The 5 yards we lost on that last sack made the difference, imo, between Sturgis comfortably hitting that kick and us losing. O-line is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd biggest reason for this loss. Thoughts?
our offensive line didn't even hold on his kick.. there was too much pressure coming from the right side. I am confident Sturgis can kick it from 60 yards.
How do you win the turnover battle and still lose the game? Let your QB get sacked 5 times. Or was it 6? I lost count.
I'm not happy we lost, and I think it's an abject failure that we are so far into our tenure with this GM and the O-Line is still made up of Popsicle sticks and duck tape. It's unreal to me how much this line has regressed from last year to this year. I still don't understand why we let Jake Long walk away - it's clear we miss him, and that Johnathan Martin is a much better fit for the right side as opposed to the left.
Tannehill is getting no help man. Way to put the entire team on the shoulders of your young 2nd year QB. O-line is atrocious, just horrible. and Zero!!! running game, none. None!!. Drops, drops and more drops. We cannot win this way
Despite having a putrid o-line, we had a chance to win the game at the end. A lot of nerves out there with all the drops and Tannehill being off game a little today. I had confidence in Tannehill during that last drive but receivers just literally dropped the ball. Things can be fixed and we're not as bad as some people say we are on this site. So many negative fans in chat today.
I think the GM will be fired at the end of the year. It's inexcusable to have those two offensive tackles on the field. They're terrible.
Tannehill has got to start moving in the pocket. O-line sucks but he needs to move some and get rid of the freaking ball.
While they did cost us the game, that is 24 sacks for RT now this year, I wasn't really happy about the spike on 1st down, we had enough time and could have used another down there. No need for it. Not a good loss at all.
The drops are very disturbing, but part of the domino effect of an Oline that has Tanehill nervous he'll get sacked immediately so rifling throws perhaps a hair of a second ahead of time for the routes. I mean, if he could let Wallace complete that inside fake and outside cut then hit him a stride towards the sideline it's a completion. But Tanny is being headhunted back there and it's even ****ing his timing up as he throws the ball earlier and ealrier in routes abd WRs aren't ready imo.
Honestly, if he were getting adequate protection I'd say that too. Hard to tell how much is him doing daft stuff like eating a sack to move his kicker almost out of range on a game tying FG and how much is 5 bad Oline players (and whoever is coaching the protection from rBs and TEs) he cannot overcome all on his own.
Anyone looking to pin this loss on the QB or drops isn't paying attention to how much this disgusting offensive line is impacting everything offensively. If I'm not mistaken, Miami could be on pace to set an NFL record for sacks allowed.
Agree... totally agree. Why not have a play in your pocket ahead of time that you already KNOW you run in those hurry to the line to clock it situations? Put that call on and if it's not there, throw it away. Maybe 5 seconds off the clock.
I don't want to hear anyone *****ing about the QB. He made plays. You got about 50 other things to ***** about on this team before you even get to the QB, and more than half of those things are in the offensive line.
Tannehill did enough. The 1,540,000 drops today, 22 rushing yards or whatever awful number they had, and O-Line being worse than a bunch of scarecrows would be are the reasons we lost. Would be nice if he had more than 1 second to throw the ball, especially at the most important time of the game.
Jim Turner has to go, period. Cutting players isn't gonna accomplish anything other than increase Tannehill's already high risk of injury cause we have absolutely nobody behind the starters that can step up. I hate calling for someone's job, but our only hope is canning Turner and hoping it lights a fire under the unit's *** in the bye week. I've got news for the decision-makers in the organization, the wildcard spots already belong to two of the second-place finishers from the other 3 AFC divisions, so unless we get past the Patriots this season is garbage. And theres no way we get past them with status quo.
That isn't true at all. Garner played well in 3/4 games last year except for the total **** fest against New England. He's a decent right tackle. I would flip the LT, RG, and RT positions over the bye week.
When the play is designed for a 5 step drop and he is getting hit as SOON as he sets his feet it's not on him. We are not taking sacks because Tannehill is not "moving around". We are taking sacks because we have two AWFUL tackles, the worst starting right guard in football and a coordinator who is too stupid to see the issue and design some plays to get the kid out of there. He can throw great on the move yet Sherman refuses to move him.
Until Tannehill has even below average protection, we cannot fairly assess the kid. Right now he has the worst protection in the league maybe with the exception of Jacksoville. If O-line improves: 9-7 this season... or 10-6 if it improves significantly. If O-line stays the same: 8-8 this season... or 7-9 in my nightmares. Danny Watkins, unless you are one legged, get your helmet on. Time to play.
The O-line gets the #1 blame but absolutely HORRIBLE game management bit us in the ***. We had a 3rd and a mile on the previous drive, burn a timeout. Inexcusable. Tannehill hits Gibson on 4th down. There was over a minute left and we were close to FG range. Why the **** did we spike the ball? It's on Sherman and Philbin to keep their heads and tell Tannehill (since they have direct communication with him) to relax, run a play. Spiking it there is ALL on the coaching staff.
You can't use pocket awareness and move your feet when you are under pressure the moment you plant your back foot on a drop back. Stop blaming the quarterback, it's a media myth that it's his fault. This is the worst set of tackles I've ever seen on this team and remember, Jon St. Clair once played here.
It's really frustrating that you have QB who is trying really hard, but no around him is doing anything to help. Hopefully the bye week can help in some way.
Zack Duarte @ZackDuarte 3m Tannehill has a huge red welt on his back. Ouch If their pride can't save them then these lineman have no business playing in the league.
Cut Clabo tomorrow, he's on pace to give up 20 sacks all by himself. He has no business being on the field, he makes Colombo look competent. Replace Jerry with Watkins after the bye week. We've seen enough of Jerry to know he's not going to improve. He's possibly the worse starting RG in the league. Martin is beginning to look like Wade Smith at LT. He's just physically overmatched.
How can you say that for sure? At this pace we are at 9-7 or most likely 10-6. The main thing is the Dolphins have to play for 60 minutes. Play for sixty minutes and we beat the Bills and Pats and that's well on the way to a wild card at least. This game, they seemed to take off plays or not communicate well. When they want it, the can really go after it as we saw the D play in the 4th qtr.
