Earlier in the game, Dion Jordan had a moment where Luck had dropped back, and right as he passed the ball, Jordan had a perfect from-tackle right into Luck's mid-section. The result of the play was an inaccurate throw that could have, but didn't result in an interception. I think Dan Fouts commented on the perfect form tackle from Jordan on that particular play. Seems like, he should have followed thru with that same sort of tackle later on. Because... ...later in the game, Jordan fought through the offensive line again -- I'm sure everyone that watched knows the play to which I'm referring. Where again, Jordan has an open shot at Andrew Luck, but this time, he just bumped him standing upright... sort of just pulled up on the play. Luck rolls off the bump and takes off for a first down. And I was left scratching my head thinking about what happened. The folks I was watching the game with, the only somewhat reasonable conclusion that anyone came up with was that he thought Luck had already let go of the ball. If that would have been the case, then Jordan taking a hit on Luck in that situation would have been a late hit. However, Luck hadn't released the ball or anything close to it. Does anyone have an explanation of what happened there? Was Jordan asked about that play? I haven't heard anything about it, and it's still kind of puzzling. I think the Colts went on to have their go-ahead score on that drive, but maybe I'm mixing up drives. Really, though, if you're ever in doubt, it just seems like following Al Davis' advice is probably the way to go. That was: "The qwattahhback must go down, and he must go down hawwwwwwd!!!" But that's not what happened. What did?
I don't know Finrunner. But, I too was left scratching my head wondering WTF. So, I too would appreciate any enlightenment.
It was a mistake, I doubt he makes again. I think we can forgive him...no? I read somewhere he did in fact claim he thought Luck had thrown the ball.
Well, that would explain, that he thought the ball was gone, but man....that would have ended the game a few plays earlier than it was...
It sucked a lot, especially in the moment. But if you're evaluating process over results, you have to love him getting to the QB like that. I believe that drive ended with the Grimes pick in the endzone so it didn't end up hurting us.
I was more puzzled. Even later in the game, where Chris Clemons peeled off the WR and then dropped the interception -- really a good play by Clemons except for holding onto the ball (kind of like making it to the bathroom when you really have to go, but not being able to get your zipper down) -- that play had me yelling, "No!" and thinking we'd missed a chance -- like last year -- to stop the Colts drive and win the game. Fortunately, our defense showed more resilience than I thought they might have in them (victimized by too many past Dolphins defenses). Jordan's play, I was just like, "What the heck?" It was like he had to have missed something. He's usually a physical guy.
I've been hoping to read something like that. I'm glad somebody has seen it. That's the only thing that makes sense.
I was babysitting my two young nieces yesterday and I think I might have scarred them for lift when I exploded out of my skin screaming at Jordon, my sister might have to put them in therapy, it was a very ugly scene.
I personally believe he thought he was strong enough to do what he did to knock him down. It worked in college. I agree FinD, that will not happen again
Ya, it looked like Jordan thought Luck had released the ball. If you watch Jordan, it looks like he kinda pulled back at the end… and then after the hit, he just kinda stood there for a second before he realized Luck still had the ball.

There's nothing in Jordan's character that indicates he'd lie about that. In fact, there's more to suggest he wouldn't. He's also faced Luck in college and knows what it takes to tackle him.
Watch Jordan after he hits Luck. Thats what made me think he thought Luck had released the ball... He kinda stood around for a second... then saw Luck still had the ball and went after him again.
I was livid after that as well, but figured that's why he did it - was the only thing that made sense. A bit after that it hit me that it seemed like the team made a concerted effort to avoid penalties of this nature on Luck...
We will need video evidence in this thread to settle this. Get busy FinD Loop it and put it in extra slow motion/sea turtle speed so you can see it.
That is what it looked like to me. That makes me happier than I was. I was so mad. Thank god for Grimes interception.
Lock 'em up! Seriously, the biggest defensive difference between previous years and this year may be consistent corner play.
Yep. I don't know if it was an intentional fake. More likely that Luck just pulled the pass down thinking he's getting sacked... I think Luck was just as surprised that he wasn't sacked as Dion was that Luck still had the ball... lol
I blamed Soliai for getting injured on Jordan because IND should have punted. Following play, Soliai goes down. I was so pissed I had to be told to shut up about it because I kept going off.
Im excited about the cb depth we beat ind, with Patterson,Davis,Taylor out...davis and Taylor will be better then vontae and smith mark my words.Davis and Taylor are playmaker
I can understand the puzzlement. I was at first puzzled because he's such a physical guy (tall, too), so I figured if anything he could tackle, which then lead to my immense rage I 'd I didn't realize he got hurt is he okay
I wouldn;t want to be the next QB Dion has lined up for a sack.
It looked like Luck put on an invisibililty cloak because our defenders acted as though they didnt see him ....grasping at air . Deceptive escapability demonstrated by Luck a quality I didnt realize he had.
I blame Ireland for Soliai getting hurt. Afterall, he drafted Jordan who pulled up and didn't sack Luck so Indy didn't punt which caused Soliai to get hurt.
