Ross bidding on LA stadium?

Re-up this thread when Ross is actually bidding on the team. Him making money off a stadium another team plays in and using it to pay our own players seems Boss to me. I mean....he's got to get his money from somewhere. It dang sure aint coming from you Dade/Broward residents ticket sales!

 

It's a money move for Ross, that's all. Even if his Dolphins are not in teh SB, he could make a mint by hosting the game in his new stadium. Imagine having a SB in Miami one year and a SB in LA the next. Both years he makes a ton of money. Not to mention leasing it out during the regular football season to the new team going there (hopefully JAX). The concerts, soccer, etc....

 

AEG owns management rights to a lot of stadiums that professional sports franchises play in. The NFL has strict rules when it comes to ownership and even the smallest hint of conflict of interest. Hence why owners have to sell team stakes in franchises that aren't even in the NFL if they are in another city etc. Owners can only own other franchises IF a) they are in their NFL market or b) isn't in an NFL market

While it's not on the level of owning a team in another city AEG owns/manages stadiums in 20 of the top 50 U.S. markets. Including the home of the Raiders/Athletics, Heat, Spurs, Nets, Bobcats, Clippers, Warriors, Devils, Coyotes, Grizzlies, Penguins.

Not to mention they own performing venues in casino's in Vegas and yah it becomes obvious that Ross will be selling if he wins this bid. There have been rumors Ross was looking for buyers before...this just kind of cements it.

 

Exactly. The conflict of interest is inherent and would never be allowed. If Ross or MSG (another bidder) win then the Dolphins/Knicks are getting sold.

And frankly, I imagine Dolan may be looking into selling the Knicks anyway. If the Sacramento Kings are worth $530 million, then what are the Knicks worth? A billion?

Why would any owner move a team from a market they know for a fact can be huge when the team wins to a market that has shown to blow regardless of the team's success? Has that ever happened?

 

Because one city will give that owner hundreds of millions of tax payer money, while the other one won't.

Depends. But either way, thats where the owner is making most of his money.

 

Wait, so LA is saying if move your team here we'll give you 100s of millions of dollars? Isn't CA broke and have really high taxes?

 

Not sure they've exactly made any proposals yet, but that would be presumably what a city would do to steal an NFL franchise from another city.

 

I don't like Ross, but another change of ownership is instability this franchise does not need.

 

Don't understand how this matters. Owning a stadium and owning a team are 2 different things. And with all due respect because people are claiming this is a conflict of interest doesn't make it one. No one has still shown where this is an issue other then what they personally have written and said it is an issue. Where are the rules that make this an issue.

everyone has to pay their fair share so 11 - 12 % should be ok
