Not usually a fan of the auctions, but I'm placing Daryl Smith up for grabs in a Sign and Trade scenario.

Smith is a versatile linebacker, capable of playing outside or inside in a 4-3, or inside in a 3-4.

Although coming off a non season-ending injury, Smith is still ranked as PFF's top free agent LB because of his versatility and production.

Not looking for much for Smith, just some draft picks and/or a low-price starter.

Tender's are due by tomorrow. Make the best offer before then and you guarantee yourself of the best MLB/ILB out there. Or overpay for him in free agency --if Russell Allen went for more than $4 million, Smith will easily double that.

There's no reserve on him. Make the best offer and he's your. And please no trolling, I've been respectful of others' auction threads.

No. What I deem to be the best offer by tomorrow A.M. gets him.

Our request for a low-cost starter or a draft pick was met, but there was some confusion on Smith's price tag and deal fell through.

Unless something comes up by tonight's deadline, Smith will walk.

It's a damn shame because he'll likely go for $9-$10 million in FA. He could be guaranteed on a roster for like a 6th.

Well that's a hell of a steal. If Russell Allen goes for $4.5, now way he doesn't go for at least a little more than that.

Salary cap is $40 million more than it was last few years, that's making it hard to compare prices from previous years.

minimum price is minimum price for a guy. Best way to do it is to go by cap %. I'd have to check to see what 2011's cap was, but I don't think it's too far off % wise compared to now for Smith.

it was 300 last year, but the ability to cut guys went to like 500 or something, which is why you implemented a much smaller scale for FA salary you can cut.

Find me a Punter than can directional punt the ball 80 yards and I would select him with the 1st overall pick time and time again.
