Just wanted to share my excitement! We just scheduled an appointment with DIRECTV for installation this Friday! NFL Sunday Ticket is included at no extra charge (Promotion ends on the 31st) so the excitement is a little overwhelming. This will be the first season i'll get to see the squad's EVERY Game. I may be missing some workdays here in the near future!
Better hope there are no storms during any games, or all you'll be watching is static. Had DTV, hated it.
I've got faith in this California weather! LOL. Although nothing is guarenteed, I think we'll be fine
I was looking into the Genie as well but the "Fees" associated with it didn't sit right with me. Still don't understand why there's an additional charge for HD Receivers as ALL content is either Hi Def or Digital. Guess that's business for ya!
Enjoy it. Love DirecTV. Obviously it's going to be vulnerable to weather, but the service itself is great and the technology is top notch. The phone and tablet apps are real nice, and the website is quite functional.
I've never had any issues with DTV... our internet service though? One rain storm and it goes out until the weather clears up.
I used to get a frozen picture and "searching for signal" message every rainstorm. With the exception of Sunday ticket, FIOS kicks DirecTV's *** in every possible way.
I have DTV and LOVE IT. Sister has Fios, no thanks. Congrats on getting to watch the boys all season!
I've had it in the past and took a two year break. I just got my service going again and also got the free Sunday ticket deal. I'm pretty excited about seeing all the Dolphins games again, especially since we have a shot now at being competitive. As far as the weather goes it can be problematic but most of the time when I had weather problems in the past I could still at least get the standard definition channels to come in without an issue.
The only issues there are with DTV are weather and price. Even with weather it may depend on how clear your signal is in good weather. Here in the Tampa area we have had crazy rain over the last couple of months and I can only think of 1 or 2 interruptions. The service costs more because you really can't bundle service from what I can tell. They can point you to Verizon, but there is no deal there. I have seen Dish, Fios and local Bright House Cable and none of them can touch DTV for picture quality. I don't know what the competition is trotting out now for set top boxes, but I have 1.5TB of recording space between 2 boxes and I really don't think I could fill it With that said, if Verizon ever got a deal for Sunday Ticket, I would switch over to them so I could get cheaper internet.
I only lose signal during torrential downpours. Most of the times when it rains, there's no issue at all.
