How does this play, or does it, against Austin's 4.25? Being satisfied, or leaning towards, Patterson at 12, does this in any way keep a rise by Austin and his promotors at bay?
To me, it doesn't. Patterson has shown he can play outside and has shown me the physical skills to create separation with his hands and make plays in tight coverage. Austin hasn't.
Wishful thinking on my part, we all know Ireland ain't got the balls to do that. he has no problem trading up for sorry *** Daniel Thomas tho
So you're saying he doesn't have the balls to trade up in the same breath you're criticizing him for... trading up. Well said!
I think Patterson had the day he needed to have. A 10'8" broad jump, 37" vertical, 4.37 in the 40 yard dash. He already had upward momentum and I think that's enough to maintain it. The only slight mark on it is the simple fact that so many guys ran even faster. I have 5 guys with faster unofficial times and 5 guys with faster "official" times (not the same 5). Marquise Goodwin ran a 4.25 (or possibly down to a 4.19) Tavon Austin ran a 4.25 Kenny Stills ran a 4.28 Markus Wheaton ran a 4.34 Denard Robinson ran a 4.34 That surprises me. Goodwin and Austin don't really surprise me, nor Wheaton really...but Robinson and Stills do. Yet, I probably shouldn't hold that against Cordarrelle. He's still a "freak". Austin and Goodwin are 5'9" (174 and 183 lbs). Robinson is 5'10" (199 lbs), Wheaton is 5'11" (189 lbs) and Stills is the tallest at 6'0" (194 lbs). Patterson is 6'2" and 216 lbs. That's freaky.
Takes two teams wanting to trade to make a trade. For every trade made, there are an untold number of proposed trades that never happen because the team cannot find a partner.
Does Thomas still play for Miami? Don't understand why anyone would call one of our players sorry ***.
I agree with this but won't cast stones. There were numerous times that I trashed the great name that is Marc Columbo.
I'm not a big fan of Daniel Thomas. He's been very unimpressive. Ireland makes some odd decisions at times. Almost as if he's trying to prove he's smarter than conventional wisdom. Eschewing the big names and finding the diamond in the rough. It doesn't work often enough unfortunately.
You mean other than the fact that they are? Lmao were you serious with this? Does it make me less of a fan to cast one of our players in a negative light? We've had plenty of players that sucked dude, that's why we've had 4 straight losing seasons.
I just don't get running your mouth over a player when he still plays for our club. Maybe it's a cultural thing.
DTrain is a frustrating player, he will have a great game, then a poor game, then a great game. The injuries are a serious problem though, not talent, if he cannot get on the field he's useless to us. As for Patterson, I like his game, but think Ireland is pretty much locked into the "25 games in college" approach, which means he is not on the menu imo.
Actually Thomas isn't THAT bad, I went a little overboard lol, but he's not looking like a good 2nd round pick, the fact that we traded up for him makes it an even poorer decision.
National Football Post are reporting that Patterson didn't interview at all well and that he might slip down some boards because of it. Conjecture on their part, but do you think his rumoured immaturity will affect his draft stock with some teams? http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Players-that-did-not-shine-at-Sundays-Combine-workout.html
Well, real issue is he only has 1 yr experience, Ireland usually goes for 3 yr starters who have played 25 games or more.
I'm going to be honest I saw an article earlier talking about how the NFL is interested in Manti Te'o's sexuality even though by the rule of the CBA it should be against the rules even to ask him the question...and the first thing I thought was, jesus christ...Jeff Ireland strikes again. No lie. I was convinced Ireland just asked Te'o if he's gay during the interview. Which would have clearly been out of bounds yet I'm sure many people here would defend it.
I mean, the line of questioning totally just naturally took him there. Jeff Ireland: "So your girlfriend turned out to be Ronaiah Tuiasasopu?" Manti Te'o: "Well, a hoax organized by him, yes." Jeff Ireland: "Are you a homosexual, then?" See. Perfectly reasonable. Follows right through the logical flow of the conversation. (and yet is totally, absolutely, 100% wrong to ask)
The accusations that it was Ireland isn't surprising, either. It is Ireland after all..................
Don't get me wrong, the article did not state that anyone asked him this question. It was kind of a misleading title. It more pondered whether it would be OK. But based on the headline I just kept scanning through the thing to make sure because I was absolutely convinced based on the title that Ireland just stepped in it again.
IMO the specifics of why he interviewed poorly (if true) matter. I expect that Philbin wants a player who can tell him why he is running a certain route on a play or what adjustments he should make given different coverages. If CP couldn't answer those types of questions then the poor interview should knock him down Miami's board (assuming Ireland and Philbin are on the same page). If he showed a high football IQ but some thought he came off poorly for other reasons then it might mean nothing (again, if true). But my guess is that a player that "was choppy in and out of his breaks, and did not display fluidity on his routes... let the ball get into his body and struggled to catch the ball cleanly. Early in the workout he caught the ball extremely well, but as the workout went on he dropped some passes he should easily have caught. is probably not a player who worked a ton on his craft and is unlikely to demonstrate a high football IQ.
To ask that would be worse than what he asked Dez. I'm not going to worry Ireland is that stupid unless he actually does it.
Both questions would of been asked in different context, someone's sexuality is none of your business and should not be asked, if the client says my dad was a pimp and my mother worked for him, well u get the picture.
I agree, that is why asking Te'o the hypothetical questions mentioned would be worse than asking what he asked Dez and I won't believe Ireland is obtuse or insensitive enough to ask such a thing before he actually does it.
Have you ever seen a grown man naked? I could really see Ireland bringing it up, "so uhm, have you been to any alternative clubs?"
