We got lotsa players, this thread is for discussing what they're gonna play.

OLB Dion Jordan- I discussed this in the other thread, but I believe Jordan will be overwhelmingly a stand-up defender- Replacing Koa Misi in the base, and Olivier Vernon in the Nickel.

CB Jamar Taylor- I think there's a good chance that Jamar Taylor is expected to play opposite Brent Grimes, and then move to the slot while Will Davis comes on to the field for the Nickel package. Jamar Taylor isn't a Nickel corner, but Brent Grimes has next to no experience there and I don't think Davis is so much either. Taylor does have a lot of experience playing closer to the LOS(and the ball), as it seems he frequently ended up on the nub side at Boise State.

OG Dallas Thomas- Joe Philbin ambiguously said that Dallas Thomas will started off on the left side. We need a left tackle, but I think the idea is that Thomas will play Left Guard. Incognito wouldn't have an issue switching sides, and I don't think the team is done trying to work out a more marquee left tackle.

CB Will Davis- Like I said, I expect him to be more of a Nickel boundary corner opposite Taylor. He's a little bit of a project, and it seems helpful to limit his snaps in that regard.

OLB/ILB Jelani Jenkins- I think Jenkins short-term prospects are as a substitute player, and there are a variety of ways. He fits the M.O. recently of athletic guys who can cover and blitz. I think he's insurance as a Nickel LB if Wheeler or Ellerbe don't pan out in coverage as desired, and for flexibility to line up in a smaller, more athletic 4-3 front at times if called for.

TE Dion Sims- He's more of an in-line tight end. He's got less experience as a slot guy and an H-Back than most guys the Dolphins have been interested in recently. I don't know I would pencil in the Dolphins as a 2-TE team at this point, but I think he's a stab in that direction.

RB Mike Gillislee- He's a guy you expect to fill in the holes where Lamar Miller doesn't. He's a little more between the tackles oriented, but I think he's also a bit better pass blocker than Miller too.

K Caleb Sturgis- They want to get rid of Dan Carpenter.

Jenkins is 243lbs, not sure how he'd fit at SS.

I agree with all of that Disgustipate. I'd add to that Ellerbe has never played in all 16 games in any season of his career. The most he's totaled is 13, and he's only done that twice in 4 seasons. I think Jelani Jenkins, in addition to what you mentioned, represents a bit of an upgrade to Austin Spitler in case Ellerbe does succumb to injury again.

Dolphins were saying they see Jordan being a bookend for Wake ala Dumervil and Miller in passrushing situations, so Jaleni will compete with Vernon for the nickel snaps, or so one would think.

I like LB depth now with Misi and Jenkins as our backups.

I just wish they drafted a FS.

Has Don Jones of Arkansas State been drafted? I've been on the golf course all day getting texts of Miami's pick. I know they're high on him. Also, they've mentioned Kelcie McCray several times this offseason. He was injured in camp last year, but he might not be someone to sleep on either.

Good ideas on the new draft picks. The overall LB depth just became upgraded substantially. I wonder what their plans on for Kaddu. I remember Philbin specifically mentioning him a as player that had high hopes for next year with a reference to pass rushing. Should be interesting to see what the defense looks like next year.

Jenkins is probably my favorite player from this draft. He can do it all and they say he's got great leadership skills.

Well he moves and covers better than some strong safeties that are 20 lbs lighter. :)

Think about that, Jordan played straight up Cb 30% of the time, Jelani was playing Safety at times.

That opens up a lot of options, maybe Jenkins is more akin to Adalius Thomas?

Just a Lb who you can move anywhere on the field, most forget that Thomas was great on ST's when he first started in Baltimore

Thing is Mr C, he was coming off of a broken foot, in HS Jenkins ran a 4.4 40 (per the Washington Post) hmm

I like this pick the more I look at it.

He played better in 2011, he played much faster and is always around the ball.

Dpate, can you talk about why Dion sims can hurt a defense if he happens to have soft hands and some ability to Run routes to go along with that blocking ability? Not tipping the defense requires this big boy to get off that line better and turn his body and make some catches.

Sims 10 yard split is 1.62 which is faster than Eifert, Ertz, Escobar and many other tes. Only one I saw that was faster was Reed and that was 1.61 so i dont think getting off the line will be a problem.

I agree on Jordan. I think he will mostly play as a stand up on the edge. If thats true then we'll either be running more 3-4 or more of a 5 man front with he on one side and Wake on the other. We should have an excellent pass rush.

from what I've gathered and personally summized, he was playing at 270/275 last year, and dropped a considerable amount of weight to train for the combine, which I'm good with, I would just like to continue him at that weight, because I feel it will hell him get off that line quicker, it's something that I noticed and the extra weight could be the reason.
