Blame the coaches, their play calling and defensive schemes - looking at you prevent defense on 3rd and long - didn't give us much of a chance to win this game.
Another thing is the offense looks good with L Miller out there, we were actually running the ball with success... I actually think the big turn in the game was when the Dolphins had 3rd and an inch and they ran it to the weak side with D Thomas....wtf
The prevent defense. Which we all know...prevents NOTHING. And RB mismanagement. Some things never change.
I can give Tanny a bit of a pass. His OLine blows, the run game is inconsistent, and Mike WAllace is NONEXISTENT. The guy is a bum in aqua thusfar.
Can they at least make it respectable? I figured we'd lose, but I was thinking a 10 point loss or so. This is just pathetic...I mean, the BUCS were within 2 points of the Saints in the Superdome. Speaking of the Bucs, maybe we'll finally not get dominated in primetime against them?? Its been a while since we didn't get embarassed in primetime...2009?
Yep showed no confidence in the offense can't get 6 inches. stop trying to be smart and run up the gut. That cost us 7. Also the defense play calling is horrible last few weeks. Way to much bend or middle and secondary are playing way to soft
Your crazy he made more than one bad throw. He also has to get better at protecting the ball. He cost us 15 points himself this game.
Its night like these that I miss being able to hide in the Club Level forums. Oh wait ... I have a job now ... or do I? Awww crap ... I forgot, they are defunding the government at midnight ... guess I am stuck with you animals til they clear that stuff
I just have one question, did we really improve when we made changes to the linebacker position? Honestly, I rather have Dansby and Burnett.
I agree with all of this except the run game... Showed a lot of progress until we were getting blown out... And Miller is actually averaging a good yards per carry... I wish they would get rid of Daniel Thomas, they call him a short yardage specialest but he can't even do that
He IS a short yardage specialist ... he specializes in gaining as few yards as possible ... to include negative yards
To quote Gruden when the game was almost over, " Yeah, we got our asses kicked, but before game 1 most of us here were saying if we got out of the first 5 games at 2-3, we would have a shot at the playoffs or at least a winning season. We are 3-1 and are going to have a fun team to watch this season. Why all the gloom & doom? We just don't have an OL.
By title this thread belongs in the rants section. Nothing good to come out of this but a bunch of haters to pop up. We lost to a very good team in a very tough place to play, with our best defender on the bench. 3-1 and young. I'm looking ahead already.
The game reminded me of a couple years back when they played Houston and no matter the yardage Houston threw it up to Andre Johnson and he got it, no matter how many people were draped on him...
Your right play calling did us in, but also Tanny has to secure the darn ball better. Also come on guys we played the Saints in the dome on Monday night, it could of been much worse.......maybe not!!
I apologize, didn't know we had a Rant Section. Sorry for the mistake But yes I do agree with you about being 3-1 at this point and still young with some winable games coming up
Thats where I'm at...but I'm not understanding the D...are the injuries getting to us THIS much? I expected the OL struggles and some Tannehill growing pains...but I did not think the D would be this...inconsistent? Pass rush, coverage, running etc. I thought Wallace would have a greater personal impact as well...sure he's probably pulling some coverage but...not terribly enthused so far. I'd be okay with never signing a FA WR again. Just draft and draft them till we find some contributors...
Yeah can't run prevent with drew brees. Definitely can't run prevent with drew brees and a pass catching back like sproles. Add in jimmy graham, and prevent shouldn't even be in the game plan.
Remember this, Brees and the Saints are one of the top 2-3 offenses in the NFL, we were missing Cam Wake, our BESt defensive player, Caroll got hurt halfway through the game, Dion Jordan isn't going to be any real contributor until his 2nd season, and we are missing Patterson, who when matched with Grimes makes up one of the better pair of CB's in the AFC. Also consider: Tannehill, who still has much maturing to do but has the tools, intellect and coaches to develop him (Philbin made Aaron Rodgers one of the best QB's in the NFL), and he still hasn't played more than 42 games starting at QB after high school. Tannehill also handed over IMO 24 points to the Saints with his turnovers (correctable, and Philbin will get that fixed). Take away those 24 points, we go to overtime at 17-17, or better because at least one of the turnovers was within FG range. We have a number of key injuries on the Defense, and this is only Coyle's 2nd year as DC, plus he has several players starting that didn't start last year. As for Wallace, you have to realize Sherman is his 3rd OC in 3 years, his first year under Philbin and with Tannehill. Give him some more time to learn the offense enough to where he can think less and use his physical skills more naturally, develop more synergy with Tannehill, and I do expect to see much more out of Wallace as the season progresses. Hey folks, even if we lose to the Ravens at home, which I don't think we will, we would have a 3-2 record going into the much needed bye week. That bodes well for us at least having a winning season, thus returning our GM (hush Ireland haters) and most of our coaching staff. If this happens, and I believe it will, we will have consistency and will hopefully add 2-3 impact players plus hopefully strengthen the OL in the draft or FA in the offseason, then look out AFC in 2014! As pissed off as I am at Tannehill for his play last night, we've found our franchise QB and can build around him and this receiving corps for the next 10+ years. At least that's what Gruden implied several times tonight, and he's no slouch. Smile Dolfans, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The Falcons were 30 yards from the Super Bowl last year and they are 1-3, we are 3-1 and have more things to be hopeful about than we have to complain about IMVHO.
meh we're just not ready for master class football but no reason to hate on 3-1 start. I was hoping to be 2-2 by week 5 and the ravens look beatable so could be 4-1 maybe.
All things I know in my gut...and I remain optimistic...its just a frustrating game for sure. I will say however, that my comments on the D go beyond this week and into last week. With that said, we were suffering the same injuries last week. Hopefully this game lights a collective fire under everyones ***. The most concerning aspect is the absolute frustration that was evident in the play after that failed first drive in the second half. If we never see that again this season, I'm happy. Lick the wounds and play with some fire next week...all you can do...
Hoo. Not true. He threw plenty of poor throws after that first int. The two other ints weren't his fault but he was erratic on some incompletions.
I'd post during the game, but..the games on. Game threads suck imo every time you refresh there's 3 new pages.
If Wallace is going to drop the deep pass in his basket at least run a god damn bubble screen and let him get it in space and get yac. Frustrating.
