I have been waiting for the game where tannehill just takes over the game and dominates like drew brees did mon night..He has not even had even a 3 td game in 20 starts. This is the game where he takes over and throws for 4 tds and dolphins win 35-31.He needs a bounce back game after Mondays nights disaster. The line is going to use the motivation from the insults of the saints lbs to give him the time he needs.Wallace will score twice!!! This is post is coming from one of the most negative mother ****ers on this site!!!!
It's time for the offensive line to block consistently, for the backs to pick up blitzes, and for Sherman to call more plays that keep the defense off balance. Then you'll se a statement, and not until then.
LOL at comparing a second year Tannehill to a heavily seasoned Drew Brees. Unreasonable expectations much? Brees was in the NFL for 31 games before he saw his first 3 TD performance. Then he had only one 3 TD game his third year. He didn't start hitting his stride until his FOURTH YEAR. Tannehill made statements against Indy & Atlanta.... as well as Seattle last year. Open your eyes.
I think he can top 22 Td's, for me 20 Td's is the bare minimum bar for THill moving forward from a ROI pov. Have not had a Qb go for 20 Td's since Fiedler, a top 10 pick should be able to top that for the Franchise, he's at 5 td's 5 int's atm with 25% of the season in the books, 20 Td's in 12 games is not that high a bar, a little more than 1 Td a game for the rest of the season seems laughably easy.
The playmakers need to step it up so tannehill can get more passing tds. Wallace played poorly on Monday. We took a shot deep to him and he dropped it. It wasn't thills throw, wasn't the timing, he just dropped it. Thigpen getting caught on that 50 yd play shocked me. 3-4 td games rarely happen entirely due to the qbs arm. Usually the playmakers gotta find a way to get to the end zone too. I think our guys have to get hungrier for the end zone.
This is what I mean about stats being for losers tho, Thiggy did get caught, we wound up with a Td anyway, on the stats side a "50 yd completion for a Td" looks better than "2 yd reception for Td" We scored the Td anyway.
Yeah, thiggy takes it in is one and maybe if Wallace caught that long ball he takes it to the house. Maybe. I think Tanny can break 20 TD's and can be 2:1 to INT's. I hope so.
Lol ok.I guess peyton mannings 16 tds 0 int stats are not the reason the broncos are 4-0.Hmm. I must be missing something? The best qbs in this league put up great stats almost every year. Tds passes win games. If he doesn't turn his td int ratio back to a positive this team is going nowhere!!!!!!!!
First of all plenty of young qbs have thrown for 3 tds in this passing league.Ever heard of ruseel Wilson, luck, griffin? As for brees he sucked his first 2 years and that's why they drafted rivers. Then in his third year everything clicked.
Your right, it is unfair to compare Tannehill to one of the best QB's in the NFL at this time. A better comparison would be to compare Tannehill over his first 20 NFL games to Chad Henne. After his first 20 games as a starter, Tannehill has led the Dolphins to a 10-10 record. Henne after his first twenty games as a starter had a record of 11-9. Tannehill has thrown 18 interceptions over those 20 games and only 17 TD passes. Henne had thrown 20 TD passes and suffered 20 interceptions over his first twenty starts. Tannehill has also fumbled the ball 15 times during these 20 games and lost seven of those fumbles. Far more than Henne fumbled in his first twenty starts. So far it would certainly be fair to say that Tannehill compared far more to Henne than he does to a great QB like Brees. Perhaps Tannehill will eventually become a top tier QB in the NFL, but at this stage of his career, he certainly appears to have a lot more in common with Henne than most people on here want to admit. This team was believed to be the most talented team the Dolphins have had in the past five years. Certainly more talented at the WR positions than Henne played with. I'm certainly not saying Tannehill is the next Henne. Because I never thought Henne should have been a starting QB in the NFL. I just think that it is time Tannehill takes that next step to become a better QB in the NFL. He has had some decent games over the span of his first 20 starts, just as Henne did. He just needs to start showing that he can become the QB for this team for the next decade. So far, he is still a huge question mark at the QB position for the Dolphins.
Its pretty hard to compare Tannehill to Henne too IMO. Henne was a 4 year starter at QB at Michigan... That's already far more experience at QB at the top levels than Tannehill has had. I think were all blowing this whole thing out of proportion here. At least two of those INT's share blame on the WR's, There were also several drops Monday night. Sometimes a QB just has a bad game, behind this OL, its no wonder that happens.
I'm not saying anything but what the stats say at this time. I think Tannehill has far more of an upside than I ever thought Heene did. I just remember there were many people on this forum and in South Florida who thought Henne was the long term answer at the QB position after his first year and a half as the starter for the Dolphins. Unfortunately Henne only got to a certain level and never improved from that point forward. Hopefully Tannehill will continue to grow as an NFL QB, but right now he is what he is and I think that we still have to wonder if he will the long term answer for the Dolphins or not. I certainly hope he is, but I'm not convinced at this time.
I'm still optimistic for Tannehill. We know that he's already reached Henne's ceiling. and from his play this season (sans the Saints game) it looks like he is on track to move past that ceiling. what keeps us up at night is how far can Tannehill go? will he stop at Matt Schaub's level (not that far off IMO), or can he reach the level of a Rothlisberger?
Saying Tannehill deserves time because he had limited starts in college at the QB position is really nothing but an excuse. The fact is that while Henne was a four year starter in college, he didn't have the advantage of running the same offense in the NFL that he did in college. Tannehill didn't have to come into the pros and learn a new offense. Because the OC for the Dolphins is the same guy who was his HC in college and the Dolphins run the same offense Tannehill ran at Texas A&M. Tannehill also wasn't the starter for four years at A&M because he wasn't better than the QB's ahead of him earlier in his career at A&M. It wasn't because he was actually a WR who later became the QB. He went to A&M as a QB and only played at WR because he was beat out for the QB job. I think having your former college HC as the teams OC and already knowing the offense has been a greater benefit to Tannehill than other rookie QB's ever get. I think it is time that people stop making excuses for Tannehill and blaming his limited time at QB in college for his play in the NFL. When he plays well, this limited playing time in college is never discussed. It is only when he plays poorly that it is used as an excuse. The fact is that Tannehill is now and has been for over a year, a starting QB in the NFL. He needs to start showing he can play at a consistently high level, game in and game out. That is what is expected from a QB who many feel can eventually be a franchise type QB in the NFL. I believe he can take that next step forward, but I really am sick and tired of people making excuses for him which discuss his limited play at QB in college. You want to blame the sorry play of the OL or Tannehill's complete lack of pocket awareness for his troubles, I can buy that. I no longer accept his limited QB play in college as a valid excuse.
This team is only going as far as Tannehill takes them. I agree he is probably the best QB the Dolphins have had since Marino retired. Pennington had one very good season, but he was never going to be the long term answer for the Dolphins at the QB position. Hopefully Tannehill can forget the Saints game and go back to the QB he was for most of the first three games this season. He still needs to become more aware in the pocket and I honestly think Matt Moore throws a better deep ball than Tannehill does. Of course Tannehill has a great arm and hopefully he can learn to throw a better deep ball. As far as his pocket awareness goes, this is the one area he needs to improve in very quickly or I just don't see him making it through 16 regular season games. The OL is terrible, but Tannehill has just got to be able to get rid of the ball or escape from the pocket to help him avoid all those hits.
Scoring more points then opponents is what wins games, a win 7-0 is still a "W" So no, Manning's Td to Int ratio is not why the Broncos are 4-0, the reason is they have scored more points then opponents when the games have ended. Thus, stats are for losers, final scores are for winners.
I guess marinos a loser!Without his so called stats he doesn't make the hall of fame. As for manning you are just being plain stubborn. They have scored more points than the the other team because of his 16 tds.Correct or am I missing something here?
I am still not sure whether he has that kind of game in him. He's not a bad QB, but I've yet to see any evidence that he can be a great QB.
Just look at his QBR at this point of his career compared to Joe Montana, John Elway and Roger Staubach. Seriously, someone else do it, cause I'm not. Instead of saying he has to be Rogers, Brees, Manning, Ryan or Brady, how about he just put up numbers like Stafford's 2nd and 3rd year (Stafford had some major rookie pains). I'm sure everyone will be happy with Stafford like numbers. As far as having a statement game, maybe he can make a statement to a secret source regarding his coaches sub par play calling and it can be leaked on Monday.
Td to int ratio has never won a single game, it is a stat and nothing more. A Qb can have a 4 to 0 Td to int ratio in a game and the team can still lose the game. Which is why stats are for losers, scoreboards are for winners.
I think with all the talk this week leading up to the game, it will really tell a lot about Ryan's development, meaning right now he's got to think about things besides reading a defense, I wanna see if worrying about those fundamental things affect the mental parts of his qb'ing...
Even that is difficult to evaluate. I agree that Moore threw a pretty long ball, but he also had B Marshall going up and getting the ball. The only issue I have with Mike Wallace is that he's not a big receiver who goes up and aggressively brings down the ball. either he's outrunning the defender and has room to catch the ball, or you have to throw it perfectly in his bread basket. I doubt Moore could function any better with Wallace. Look how Jimmy Graham pulled that ball down on MNF in the middle of 3 defenders. We have no one who can do that.
Honestly despite being 3-1, I feel like we're still lacking weapons for the guy. Hartline would be best at the Welker role in the slot. Mike Wallace, he's fine but I don't like him as a first option. I hope our scouts are staring at tight ends and receivers for next year's draft. We need a true threat. You look at some of the contenders around the league, and their first option is significantly better at everything football related than our first.
I'm with YA bro! Every player on this team should be thinking like you. Everyone has to step up Sunday (Even the most negative of us all).
