I listen, and if your telling me you have a good grade on the GM position from the two vehicles that allow him to build and improve the team, you sure haven't been very vocal about it..?

You didnt want Wallace at that price because you think the contract number will get ugly.

You wouldn't of broken up the linebackers..so no Ellerbe.

Don't think you thought about signing wheeler this year even though you like the player.

Your frustrated that he hasn't signed Barnes the past two years.

You wouldn't have done the deal in the draft because you wanted the two picks and two players.

And you didnt like the rest of the draft either.

Once again this is the vibe you have laid out, because believe me, I'm listening..

Now I haven't had a problem with that because I respect you as an evaluator, but when you come in here and try to tell me that this guy isn't bias or angry, and that he's intelligent for saying the things he did, I think his thoughts support your opinion of the GM, and the job he is doing building the team, so your defending him, jmo.

The linebacker swap was an excellent move..in terms of money paid out, I think it breaks about even, Burnett was an average player, liability in the run, Dansby just couldn't make plays, they both were in the thirties, not respecting the move to get younger and more physical, seems odd to me..

I remember that, three years ago I had Suggs as the best hybrid 34 linebacker in the league, don't think it was a bad debate and by no means indicative of how I felt about wake, or wake in general, Terrell Suggs is a great great player.

Remember when I wrote after wakes first two preseason games that if all GMs could now take those two games, study them, and put his skill in the draft to see where it would wind up, I said top 5 pick in the draft in that scenarios, most laughed.

I've been enjoying your take on Jordan, I think your seeing some things that others cannot, or as in Evans case to bias to notice.

Then again, past success does not predict future results due to variables.

As for his main thrust, the other thing that happens is they don't see the future, for example a skinny JT was getting blown off of the ball as a DE, the next yr he had improved his game, but was always a good passrusher.

Why take a one year view of a top 5 pick? double digit sacks is a successful Rook season by any yardstick, if there are flaws in his game (and every rookie has flaws in their game) that comes with the prospect package.

Basically, he named Dion Jordan as the Tim Tebow of this year's draft.

"...even if he has 18 sacks I'd be afraid to put him on the field b/c of all of the things he can't do.."

If he said "even if he has 14 sacks he scares me in normal football situations" it still is a dumb and incomplete statement.

I know, it's not dumb heath Evans says "he's 242, 243 lbs" lol, so lets just forget it.

Well, we shall see, one of the things about the NFL is it plays out on the field, if Jordan can play we'll know it.

Really if one thinks about it, we'll know if it's "same old Dolphins" or if we are something new by gm #1 v Cleveland, we should drag them, if we lose then it will be a long season imo.

Yeah we'll know, but this is what gives me confidence, Dion Jordan is a tough sonofabitch,,but shhhhh, we don't want to talk about that.

    Lol..ughh.

How bout when he said, the dolphins will probably lose the game against the browns because of Horton..yeah , sure..that's a good reason.

Did he forget that the steelers offered Wallace 10 mill a season last year..

Charlie Casserly and mike Tannenbaum are his GM authorities as to why Jeff Ireland is out of control..lol

Pod, can you do me a favor, google Dion, there's a pic there that if you can post it that would be cool, once you google click on one of the photos, it will then give you a horizontal shuffle of pics, there's a shot of his whole backside about to hit #17 the Qb from the Washington huskies??

The pic that you posted was distorted, you can see how far the stands look in the background, the depth of the shot is not giving you an accurate description.

Also, if we wanna study his body then lets see some pics at the combine.

    thank bro..yes sir that's it..

This is a lean football player with very low body fat who has great wiry strength, and you can see the development and separation, especially the back of the arms, the glute and hamstring seperation, it's quite rare, and has all kinds of potential to hold 10 lbs without affecting anything..there is strength in that body and anyone who looks at Dion Jordan's body and comes away with the opinion that their scared to death or that he's so skinny, has no clue what their looking at it.

I think he hit and missed CK. I understand his analysis of Jordan, agree or disagree. I think the comments on "monopoly money" and Ireland were off-base and took away from his Jordan analysis. He said he was ok with Miami up to the draft and the Jordan pick, yet he then went on a torrid about Wallace and Ellerbe. I actually believe he was holding back a little with the Dolphins guys because he has said much more inflaming things on the Network. If you were off the record with this guy, I think he would list Miami as the "clueless" team of the offseason. While trying to tone things down with his Tannehill comments, he did very little to hide a noticeable bias against the Dolphins. I am not completely sure what it is, but it is noticeable everytime he discusses Miami (noticeable because it usually is going to piss off the fan base). And he is not the only one on that Network to do so (e.g., Dukes). Last year Miami had few saying anything good, and certainly some of that was justified. Should Evans be pressured and even disciplined for his opinion? No. But he has to face the band when he sings. Dolphins fans have as much right to rip him as he has to rip the organization. All in free speech and fun.

P.S. I read your tweet about him being well researched. Some of it maybe. But some of what he said had very little research and came across as bias. Of course he is not going to say what GMs criticized Ireland, but his comments about Wallace and Ireland I found to be unprofessional. I buy his comments on Ellerbe and partially on Jordan. Jordan was not a reach by most views prior to the draft to go in the top 10 or top 5 even. While he may be right in Jordan being a liability on running plays if he is at de, and that Ellerbe has only started a few games and doesn't have the resume of Dansby, but he contridicted himself on his own views of Miami's offseason He was "ok" with it? No, I heard nothing from him that said he was ok with it, and his comments on the Network have been even worse, along with the likes of Sapp and Dukes. In fairness to NFL Network, not everyone is like them. But historically, they have had a significant number of critics of this organization (e.g., Lombardi etc. al.). But winning is what cures the sickness. That is what I hope for this year.

He'll put on weight fast, you can see he has a lot of definition so he def spends a lot of time in the gym. He'll just need to change up his diets and routines to add mass once the shoulder is ready. No reason to rush him though, not that we have any reason to think they would.

Bottom line is he's supposed to be a professional analyst on a professional network and he's falling way short on that, as his network routinely does.

Guys like this are responsible for the unfortunate TMZ element that runs rampant in NFL reporting.

I don't think so CK the number didn't bother me. it was the seeming lack of background he presented and the seething anger he presented it in. this is the third interview that I have heard from him that he has been this aggressive in his message to Ireland and the team. I remember that first one on day two of the draft where he was actually getting red in the face and walking directly towards the camera, I wish I could find it but I think NFLN wisely pulled it. I was thinking I wonder if NFLN is going to do something about this because this clearly is not an unbiased professional observation, this is an emotional outburst. normally I could care less what that neanderthal thinks but he was on a mission and seems to be doing all he can to deliver it

Using the word hyperbole as an excuse for one sentence when its amplified to excuse him for that whole, biased, anti Miami opinion doesnt cut it with me. Ive listened to that interview a few times now. Heath Evans wasnt even close to what i see as an impartial, fact related "expert" with that interview. His views are one dimentional, biased and full on disrespectful. Wallace a cancer? wow. I wont go into details again because there have been some great, intellectual, balanced and well thought out views already posted on here beit stating the Phins weaknesses or positives but im damned if im going to listen to an obvious hater smoke the team.

I don't agree that every point he made was well researched. However he made some good points. I find your 3rd point to be a touch arrogant. A couple of points here.

    1. He said that Tom Brady is not bothered by edge pressure as much as pressure up the middle. He didn't say that Miami needs to increase its middle pressure. His point was that the Dolphins traded up and spent a valuable asset on the type of player they're not going to get bang for their buck for when playing the Patriots. That said, it seems disingenuous to gloss over the "2 PB DTs" as if Paul Soliai is or has ever been a guy that consistently affects the quarterback from that position. We ALL know that he comes off the field on nickel downs.

    2. He specifically addressed the idea of middle pressure coming from Mike linebacker blitzes, and furthermore I have addressed it several times in this thread and explained exactly what he said and why I agree with it. I will not do so again. If you would like to know what he said about it, scroll up.

    3. He did not call Mike Wallace a cancer. That's just inaccurate. He said the Steelers have the best view of what Mike Wallace really is, and they decided he's not worth the money Miami paid him. That's 100% accurate. People like to pretend that the Steelers didn't have the money to pay Mike Wallace. They clearly did because after being frustrated in negotiations with Wallace for a few weeks they folded up their tents and gave the big contract to Antonio Brown instead. It was an either-or decision with Wallace and Brown and they decided they'd rather have Antonio Brown for a little bit cheaper (but still a $42 million deal). They had the money, but they made a decision. Heath Evans says he's spoken with people in the Steelers' front office and they have told him why they were not comfortable giving him that kind of money. Heath Evans at NO POINT said that it was because Mike Wallace was a cancer. He said it was because of his route running, and because they felt like they couldn't count on Wallace in "crunch time". That's what Steelers people told Heath Evans. Take it up with the Steelers.

    4. No I don't believe we brought in similar players to what Bill Belichick brings in, for better or worse. There was clearly a different plan being enacted than the ones you typically see in New England. Again, for better, or worse.

    "I'm done w/ this guy." :)

This is an incredibly incomplete and slanted view of what I've thought of this off season. I can only imagine it's coming from a place of anger, for whatever reason. I guess recognizing correctly that Heath Evans is an intelligent analyst that clearly does his research makes you angry for some reason. If you're serious and you're not intentionally trying to needle me, maybe we can discuss it. But as things stand I'm not really inclined because it seems to me like you're angry with me and looking for any excuse to criticize.

I'm not angry at you for your offseason POV, already mentioned that, I'm pissed at you because you've displayed weakness in your game by not seeing what this guy is trying to do, while at the same time saying his points were intelligent and well researched and that most of us are stupid for not getting him.

I don't want to debate the football points he made with you because I don't believe his points were well researched, nor do I believe they came from a place of objectivity, so why debate tainted, completely shallow information.

If you start a thread with your disagreements with the way the free agent period and draft went down I think it would be better, seeing that you think this guy is well researched.

Jumping into the convo a little bit...but for me it wasnt really his "points" that bothered me it was the delivery of said points..he was practically seething on day 2 of the draft and has slowly been toning it down but that first take was very telling about his attitude towards the franchise and Ireland in particular. I personally cant take anything he says without a (huge) grain of salt when he talks about the Dolphins.

That's basically all that most of us are saying, he thought he could just throw out some football fancy talk and that most fans will bow down to his football seniority..when in actually his points were incredibly one sided not well thought out relative to our situation, needs, and variables in play..

Mr. Evans why did the steelers organization offer mike Wallace a 50 million dollar contract, the biggest offer ever for a skill player by that organization, if they thought he wasn't a great player??

Ultimately, winning changes views. Let NFL Network continue their practice of "exposing" the Dolphins as "clueless". If Miami starts winning and creates some consistency this will render this discussion mute. Whether Evans is "intelligent" is debatable, and I will say he makes good points. Joe Philbin will keep the focus on what it should be, which isn't anywhere close to Evans, Dukes, Sapp, or anyone else in the media.

Thought this thread had died a peaceful death,, I wasn't going to comment because the whole thing seems kinda,,, personal I guess. Here goes, for what its worth. I listened to the interview and agree completely with ck. Evans made several points that I thought clearly showed intelligence and research/knowledge of football and the dolphins. I may or may not agree with his take, but he had several well laid out points, and gave his opinion. I did not think Evans was "mad", or "going off" or presented any sort of "angry diatribe", he just stated some opinions. I generally like reading the posts by some of the authors in disagreement here so hope ya'll can agree to disagree cause this doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Cheers
