Hey in the end Lebron is from my home state and loves the Buckeyes. I'm rooting for him to do it ALL alone and cement his status as the best all around player ever.

Jet fans are a special breed of stupid :pointlol:

His ball movement is actually pretty good this year. It doesnt show in the assist column as much as one would like but if they counted assists in basketball they way they do in hockey hes have more then double the amount of assists that he averages now. He makes a lot of passes that start plays.

Lance Stephenson is from my state, you didnt see me rooting for him be awesome. No sir. Screw the Pacers.

Many were saying he has been "bad" all playoffs, while calling Paul George the next big star. Yet, Wade outplayed George all playoffs.

    Lance Stephenson is Lance Stephenson.

I wouldn't root for Lebron vs The Knicks. Fact is I still stand by my complaints about Lebron 2 years ago. I still feel like he was mentally weak, I still feel like he struggled with his actions in the media and sometimes is an attention whore.

But people who improve themselves on and off the court deserve the recognition for doing so.

He has become a better person and the best thing I have seen on a basketball court.

Is anyone else thinking Heat in 5 for this series? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, but I just don't see how the Spurs present much of an issue here. I'm sure Kawhi Leonard will be the next in the string of decent up-and-comers that will suddenly become birthing "superstars" (as per the national media) when they're playing the Heat, but that won't be enough to put up much of a fight.

To this day the Heat are still at their most vulnerable when smacked around physically by big, strong and tough players. The Bulls aren't even a playoff caliber team without Luol Deng and they still beat the Heat in the first game and made it competitive in I think one other game, and it was purely because of their street fighter/cheap shot mentality. It was no coincidence that in some of their other games they suffered quite literally some of the worst losses in the franchise's history. They were a weak team. All they had was their attitude and physicality and it still got them a game and close to a second one.

That's why I knew this Pacers series was going to be very tough for them. The Pacers are big and strong and physical, and they also have some talent. The Spurs aren't built the same way. They're not built to beat the Heat. I just don't see this one going to the Spurs, nor do I see it going to 7 games.

I dunno. I'm no basketball expert I guess.

    Get off my lawn.
As long as the Heat can keep it up tempo, they'll be good. If it slows down, it'll be a better matchup for the spurs.

I think the media is making two mistakes here. One is recentsy effect. The Heat just struggled with the Pacers so obviously they aren't as good as we thought they were.

Two is mistaking the size the Pacers have with the size the Spurs have. They look at Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter and think "Hey the Spurs have size and size gives the Heat problems." Of course the Pacers are WAY more physical in their use of size than the spurs which don't bang on you with their bodies the same way.

Personally I think this is a far more favorable matchup for the Heat who can now return to their normal small ball line ups and get back to their identity. I smell a far shorter series than the media is making it out to be.

Heat has injury issues, that will hamper them a bit as far as polishing off the Spurs in 5.

Still..the Spurs are really good, so the Heat in 6 is a little bit more safe, accounting for the Heat's current injury issues.

problem the Spurs have is that as bad as the Heat was as a rebounding team (21st in Reb. Rate.)..guess who was tied with them at #21? Yep...the Spurs. The Spurs just don;t have a clear advantage like the Grizzlies, and Pacers had.

and remember, the Pacers damn near needed two games rigged for them to go 7 with the Heat.

    You also apparently have dementia.

Chris Bosh is a perfect matchup for Duncan and has outplayed him in almost every meeting. Fact.

The Miami Heat defense allowed .350% from three this season. That ranked 11th which is average, but there were six teams ahead of us with only a .004% differential. We will not be beaten by the three. Fact.

The Spurs ranked right behind us at 12th but offensively they shot the three at a worse percentage than us by .020% giving us an edge where the Spurs are supposed to kill us. Fact.

Manu is a shell of his former self. Fact

Lebron James is the best player on the court. Fact.

Oh and did I mention that we allowed less points per game even though opponents shot a higher free throw percentage against us than against San Antonio (in other words something entirely uncontrollable by the defense).

They do nothing that can hurt us.

I actually agree it was better but he still isolates way too much, though maybe he has to with the talent around him.

You also made me imagine the assist totals Lebron would have if that were the case.

I also think Stephenson isnt nearly as cool as Lebron James or means half as much to Indiana as Lebron did to Ohio.

"Bosh averaged 23.6 points on 60.5 percent shooting against San Antonio over the past three seasons" - that's impressive. The article makes it sound like Bosh is unstoppable vs the Spurs. Duncan has aged and cannot recover from contesting a fake jumper then back pedalling to defend a Bosh drive. Duncan will risk letting Bosh shoot mid ranges all day to defend the paint. Doesn't sound like Spurs have any other solution either.

San Antonio was 3rd in defensive efficiency and we were 7th. Points allowed and scored per game isn't indicative of what kind of offense and defense teams play.

To be fair, we started off really bad on defense and we're probably better than 7th in reality but yeah.

    Heat in 6.

If you dig deeper in the numbers...the picture is horrid for the Spurs.

In short, everything they do good, the Heat do better. Everything the Heat do well on Offense, the Spurs struggle to defend. The Spurs offensive staple? The PnR? Heat are 3rd in the NBA at defending it.

If you go by individual PP100, it is a massacre. Only Tony Parker had a positive offensive rating vs. the Heat, and that was in 10'-11'. Ont he Other hand, Bosh murders them, and Wade does good. Lebron is Lebron.

I ran a bunch of comparable boxscores to come up with the most common result based on each team's rankings. One Boxscore came up as the mirror:

    Interesting:

    http://www.nba.com/games/20130103/SASNYK/gameinfo.html#nbaGIboxscore

Knicks on that day, played exactly to the Spurs deficiencies, That is the template right there.

In Short, the Heat in 6. This will be a volatile series, and the Heat might get their doors blown off in one of these games due to Variance. This is a much more volatile series by the numbers, but rather one sided in final analysis.

He isolates because of the coaches offensive play calls. Did you watch what Woodson was calling the entire 4th quarter of a few of the Pacer games? He put the ball in Melo's hands and took it out of Felton's (which was a major mistake). As good as Melo is, hes a great scorer and an above average passer but hes not a facilitator. Hes not Lebron or Chris Paul. Thats why i want someone to take the ball out of his hands as a PG. Felton was good but he doesnt have that pedigree to where he can dictate where and when Melo gets the ball.

Irony: The team I love (NYK), laid the blueprint for the team I hate (Heat) to beat San Antonio. FML.

I do think we will see the best of Duncan this series. I know what the numbers say but I think if he wins this he may hang em up and I suspect he will want to go the extra mile to get it. Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and Manu Ginobli are going to have to be on point. But the most important piece may be Splitter because he may have to help Duncan quite a bit on Bosh. Take your chances leaving Haslem....

IIRC home teams win ~60% of the time in the NBA.

I don't think the numbers indicate any type of bias toward the Heat. But I certainly don't see a bias toward the Spurs either.

Just because a home team ends up winning, doesn't mean there wasn't a bias against them by a particular ref. Tony Brothers has been by far the worst ref for the Heat the last 3 years.
