My girlfriend wants to get a tattoo and she wants me to get one with her. I have contemplated getting a tattoo for 2 years now. If i get a tattoo it would be a Miami Dolphins tattoo on my shoulder blade. My question is, does anyone that have a tattoo regret geting it afterwards?
Only thing I can say. I dont care for wimmins with tattoo's, especially the "Tramp Stamp". I have one on my Left shoulder. No regrets...
yeah if you're gonna let her get a tattoo, make sure it is on the ankle or her shoulder blade. Other than that it might be ok to get one in the front right where the panties would cover it. Otherwise, I'm not a fan of the female tattoo. Just say no to the tramp stamp (aka target spot)
I have alot of work done and do not regret any of it. As long as it has meaning to you and represents something special you should never regret it. If you question it at all though, simply do not do it because it's a lifelong commitment, unless you plan on spending 3 or 4 times as much getting it lasered off, and even that won't remove certain colors. I use to work at a shop when going to college so if you have any questions just PM me and I can possibly help you out.
yeah i don't know if i'd use the excuse of my gf getting a tattoo as my reasoning to get one.... if you DO want to get one, get one when you're good and ready. not when your gf is.
Well this doesn't have much to do with the GF. I was thinking about getting it before she mentioned something, however i do have my doubts so i think im going to hold off until im 100% sure because i dont want to regret it. Thanks guys
I've got 4 and no, I don't regret any of them. In fact, I don't even think about them usually. My only caution would be that it can be kind of addictive. The only reason I don't have more is because they're expensive. Just make sure you go somewhere reputable. It's best if you can see some of his/her other work so you know the quality you can expect. Evidently, quite a few aren't fans of art on women. I like it. My wife has a couple and they look good. My own opinion is that those things on peoples' ankles shouldn't even be called a tattoo. One more caveat; please don't let them put her name on you. And yeah you should definitely wait until you're sure it's what you want to do.
yea bro. its not the type of thing to be on the fence about. you need to know 100% that you want it, and know exactly what you want. dont let her talk you into getting one against your better judgement...and dont get a tattoo with her name in it...no matter what you do! unless you guys are married, that should not be an option.
Society has accepted them as fairly mainstream so you're no longer likely to face any kind of job or employment difficulty for having a tattoo unless it is on your face or something. So above the "why" is what's important. If it's a good enough reason for you then you won't regret it. I have one tattoo. I considered one for about 15 years before I did it. My main problem was that I never had anything that I knew would be permanent in my life. The divorce rate is too high to consider a marriage as permanent no matter how I might feel now. I could have gone with the Dolphins or my alma mater or various other considerations but I recognize that they all could have fluctuating importance in my life at different times. The "why" that finally resonated with me was the birth of my son. I knew I would always be a father. I only had it for a few years now but I doubt that I will ever regret it.
I have six and don't regret a one. Go for it bro...you'll always be a Dolphan, so it's not like you'd regret it.
Maybe where you live it is bro. No where I have worked, or been has found them "acceptable" if they are in public view especially if you work in anything customer service. I've been with the same girl for along long time, but I still am hesitant to get matching tats, or whatever, but thats just me. Not that I'm going anywhere...but.
Well that is another reason why i would get it on my shoulder blade, this way it won't ever interfer with a job. Anohter reason id consider getting it even if i wasn't sure is just beucase it would be a dolphins logo and i know they will be an important part of my life til i die(football is and will always be #1). Oh ya and btw would never ever consider getting a girls named tattooed on me
the key is to get the name in some sort of tribal, or other surrounding art. this way, you can just color it in, erasing the name...god forbid you had to.
Most acceptable tattoos aren't in public view. For a guy, most jobs (outside of lifeguard or something similar) require at least a shirt with short sleeves. Most guy's tattoos are on their upper bodies thus they are effectively covered in most professional situations. As long as you're not sporting tats on your face, hands or full sleeve it will probably be deemed acceptable. Girl's tattoos tend to range lower on the body. Many are in private areas so they are out of view in professional situations. Lower back and ankles are usually acceptable.
tribal.... one of my favorite lines from "It's Always Sunny...." Dennis: (sarcasm) Why do you wear sleeveless shirts? To show off your tats? Nice tatto, Mac... Mac: It's tribal, dude! Dennis: Oh yeah? What tribe were you in?
I always thought those tribal symbols were kind of humorous anyway. You don't know what you might be saying. For all you know you could be walking around with some set of symbols that say "your daughter's face looks like a squirrel's butt."
I read a story somewhere, where some guy got a chinese symbol he thought said tough warrior, but in actuallity said something along the line of kick my arse I'm a wuss, so he got laughed at alot by chinese people but could never figure out why until someone asked him why he would want to get a tattoo that said that.
