I've always been basically assuming this year would be a red shirt for Thomas and that they drafted him as the heir to Incognito's spot. Given that, I'm not overly disappointed that we'll probably have to carry him for the year. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Way to early to be disappointed in any rookie... Way to early to pronounce any of them as contributors either... Imho
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly31s We got a fight. Someone took on Richie Incognito. We aren't sure if it is Emeka Onyenekwu or Tracy Robertson. Good odds that Richie would be involved.
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero1m Pouncey, incognito vs Tracy Robertson. Now that's just not fair on the rookie
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero1m Scrum of starting OL and second DL went for about 30 seconds. Game of rugby breaking out...
Guard position is harder to crack. Louis, Thomas, Samuda, Jerry. LT?....i just dont see any competition which is worrying. For the record i hope Martin mans up and does well but that position has no competition. We havnt drafted or got a FA to compete for that spot. Seems strange considering Martin was a ? mark going from last season and knowing Long wasn't a gimme to still be a Miami player.
Chris Perkins @chrisperk1m 1s v 1s. 11-on-11. Still no Misi. Trusnik at LB. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly2m Caleb Sturgis kicked a 47-yard field goal. He's 2-for-2 today Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero3m Michael Egnew has caught TWO TD throws from Matt Moore today. Both from inside the 10.
James Walker @JamesWalkerNFL16s #Dolphins DE Olivier Vernon with a pressure or would-be sack of Pat Devlin. Chris Perkins @chrisperk55s T'hill to FB Evan Rodriguez vs. blitz. Nice protection, nice decision James Walker @JamesWalkerNFL1m BTW, S Jimmy Wilson has been getting some first-team reps today. #Dolphins Omar Kelly @OmarKelly2m Jonas Gray gets stopped in the backfield by Cameron Wake.
Dave Hyde @davehydesports16s Dolphinds ending practice with Wildcat plays. Just for the memories Wonder who's taking the snap? Edit - tweet was then deleted, so I'm guessing it wasn't the Wildcat.
Thought he came up short, literally, on that deep slant from Moore in the game, it looked as though he didn't leave the ground to get that ball, fairly easy catch considering the angle, all you have to do is time your jump right, extend and snatch it..
Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP11s Ross: we just gave you a lot of money, don't screw this up... (Not actual quote) Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP1m Stephen Ross chatting with Reshad Jones on sideline. #Dolphins
By the same token, unless he says he's not 100%, the coaches have no way of knowing his status outside of him running lame. If he felt he was good to go and was frustrated on the sidelines, he could easily tell them he's good. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk 2
Technically there was a Chad Bumphis note. Armando said something along the lines of he asked Nat Moore about Bumphis and Nat said that the kid needs to be more consistent, and then Bumphis proceeded to catch 3 passes, and suddenly Nat Moore started praising him. Which I thought was funny and indicated Nat probably hadn't noticed Chad Bumphis a single time this training camp and only said he needs to be more consistent because that's a stock answer that you can give about any player.
It would appear Michael Egnew caught 3 TDs today. Glad to see he's continuing his strong work from the preseason game. He must have gained some confidence.
I saw that somewhere as well... But not over publicized.. Which I thought was interesting since it was egnew. If it was anyone else it would have been all over the place.
Guess 5 catches for 85yds for the youngster in a competitive game means nothing. Yep...he got to be consistent. (facepalm) I must be missing something.
Seems you are correct about his fragile mind set. Keep the swagger going young man. I have not been able to go to a game down there since 04 Midwest can suck it.
And it's interesting that the beat writer that advertised it was the same beat writer who earlier in camp was absolutely killing Egnew, pointing out every little mistake and accompanying it with some kind of snide note like "Will. Not. Make. This. Team."
Or they showed him a letter of termination on the sideline after his early drop. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk 2
Well in a de facto way he's also competing with Jorvorskie Lane and Evan Rodriguez. If the Dolphins keep a true fullback that keeps Charles Clay as a tight end, which makes Egnew the 4th one of those and they may decide they don't need a 4th. I'd say he's competing with Lane, Rodriguez and Miller...and so far he's winning.
I'll let you know whether that is good or bad... as soon as I find out how many TDs [insert future HOF tight-end] caught at practice today.
