You see that because he's got game like Welker..and they might get rid of Welker..might being the key word, I doubt it though, I think Brady makes that call and Welker will be retained.

There's some grounds to looking at trends, but I think you're drawing conclusions that are inappropriately absolute based on pessimism rather than facts.
You can absolutely suggest that Ireland values certain things over others, but you can't suggest he will neglect a position out of a sense of philosophy. He hasn't disregarded wide receiver.

I sincerely doubt this type of WR is going to be a major focus of ours.
I would hope not as it's clear as day we need a talented speedster at the position.

Percy Harvin would of been a dolphin a few years back if not for the Viks taking him a few spots ahead of us. I don't think Ireland hates WR, he just takes BPA and need into consideration. Which has pushed potential WR's behind other players.

We have 5 picks in the first three rounds and what you listed (OL, DL and Secondary) are all MAJOR needs on this football team. We can draft as many receivers and tight ends as we want but if we don't address the offensive line it means nothing. You could roll Calvin Johnson, Fitz and Gronk out there, it doesn't mean **** al if Ryan Tannehill spends the day on his *** because the protection sucks.

Sign Greg Jennings, that mitigates the NEED to reach for a receiver because we have a big hole there. Signing Jennings (or Bowe or Wallace) changes everything. Ireland will be able to go BPA every round because we can use an infusion of talent at every position.

This fascination with the wide receiver position on this board as a cure for all our ills is maddening.

Maybe so. I think this year will tell us a lot about how much he values WR. It's an obvious need, we have extra picks and there are a lot of prospects available. If he waits past round two or 3 this year it'll be hard to explain.

You're swinging the pendulum too far in one direction, IMO. Yes, Tannehill's protection needs to improve. But we've already tried the "hey, let's toss a bunch of money and high draft picks at the OL" solution. The 2012 OL had the 1st, 15th, 42nd, 73rd, and another team's 81st overall picks in their respective drafts. At one point we had a combined ~$90 million in contract value between just two linemen.

We can't afford to let other positions deteriorate while we continue throwing resources at the same area. OL has been showered in attention for years. There needs to be more balance, IMO.

Disagreed. Signing Greg Jennings upgrades from Brian Hartline. That doesn't mitigate the need at WR; there's still a hole on the other side of the field and not enough quality depth waiting in the wings. The real fix at WR is either Jennings + another FA WR + high WR draft pick, or Jennings + two high WR draft picks. And that doesn't begin to deal with the emptiness at TE.

It's a mistake if they do take Swope. Just like Fuller.

Fuller was a UDFA on the practice squad. How can that be categorized as a mistake?

I think drafting him wouldn't just make Bess expendable. I think it would necessitate relinquishing his rights. A trade of course. Maybe the Lions.

Wrong and wrong. First, if he is taken at the right point, it is not a mistake, and secondly he is not just like Fuller.

Again, I'm not being pessimistic. This isn't about bashing Ireland.
I'm not saying he will neglect the positon, I'm saying he may not use a high pick on the position because he doesn't value the position like he does other positions. Positions where we also have big needs.

Not sure what you're getting all upset about.
I never said he shouldn't draft an OL or DL or CB.

He would replace Hartline IMO. He's 6’1” and 206 lbs, Swope should know most of the offense already from college. And the most important thing to me is he has a good relationship with Tannehill already. Something Tannehill had with Hartline.

Not if Brady's wife has a say. She thinks he has dropped very big passes the last two years that cost them a SB ring and a trip to the SB. I'm not sure tommy would be as supportive as he would have been two years ago.

Exactly, they could write an article about this for about every player in the NFL who is predicted to be drafted in the first six rounds.

And heaven help us, they will...because it'll get them web hits and message board threads created about them, etc.
