ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk Jake Long agrees to terms with Rams, per league source. Chooses St. Louis over Dolphins.
Probably for the best. He was a great player, but the odds of him breaking down again via injury, in my opinion, are greater than him regaining his early form. I wonder if that brings Sebastian Vollmer into the picture. Guys like Menelik Watson, Terron Armstead, and Brennan Williams probably just moved up Miami's draft board a little bit as well.
Life goes on. It's a business. I'm sure he liked the deal from St. Louis, flew back to Miami and tried to squeeze more money out them. I applaud Miami for not forking over tons of cash to him if they weren't sold. Did I want Jake back, sure. But at the same time I didn't want a new deal with him to cripple the team's cap. I wish him the best, I hope he's healthy, but I understand Miami looking at his last two years and being leery of his health and not wanting to locked into a ton of money.
Wow. Didn't expect that. Wonder what the difference in numbers were. I really hope the Rams team goes down in flames.
check that: Ben Volin @BenVolinPBP RT @JasonColeYahoo: LT Jake Long agrees to five-year deal with St. Louis. Max value of $45 mill with incentives. All I have right now
be lying if i said i wasn't disappointed. vollmer and winston will probably move quickly now. going to need one of them.
Jeff Fisher must be the best b.s. artist who ever lived. 6 winning records in 17 full seasons as a coach, yet he's still thought of as one of the best in the business and he always seems to get people he goes after. I don't get it. Also, this feels a lot worse than if he had just signed with them on the first day. A LOT worse.
Unless they move up that probably isn't going to happen. The top 3 tackles will all most likely be top 10 picks. And the Chargers at 11 could use a tackle too.
Damn it! Can't believe we can't out recruit the Rams. Reports are 8 or 9 mil per, unless the guaranteed $$$ was really skewed, we should have matched that.
Corection from Ben Volin Ben Volin @BenVolinPBP RT @JasonColeYahoo: Ok, first source says it's actually 4-yr, $36 mill. Sorry for initial mistake.
