You know...in a matchup vs. OKC, okc still has the best two players. And perkins is the dwight killer

Lol. The only thing Perkins kills is OKC's chances at winning.

But...most of us didn't want him...after we got him. The circus and constant walking on eggshells for a guy who made it known that he didn't want to be here from day one, was completely over the top. The guy had Kareem Abdul Jabbar at his disposal and never talked to him after their initial meeting once he was traded to L.A. For someone who has zero moves in the post and could be considered a legend if he simply added two to his repertoire...that makes no sense. Especially when a year later you hold up Kevin McHale for having "a million moves," and a reason why you left for Houston.

He essentially has asked for two coaches to be fired and somehow got underneath Steve Nash's skin. Steve Nash could get along with Hitler and Osama, but couldn't see eye to eye with Howard. That alone was enough for me to be done with him. He pouts, he *****es about his teammates and when he is confronted by them...he backs out and doesn't own up to it.

It was embarrassing to see those banners go up. The Lakers shouldn't have done that and they were rightfully mocked for doing so. It reeks of Jim Buss, to be honest.

But I am not terribly worried. The Lakers weren't winning next year with, or without him. So now that he is gone, you do what you gotta do (sounds like Artest is getting amnestied) for the upcoming season and start putting the pieces together in 2014, when you have money, draft picks and most likely, a few trade assets that have gone out, netting you more of the former.

Mitch is one of the best, if not THE best GM in the league, he won't allow the Lakers to be down for long.

Lakers are better off pulling a 2008/2009 Heat and targeting Durant, IMO.

The hilarious thing about 2014 as it relates to the Lakers is that in reality there are no better teammates for LeBron then Wade and Bosh.

Hey LeBron, move the whole crew west and play for the Pringles guy. Great pitch

It's amazing how seriously people take absurdity when it's presented in an article or blurb of some sort.

The Lakers thing is blowing my mind. The only way it makes sense is if you assume it has been a life long dream of Lebron's to play for the Lakers. Which, of course, Lakers fans assume of everyone.

I don't think LeBron to the Lakers is that farfetched. LeBron is going to go to the team that gives him the best chance to win. If the Lakers can assemble a team good enough, they have as good of a chance as anyone.

Obviously Miami is the clear favorite, because Riley has shown he can build a winning team around LeBron. But if another team can offer him Kyrie Irving or Chris Paul and someone like Kevin Love and Phil Jackson as coach, they certainly will be a contender for LeBron.

This. The only team he maybe leave for is Cleveland due to his history with the region. And if the Heat win this year he isn't going anywhere and losing his chance at the only fourpeat ever.

I don't like this signing for the Pistons. I assume they'll have Smith play the 3, but I don't think that suits him at all.

    Edit: 100 posts. Woo!!

Watch the Heat play. Read what they say about each other and the locker room—Ray Allen is a good source for that sort of information. Look at the way the players interact with each other, including their regular season post-game interview photobombing.

There is next to no chance that these guys will want to stop playing with each other. Rolleyes all you want, but it's evident as hell if you pay attention to the team itself, not what is said about the team.

Josh Smith may be one of those players who doesn't fit anywhere.

For the record I don't see him leaving, the Heat can probably add a max player to go along with resigning Lebron if things are done right so I think its highly unlikely but its fun to think about for the NBA fans outside of Miami. Its certainly going to be a point of discussion until Lebron signs a new contract. The Lakers could conceivably put together another free agent big three or at least a big two if they prepare for it properly so I don't think they are in as bad a spot as you think.

So...In a perfect world, all three hop out their contracts, and re-sign to avoid luxury tax, no? I imagine Wade takes another pay cut, Bron might too and Bosh will probably stays the highest paid player simply because he doesn't generate nearly as much as Wade and Bron do off the court.
What they are going to do with the rest of the team is the intriguing part. UD will be 34 after next season, Shane said that he will retire after next season. Ray will be 39 going in to the 2014-2015 season. Mike Miller will be gone, even if won't amnesty him, he won't be here for the 2014-2015 season. We will have a clean slate.

In a not ideal world...Wade won't opt out, Bosh might not either.
I do think that Wade will go in to the next season with a refine jump shot, because he just isn't the same player, even without the knee bruises. Now, he did have his most efficient and accurate season of his career, but that's because he also shot ALOT less. Spo will have to figure out a way to rest Bron and Wade throught the season more, Bron shouldn' be playing 38 minutes a night in January against Wizards, and Jazz and whatnot.

Jarrett Jack, nice! If Kyrie misses some time, I will feel better. I have liked Jack quite a bit the past few years. A little pricier than I'd have liked, but he's a good veteran with playoff experience. Clark is essentially a one yr deal too, which makes him being overpaid easier to stomach.

For anyone that actually cares about summer league, looks like the Heat are bringing Myck Kabongo (dynamic point guard), D.J. Stephens (6'5" guy that plays like a 7 footer because he leaps higher than anyone in NBA combine testing history), Dewayne Dedmon (7 footer, reminds of The Warden), Drew Davis Jr. (UCLA's point guard, pure assist man), Cedrick Jackson (Norris Cole's old teammate at Cleveland State, bounced around lower realms, looks like a pure scorer type), Jarvis Varnado (Center that was on roster all year), James Ennis (the draft pick, tall athletic shooter) and Ian Clark (Belmont, small-ish 3 point shooter and pure scorer)....to Orlando.

Here's the lost of free agents for next year. Lets put RFAs aside. If the Lakers can somehow structure a deal for Paul George that Indy can't match bulky for them

But of the players that might actually be free agents a real argument can be made that Wade and Bosh are still the second and third best, so why exactly would LBJ leave?

I don't think Carmelo will opt out or leave either.

Granger is probably the best "true" free agent and he is hardly a franchise cornerstone

Well theres no way to be sure what is going to happen, there are a lot of trades sure to happen around the league, injuries, etc, but if things stay the same I dont see the Heat breaking up either.
