Dick Bavetta reffing and a no call on that reach. Coincidence? I think not. I believe he was one of the names in the 2002 fixed finals story that came out.
I'm sorry but that was a joke. You have a potential game tieing free throws by Pierce. Instead you get from all angles a reach in that turns it into a 4 point game with less than 40 seconds.
I gave you a thanks just so that I could remove it. The refs had nothing to do with this. Was it a reach in? I would probably agree, but the free throws were even between the games and blown calls happened on BOTH sides. Needless to say, the refs are terrible, but if they are terrible for both teams, then no one can complain. The only game I have had issue with is game 2. All the other games have been fine in terms of being horrible for both sides. Blaming the refs after every loss is tiresome and watered down. I think some people just have to accept that the team they are rooting for has lost (unless of course, it is something outrageous like game 2 where the outcome was CLEARLY decided by the refs). Besides what does it matter? Boston now gets to celebrate their championship on their own court vs in the lockerroom in L.A. Its better for them this way.
The NBA is fixed. David Stern gets a stiffy thinking about a Game 7 and all the ratings. Celtics are toast in Game 6....watch.
Oh I agree there were tons of bad/non calls for both sides but that NON CALL was huge. Considering thats the highlight play of the night. I knew the Lakers would win tonight I'm 5-5 thus far and their closing the series on Tuesday.
Perhaps, but I didn't see anyone claiming the series was fixed when Boston was benefitting from the horrid calls. Nothing in this series has coem close to what happened in Game 2, yet that is glossed over by seemingly everyone at this point. I think everyone with these conspiracy theories have watched too much X-Files. The fix isn't in. If it was, L.A. would be winning this thing. Think about it, the second largest market in the U.S. with the league's MVP and the best coach of all time? In fact, I am kind of mad now that the fis ISN't in. And that might have been the first time I have seen or heard the word "stiffy" since I last watched Beavis and Butthead forever ago.
Meh, I don't see Boston clamoring for it being a foul. In fact, Pierce had a look on his face like he just pooped the bed for not handling the ball properly. At the end of the game, the Refs usually will let the players ecide the outcome. Heck, look how hard Boston had to work to get a foul called on them when they were trying to foul.
It does matter though. I and countless others are getting sick and tired of games being decided by calls they do or do not make.
Kobe Bryant: 3 for 13 after the first quarter. He's not exactly doing himself any favors in that MJ comparison.
i don't know what causes the Lakers to bolt to the front like that, then let the Celtics in the back door. can't say the Lakers don't have the experience.
First of all, let me preface, I am not a fan of either of these teams. Now... IMO, the refs of the NBA just need to take the whistle out of their mouths. They have become TOO power hungry and call too many fouls. THUS, people (fans and players alike) start whining at the slightest no call or call. IF the refs just did not call many ticky tack fouls PERIOD, then people would stop whining for them. THINK about how many fouls are called in a NBA game versus, say a NHL game.
I don't think Kobe cares about the MJ comparisons. He has said countless times that people need to get over that and recognize that they are different players. Kobe even said in a recent interview with Stephen A. Smith that there is no comparison.
But this complaint has been the same one since the 80's. You have to realize that this is how the NBA is played now, whther we like it or not. I just don't see the point of *****ing after every game about the refs. If it is a completely bogus game (which happen on occasion) then fine. But like Oboy said, crying over ticky tack non calls makes the fans look like whiny little babies because both teams can then lay claim to about 15 more non calls and stretch these games out to four hours long watching the bench players decide the NBA Championship because Pierce, Garnett, Allen, Bryant Odom and Gasol have all fouled out on a miniscule handcheck. And if that happened, I gaurentee everyone on here would be on the refs for being too sensitive and not letting the players play.
True, but the refs have NEVER, ever, been under the scrutiny they are are right now, not to this degree. Donaghy has opened up a whole mess of things that in one way or the other represents every single ref's credibility in the NBA. So every single call they miss, or inconsistent whistle they blow or do not blow raises questions. The better team in the end is going to win, I have no doubt about that , but I just want the players to be able to play and not worried about being taken out of the game due to foul trouble, etc. I dont want to see Kobe, and KG on the bench while, Luke Walton, and Tony Allen get playing time.
Quite frankly, I don't want to see Luke Walton ever get playing time again, but that is a different issue. The reaosn I highlighted it was because based off of this, the refs were RIGHT to not call a foul on Kobe then. Furthermore a couple of things, the refs may have had bad position and if you look at the replay, Kobe swipes the ball and hits his jersey on the recoil. It is barely a foul if it is one at all.
Yeah, agreed. You know every team is going to get the calls at home. I'm not sure the Lake Show has a chance going to Boston. They can't defend the pick and roll on the defensive end, and are getting trapped far too easily on the offensive end. Why they didn't press Eddie House, not a natural PG earlier than yesterday is beyond me. Putting Radmanovic, instead of Odom, on Pierce, is non sensical as well. Just going thru the motions at time too. Turiaf is asleep on the bench, Walton's head is somewhere else, and Sasha has never seen a shot he couldn't make, except that now he can't make them. So something important, like kidnapping James Posey, is going to have the happen for them to stretch it to 7 and win IMO.
Wow your comparing that to a potential game tying score? Atleast Posey didn't hit Pierces elbow. Give me a break.
Hey now, that's no way to treat an ex-classmate of mine. In the overall picture, there should be no difference if a non-call happens late or early in the game. If it happened earlier, then well, things would've been different to the point that it becomes a different game at the end. Same results. And if Posey's hitting Pierce's elbow, then well, they need to rethink their physical borderline-hacking play because it's now spilling over to their team.
Ahh but see, Pierce had five fouls in game 5. Had they called this one, which, to you, they should have, then he would have been out of the game prior to that Kobe play ever happening, thus rendering your kvetching about a non call moot.
The referees working Game 6 of the NBA Finals will be Joey Crawford, Eddie Rush, and Bennett Salvatore from realgm

Yeah, I think the Celtics pull it off tonight. Beasley scoring more than Wade on a nightly basis? Er, no.
Yeah that guy is on crack. How the hell do you stop a guy that shoots damn near 50% and averages 25 + ppg to stop shooting? Some of these NBA writers are just plain ole' stupid.
Up by 31 right now, complete domination by the Celtics and they will be raising up that 17th banner. The Lakers and their fans have to be embarrassed with this performance tonight.
So much for Kobe's ability to take over games. And people were seriously comparing him to Michael Jordan? Jordan got better as he aged; Kobe is whining about not having any help.
again, I am so glad to see the celtics win, because hating kobe plus liking KG equals that. but how big is the win by the giants over the patsies now???????? I mean, with the Sox and the celts holding championships now.
