Its true. Maybe by Monday he will be what, 352-1 if he works hard. He is here to unleast they see what they have and then if its nothing, draft or sign or whatever. Got to give him credit. A few months ago he was pushing 388ish LOL
He was listed at 328 on the roster last year. If he shows up on Monday he should be good to go by May 21st.
As to what position he will play ? LOL hell, even his position coach is probably not sure. I am thinking left out, very far ooouuuut
We're not privy of this dude and his workout commitment this offseason, I guess he could of maintained at 355, and start his drop at the first ota with a goal of 330 at camp..all it takes is one picture to know how hard he worked this offseason, he could easily transform a lot of his body if the commitment was serious...it's not hard for the body to respond in his state, as long as the work ethic was there.
alllllllllllllllllllllllllllrighty then. Whatever floats your boat. John Jerry will be 320 when Vince Lombardi coaches again.
why did we draft this bum over Jimmy Graham again? we had Smiley, Donald Thomas, Jake Grove, Nate Garner, Berger, and Incognito on the roster at the time. even Ray Feinga was on the team. most of these guys helped pave the way for a top 5 rushing attack the season prior. but at TE all we had was Fasano, Nalbone, and Joey Haynos! you can't tell me OG was a bigger need than TE.
I read the other day, I forget where, I think it was just speculation, but Sparano coached Jerry in the senior bowl, and it kinda makes sense that he got in Parcells ear about that one..who the hell knows, maybe Parcells thought because Fasano had an Italian last name that he had his reincarnation of Bavaro and didn't need Gronk or Graham..
That is not too bad. Not ideal, however if he shows that weight before training camp he should be cut.
No offense to any posters, but I gotta see some sort of link to believe this one way or the other... JJ has become one of the favorite punching bags of Fin fans. I'll just wait to see where he's really at before I judge the kid... However, at this point, 355 is not too far off from where I'd call acceptable for him...
While it would be fantastic to see him at 330 entering the OS Training - this isn't extremely bad. He does have some room to lose. If he eats well, works hard these next three months - he can get to the 335-340 range. While not 325, that's acceptable. That said, if a kid like him worked his tail off, he could go 325 and be an absolute monster at OG.
340 still seems awfully heavy for this style of blocking. And if he's having trouble getting to 340, then there's no hope. Not that he's been particularly good even when he's managed to play...
Reading that quote would make me think 340 is the max he better show up at. Philbin is probably thinking more around 320 for the start of the season.
How is it that a man that big hasn't been seen by SOMEONE during the off season who could report how big he is. How is he able to hide.
Found a recent picture of John Jerry in a really strange outfit.. On a serious note, doesn't the beginning of offseason workouts start Monday?
Is that her? It's weird that she would show up in a search of "black sumo wrestler". Don't really want to know.
That and Parcells said at one point after that draft that he didn't believe in drafting TEs high. They were definitely considering Graham though, as Parcells called the team immediately after the pick to congratulate them for drafting Graham. IIRC it was in a conversation about that call that Parcells said he didn't want to take a TE too early. IMO the pass on Graham for Jerry has Parcells' fingerprints all over it. I think it was one of his decisions.
You're right that he could be a good OG for us. I was thinking that a man that big, taking off 15-30 pounds isn't as big a deal (as you said, with the right frame of mind, nutrition and workouts). It really depends on him, again. I know, I know...we said that last year and when he was finally in shape, he played well enough, so if he can be in better shape to start with, perhaps we see the next step for him as a player... Of course, all that hinges on him and where his mind is at regarding maturing to the level of "pro"...
If Philbin wants him to report at camp at 340, and he's at 355 right now, then that is certainly doable, also, if he reports to camp at 340, then 325 to 330 is most certainly doable by the time the season starts...so I will retract my fat jokes until I see what he reports to training camp at..I'm going to camp this year so I would be looking at if he's just losing weight or he tried to change his body composition thru real weight training since December....I don't want to see his pear shape anymore, there's really no execuses..coach turner said everything that needs to be said, and as a man, if he doesn't get it, then he isn't worth it really.
so we're guessing he is at 355 lbs now,,,, and he needs to be at what weight by what date?? sorry i'm kinda slow this morning
