Roster Moves | The Dolphins have waived G Jeff Braun, G Chandler Burden, DT Chris Burnette, LB Alonzo Highsmith ; WR Kenny Stafford. Miami Dolphins (@MiamiDolphins) No surprises here
I had hope for him too, there were some positive reports early from camp and the rookie camp. Too bad Stafford doesn't have his Uncle's skills
The most interesting among them is Chandler Burden. But I suppose he had a rough game against the Texans.
so bad they couldn´t even get one more chance tomorrow, probably just taking snaps away from other players
I have no problem with cutting guys early. There are guys that actually need more work to determine whether they're going to make it or not. When ya know, out the doe
More snaps for Brenner tryout on Saturday? I know you said the coaching staff seems interested in him
Generally in the 3rd preseason game (4th for the Dolphins due to HOF) the starters play almost 3 quarters. There really isn't enough reps to give the bottom 10 to 20 players time, especially with the first cuts coming next week.
I know its mostly starters but with the limited snaps available I assume they want Brenner to be taking them
There aren't going to be that many snaps for the bottom of the roster players with the starters playing into the 3rd. The earlier they get cut, the better b/c it gives them more opportunity to latch on elsewhere. That's actually pretty nice of Ireland...
This is how I feel about Chad Bumphis. That name has so much potential. Hoping he has a big game tomorrow.
Not much chance of that. They had a better running back last year in Bush, but they decided to go with an unproven Miller and an injury prone Thomas as their main backs this year. I still think letting Bush go in free agency was a mistake, but hopefully Miller and Thomas will prove me wrong this year. It also wouldn't surprise me if Thomas isn't the starter once the season begins. So far he has had a better preseason than Miller.
I was originally going to go with a McNutt joke, but Bumphis was playing better so I hedged my bets on Bumphis making the team.....forgetting brandon marshall was too long too (could be richard now instead)
I think Bush is a more proven back, but I don't know about better, or at least potential to be better. Sometimes you have to make that jump on a leap of faith. I'll agree we haven't seem much decisiveness from Miller, but we also haven't seen much in the way of any kind of consistency along the OL for various reasons... As I saw from Miller last year, he's done the same this offseason...flashed great ability at times... It's the at times that hurts, but also remember that this offense has made a few unknown backs to be suddenly 'known'... I hate to keep saying this, but we really have to just wait it out for a bit longer to see where this O is, including the backs... Maybe we'll see something a bit more this week ??
I am a big University of Miami fan. I saw Miller play throughout his career at UM. I thought he was a great pickup where the Dolphins drafted him in 2012. I just feel he is more of a change of pace back than an every down back in the NFL. I just don't think he will be able to take the constant pounding if he ends up getting the ball 15 or more times a game. He has excellent speed and as a chance of pace RB, he would be able to utilize that speed without taking that constant pounding. Right now I still feel Bush is a better all around RB than any of the RB's on the Dolphins roster. Hopefully one of them will step up and make me happy the Dolphins didn't resign Bush. I just know that as of today, I would feel better about the RB position if Bush was still on the Dolphins roster.
Honestly I kind of agree. Especially with how much Miami has in cap space. I do hope that one of the other runningbacks step up, however I do not agree with getting rid of a playmaker when they could have kept him.
