mike clay was another guy I want to see in preseason action, every time I'm watching Jordan at Oregon Clay is always hell bent on some bee line to the ball, he's fun to watch, I think he's got a pretty good chance to make the team...I recommend folks going back and watching that kid, he reminds me of a young London fletcher..he's 235 5'11 Most thought Fuller would be cut last year but he hung on with a good camp like I thought he would, he flashed some interesting seam skills and a solid work ethic, he was always working after the practice for the four days I was there..and he made two of the toughest catches I witnessed..
That's what has me so excited this season. We have guys on both sides of the ball that can be used in a variety of ways. Always keeps the opposition on their heels.
I guess I should have expected it. Still, with the sell out crowd, players reporting in fantastic shape, and Dion Jordan in camp it's funny to me how he pointed out the one negative thing he could find.
Martin definitely looks bigger, and more defined, to me across the shoulders and chest, and in the arms. I really hope that translates to improved play at LT, he's got the intellect to get better and the refined body appears to show he has the desire to improve. Every time I see a picture of Grimes he remind me of one of those guys that's like a jack-in-the-box, never sitting still and with boundless energy. I can see him doing box jumps constantly around the house and annoying the **** out of his wife/girlfriend/partner.
Yeah, i think its common knowledge the biggest deficiency (not only deficiency) in Martin last year was getting overpowered, so coming in looking stronger is encouraging.
he was on the ole practice squad, but I see what your saying, I just count the squad as part of the team.
The home website is working like sh&$.. This might sound like hyperbole or you thinking I'm hearing something that I want to hear, but this is the third time I've heard Ellerbe talk and today confirmed that this guy is seriously suprised with how hard this team works, I mean he states after some question, " not with this team, these guys work hard man"... I only state that because you can tell the response was genuine and not just a player talking up his team, and coming from the team he just left, color me impressed with our overall work ethic, the message getting across from the coaches, our players for having full OTA attendance and training camp, the shape the team showed up in..
You know, FinNasty, DJ isn't sharing this to be considerate. He's sharing it because he wants to make sure you don't glance down and miss a second of precious information on his beloved Phins. Lol.
From Barry Jackson's notes..for some reason won't allow me to copy and paste.. Word is Vern worked out very hard this offseason, coaches felt he had an outstanding spring, wake and Odrick calling him Miami's most improved player on defense...that's good stuff right there cause that dude has so much strength he might just be that bad *** that becomes a star..Odrick says Vern takes his craft very seriously. Odrick started next to Solai today.. On a sour note, I wonder if Pouncey and Philbin are having a stating contest, reports are that Philbin is not happy, Pouncey says no comment....I only wonder if Pouncey is sticking up for his rights to express himself..don't wanna talk about his dumass The team is listing John Jerry at 335.....good job big man...that is really cool considering he was reported at 345 at the OTA's..John Jerry at 330 at the start of the season, we actually might be able to see what kind of talent he possesses. Word is Ryan's timing was off on the deeper stuff but sharp elsewhere. Dimitri Patterson was playing the nickel mostly and looked solid. That's about it...I'm really excited for Vern,I remember what happened last camp that made me think this is one tough sob, I'm gonna go find the story and post it in a minute.. .
Someone needs to go back and learn how to spell in English. Evidently, You Don't Even Know It! Former English Teacher!
"Vern got hurt..but gets up 10 mins later, and pops on his toes..he was pissed for a second..That guy may have some good makeup." That was last year, I remember like it was yesterday, he was furious that he had to sit on the ground, got up and started hyping himself up and sh&$, dude might be a lil loco..
Ryan Tannehill looks a bit bigger to me. J-mart is obviously larger and put some muscle on. Those helmets sure are fookin sexy in motion boi!!!!!!!!
Great so Coach and Pouncey are in a beef, and MP is in the dog house over a godamn hat...wonderful...
He has said that more than once now. He said in his sit down with the Finsiders earlier last week and now after Day 1. That tells me it may not be lip service. Side note: How in the hell have you not commented on that picture of Martin I posted. I am disappointed in you.
Lol, he was just trying to help. He's speaking from experience so he knows how quick it can be. I'm sure recording would be easier... but I have a weird memory where I can recall every single play with the right buzz words, yardage, and short had descriptions... and can remember a decent amount of detail. The best though was when my wife came and let me dictate all my notes to her, so I didn't need to write anything. That never happened again, lol (surprised?). Recording it sounds way easier... but I think I may be stubborn and stuck in my ways...
I have fin, in other threads, did you see at the end of page 5 as it pertains to Ellerbe ?... As INvid says, I ninja'd your ***.
I know, but normally you'd write a 5 paragraph post about X player's body....then someone can post a picture of that player and you'll give another paragraph or two.
Just for you..the key word here when you look at this photo is symmetry, definitely focused on the upper chest anterior deltoid area, probably heavy incline, basic lifts to put on that good size, military, upright rows etc, he doesn't look like he just went full metal on his upper body, his quads and lower look like their in balance, (great calves) and that's real good, cause sometimes when these dudes think in their heads their lacking some strength they go all Arnold on their chest, and forget about the rest..I really like the way he's built in this pic, not a lot of lineman have that kind of symmetry, just look at the rest of our guys..Clabo, Cogs and Jerry have horrible bodies from a genetics standpoint, but this kid has potential to really develop his physique.. I hope it all works bud..you know I'm his biggest critic.. I have noticed him being seriously conscious of his technique all offseason, must have seen 20 or so clips and pics and I'm always thinking to myself, damn his technique looks good there. Getting stronger creates better balance and I do think that has been a major problem for him so we'll see.
Just to help DJ sleep at night. Here's Cameron Wake's post-practice interview. He's shirtless. And you can see the reflection in the door. Thank me later for linking this. http://www.miamidolphins.com/media/videos/Cam_Wake_Speaks/b9418540-2acd-4076-8d73-a92ff9e6f735
I think that is a little bit of an illusion when it comes to Tannehill, I have looked at him very closely for two years now, I would say not necessarily bigger, but transformed, and sometimes when you lose a little fat and gain a little muscle it can trick the eye, I felt and have been saying since last year that he needed to rip up, he needed to get deeper lines, lose a little around the mid drift and get more explosive, quicker, I promise he has done that, he's in much much better condition..I guarantee if you asked him, he would tell you that he worked harder on his body this offseason then he has ever before in his career..
