so we wanted to draft Tavon Austin, missed out on him... actually called Josh Boyce and told him we were going to draft him minutes before we were on the clock, missed out on him... signed 4 UDFA WR's after the draft... and now we just claimed McNutt off waivers. looks like I was right, the team isn't fully content with this WR group
He was the reason Iowa's offense was good in 2011... he really made the offense and quarterback James Vandenberg look better than they really were. He's a good player and teammate that I think could stick as the #5.
Love him. Watched him a ton at Iowa. Not the fastest guyin the world, but excellent hands. I was really hoping we would have drafted him last year especially after he started falling. Not surprised we claimed him having his offensive coordinator in Ken O'Keefe. I think he is best suited for the West Coast offense and has a good chance to be successful in the slot as a chain mover. He's probably never going to bust out a 50 yard pass play though.
We just picked up a QB. Looks like we're not fully content with our qb's either. Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
We can only hope they're not fully content with ANYTHING ! Besides, Every team is trying to get more playmakers. If we were so Concerned about the slot we wouldn't have given away Devone bess because he's limited to the slot.
Griddles loves his McNutt! I remember a few discussions about him in Club. He's basically a Davone Bess type which is probably why we didnt target him til after Davone Bess was gone. He could be a nice #5 or a Practice Squad guy.
Bad thing about McNutt is idk how well he will be on special team which is probably where the coaches are going to want him to earn his keep.
Yeah, I remember that. Funny thing is that Binns, R. Mathews, and McNutt are almost identical in size and speed. Certainly not the size or style of Austin, who we supposedly loved? Not sure where they are going with the wr position....
and adding insult to injury by running into your own punter. I wish that gif was longer so we could see how he landed
I am betting he makes the final roster. He is a good match for the offense we run. Here are some highlights
He sure made a straight line back to his own punter lol! http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/188aatvehp8jfgif/ku-medium.gif
You could be right. It's a much better position to be in than last year. Binns, Matthews, Fuller and McNutt competing for #4 and #5 is better than we've seen for a while.
They went the FA route for upgrading the starting receivers. You do remember the signing of Wallace, Gibson and Keller, right?
What's really interesting is someone in the media (I wish I could remember who) was talking about the Bess trade and said when he spoke with Philbin before the season they were speaking about Bess and Philbin said something along the lines of, ideally you'd like that player to be bigger, but Bess is a good player, and the media member speculated that his height may have been a reason this staff was looking to move him. I find it interesting that you guys are essentially calling McNutt a bigger Bess.
Thought Miami should've drafted him or Rishard Matthews over B.J. Cunningham. As probably mentioned, our WR Coach was his Offensive Coordinator.
