these things can also do nothing. Right now it's here.............doing nothing. Not only that for it to pick up enough steam it would have to have enough of an initial impact IMO. Media or no media trying to escalate it.

I'm not either. Luckily that didn't happen, though.

You are making no sense anymore. The only reason it comes up again is if the media thinks its a story. The only reason they'll think its a story is if people like you keep touting it like it was a mistake.

No, it becomes a story because people think its not a mistake. They want players talking trash. It won't be a story because of me, because I don't watch or read about this. I didn't even click on the story in the OP. I know exactly what the media wants to do, and I'm saying I prefer the Dolphins don't participate, or even give them the time of day. I'd like them to do their best Greg Popovich impression.

So you're just going to be contrary, regardless of reality?

If you guys didn't start in with the same old "just shut up and prove it on the field" crapola this story becomes about what Ellerbe brings to the table and not some fabricated bulletin board material.

And in no rational way is saying "talk is cheap, we have to prove it on the field, X team is vulnerable" talking smack.

The media creates stories irrationally quite often. The Dolphins shouldn't give them the opening to do that.

The Dolphins didn't. The media created this and you bought in hook, line and sinker.

The media couldn't create it unless Ellerbe said they were vulnerable. You still don't get it.

And to be clear, I never even clicked a link, so the media hasn't gotten me. Have you clicked the link in the OP?!

This isn't complicated. Lets have a little exercise here. Which headline would Americans be more inclined to click on:

    1. Ellerbe says "Patriots are vulnerable"

    or

    2. Ellerbe says "We are working hard"

    Its the first one

Much ado about nothing. Would it be Better if he didnt say it? Sure. It's a possible distraction. Is it that big of a deal?

    No.

It would have been better NOT to have said it but I don't fault Ellerbe either. It's not that stinging of a statement. Lets show it on the field.

If Pats go on to kill it this year and we go 5-11 we will hear about it.

The media creates stories all the time. They did it here. They can cut up and edit anything someone says to make it bad. I get it just fine, its just you're asking for an unreasonable amount of caution and then saying someone made a mistake when they qualified what they said. Its not a gaffe if the words are taken out of context.

Couldn't the point be made because their not robots this is why you don't give ammo, because the human element of emotion comes into play, and the most underrated part of the game is how these athletes motivate themselves?

And when he was asked if the Pats are vulnerable, and refused to answer the question, people would have blasted him for standoff-ish and too scared to answer a simple question. Instead he said they were but talk is cheap and doesn't matter what he says they need to prove it on the field. Instead of respecting the fact that he answered that question honestly and nimbly, you and other want it to turn into something else entirely by swearing up and down it was a mistake. If people who weren't being manipulated, like yourself, this story would have come and gone.

And yes, you are being manipulated. Just because you didn't click the link doesn't mean you didn't help promote the fabrication that this was a mistake and generate more discussion about this person's article. Again, if you and the others weren't wrong about this and defiantly so, then this article is about something else entirely.

He doesn't have to refuse to answer the question.

"Do you think the Patriots are vulnerable?"

"The Patriots are a great team. We are working hard, and hope to be a great team this season"

Doesn't anyone think that the patriot players are a bit sensitive at this point and they really don't need other players from other teams telling them how vulnerable they are, I know it would piss me off..Piece of sh&$ Hernandez does not define who we are might be the mindset.

Annddddddddd then went on to say they are vulnerable and aren't the sameteam without Hernandez....because you know HERNANDEZ is the only one that made them good last year.....sh%t might as well said they are vulnerable because Brady is over 35....

sure it could and most likely would have. "..the Dolphins don't have the confidence to beat perennial division rivals New England.." which would lead to "...is Coach Phlbin the right man for the job in Miami? confidence wains amongst the players..."

truth be told even saying nothing could have a spin put on it. I have no problem with what Ellerbe said. none.

well I certainly hope so because if Brady is wasting any time on this rather than figuring out who he is going to throw the ball to this year then I'm ok with that. I'd imagine he's in full on Sandusky mode right now trying to figure out how to make chicken salad with chicken $hyte. seriously if they waste any time on this then they really are pathetic.

Lol..this is funny, goin in circles.......Just don't tell another team their vulnerable man, and unless you guys can articulate how it's beneficial for our team to say that then what the fu$)?..it's not for him to comment on, and in fact that should be his answer.

Wasn't talkin' about anyone in particular, it's more so that we're on page 8 of discussing something that IMO is really mundane. I was hoping we'd switch gears the mechanics of why the Pats are vulnerable. If anyone's interested...

Anyone who thinks he said anything over the line must be hyper hyper sensitive and have a hard time coping with the day to day emotions and conversations humans have. No offense to anyone in particular and I mean it as a jesting way of saying it's the least smack of smack talk I've ever heard in my life. Because it isnt....

it's not smack talk, it's just unnecessary talk by an athlete who is still in the game..

Play the fu&$in game, ,let the media decide who's vulnerable..You do understand telling a team their vulnerable is telling them their weak.??? I find that to be not the way I would talk in an interview, you would, good for you, maybe if you were playing you'll be the one who gets their knee taken out.

I'm not gonna even comment on the rest of that crap Alex...

Of course! Every single team, every single player goes in thinking, knowing that every other team and player is vulnerable, that if you work hard they can be beat. If anybody is that sensitive to be insulted by the obvious then they would be just as insulted by a "no comment" as they would imagine the slight in the tone whether it was there or not and even if it was just in print. The statement is just that innocuous.
