 2 about the 6 string. If the game is fun and teaches me something maybe I'll take some real lessons. But honestly, I'd be fine with just a fun game experience I don't necessarily need to become Slash...

They do . You may have to DLC it though. The PAL version came with it all in one bundle as an incentive as we had to wait an extra year for it.

The song list sucks so I stayed away from it. Too much trendy radio music.
Use the resources on the net to learn. Playing guitar isn't a game folks.

Kind of cool but mine was freezing mid game a lot so I just quit playing it. It's probably best for people who can already play at least some. The song list is a little weak IMO.

Yeah i do. The song list could always be better but it's fun. The only song I've got the bonuses for is STP Vasoline. Now that's an easy song  Once you get bonuses for a song you get tones that you can play in your amp, which IMO is the coolest part of the game. It's free play, and you just select your pedals. I'm impressed by the technology.

And I'm nowhere near a good guitar player. I never learned to play. Never took lessons. Don't know notes/chords. That part of the game is difficult for me but there is an area where you can practice notes/chords. Power riffs and power chords... the only thing I could ever do half right.

Finally got a deal on this at 29.99 and it's the guitar / bass version with the chord. Haven't played much, but really cool so far. Hell, if for nothing else it's an awesome guitar tuner. Mini games are fun, and it's actually teaching me some good techniques. I played Bass for a few years so plucking the single notes is not as tough. I'll have to see if I can learn some chords from it.
