Urlacher? You can call him overrated but bust? Get outta here! Fred Taylor? He may be injured but the guy can play and is still productive. Ginn? After one year? Seriously? To quote slickj101, " this guy should be paying us to read his crap"
I can't get my head around this guys selections. How is Ernie Sims a bust? Kevin Williams? Sims has been productive and Kevin Williams was part of the top rushing defense. The guy is arguably the best DT in the league or at least top three.
He is listing all the picks at a particular spot for the past 10 years, then deciding who is the biggest bust. Note that this doesnt make him any smarter mind. You cannot possibly call anyone from 07' a bust yet. And Ginn is a bigger bust than Koren Robinson? Wtf? Really? This guy is a moron ....
Robinson has had a couple good seasons but has had too many off the field troubles but that still doesn't make sense. How in the hell do you evaluate a player and put a label on him after one year, especially a wideout who takes at least two or three years?
well its official... this is one of the dumbest things ive seen. How can you call Ginn a bust already... and.. Urlacher? wow..
Wait...Koren Robinson is on that list and he thinks Ginn after just one year and one poor coaching staff is the bigger bust ?? Not quite...
I dunno but I think some of you misread it. He has taken from the pass decade 10 selections that were selected 9th overall. After 1 year he has came to a conculsion that Ginn is a bust. He is pretty stupid if you ask me.
To give dude a smidgen of credit, he said the jury is still out. So he's saying Ginn is a tentative bust ... just because he couldn't choose a worse candidate. Koren Robinson is close though.
If he couldn't choose the candidate to appropriately fit the label, why make the list in the first place?
See he picked Ginn over Robinson because Robinson had some production for a short period of time, and ignored his off field issues. BUT he then calls Vick the biggest ever bust over Tim Couch for the exact opposite, saying that despite Vicks good seasons his off field issues make him a bigger bust? What? Talk about a lack of consistency. Granted Vicks issues were greater, but so was his positive impact. And Reggie Williams had a decent year last year, but aside from that he hasnt done much. Whatever his reasoning, you just cant call a guy finishing his rookie season a bust ....
Yeah I think alot are misreading it. I think the article does show that some draft slots have a plethora of busts while some of the later top 10 picks are actually quite good. I think it goes to show that in recent history having #5 is more valuable than #1. I found it mildly interesting. Unfortunatly for Ted Ginn he will forever be linked to what Brady Quinn does, even this article mentioned him.
can't believe he thinks vick is more a bust than TIM COUCH. c'mon really? i suppose Sean Taylor would be a bust to this guy too, because he didn't have enough on the field production this year.. i wish you could have a public vote to ban some of these people from posting in the internet. sigh..
I agree the article is fairly useless but Urlacher is not on the list because the wrier thinks he sucks, he's just on the list because he's a #9 pick in the last 10 years.
The guy is just plain stupid. I mean honestly, after one year, I'd call Ginn better than Reggie Williams. The guy is an airhead and makes some of the stupidest decisions out of the field. He literally has no football smarts. I love how he prefaces the fact the Ginn is the loser with "the verdict is still out." I mean come on now, be serious. You're not going to turn a team around by yourself and it was quite obvious he was on a horrendous team. He still made the best of it. The author of that article is just plain dumb.
At least a good third of the names on the lists are unfamiliar to me which suggests that he's letting some genuine busts get away unscathed simply so he can take potshots at some higher profile candidates. Examples - 1) Saying Ricky Williams was an obvious candidate for biggest bust overall at #5 overall. Hang on a minute Ricky may be fruity but he did pack together 5 or 6 straight 1,000 yard seasons and in 2002 was the best back in football. Whatever Ricky's problems he just is not, and should never be considered to be, a draft bust. Ricky's 2002 alone was more productive than the combined careers of Curtis Ennis, Terrence Newman and Quentin Jammer. 2) Saying David Boston gets consideration for biggest bust at #8 overall. OK David boston's career may have gone downhill following injury, but Antrel Rolle or David Terrell haven't made it to even one pro-bowl.
I know we're football fans, but COME on guys! Their not saying ALL of those guys were busts...they were comparing the #9 picks over the recent years., and asking which one was a bust. While I agree it's too early to judge Ginn, I think the article is a bit disturbing, what are the odds Ginn becomes a Urlacher, or fred taylor? Speaks of the value of what others got at the #9 pick overall.
PFW calls Ginn biggest no. 9 draft bust of decade http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/...008/06/19/pfw_calls_ginn_biggest_no_9_bu.html
I think you should re read it bro. His logic in a nutshell is that ginn loses because he isn't brady quinn and because the other potential candidates had at least one good season. And ginn hasn't had one good season, and why is that..........................
Koren Robinson takes the cake as biggest bust for the past decade. You can't label a player a bust after one season and that alone makes this poorly organized "article" a joke.
John Henderson is no bust. Ted Ginn may be a bust, but with the 9th pick overall, we drafted Ted Ginn's family. There is a difference.
Koren Robinson? Reggie Williams? Carlos Rodgers? What exactly have either of those three done in the NFL? (Minus Robinson's Kick Returning skills -- woohoo!!! -- even those arn't that good). We as NFL fans can look at Ginn better after his second season to determine which road he's headed towards. However, I don't think he will ever be viewed as being worth the 9th overall selection in the draft. He'd have to become a Top 3-5 receiver.
My son deserves a great deal more respect than he is getting in this article. If this dude wanted to get this right, he should have made it 1996-2005. No one from 2006-2008 should even be eligible for this stupid contest. I think he should have stated the his bust criteria before he wrote all this nonsense. Then maybe consider using the same standards for all the players. From this guys logic, I am left confused. Let's try to follow along... Base Case: Ted Ginn is a bigger bust than Koren Robinson Reasoning: a)Koren played well in the beginning of his career, and then totally ****ed up. b)Ted Ginn is not Brady Quinn Following this logic I expected Jammal Anderson to be the bust of the #10 pick. But no.. Secondary Case: David Boston is a bigger bust than Jammal Anderson Reasoning: a)David Boston played well in the beginning of his career, and then totally ****ed up. This is where I'm totally confused? David Boston is the loser for the same reasons that Koren Robinson is NOT the loser. My question is, what did Ted Ginn do wrong, other than not being Brady Quinn, which Jammal Anderson is also guilty of.
