Their wins are the bucs (0-5), the bills (2-3), and the falcons (1-4).

    No. They are not.

Keep in mind too, they got a huge gift in the Tampa Bay game. I mean, the Bucs literally handed them the game.

They are better than I thought, though. Their defense is real good. But if you stop their run game, you are in good shape.

I wouldn't say that. He's just very up and down. He looks like a train wreck one week then looks fine the next.

He looked fine in this game so he's probably scheduled to throw 5 picks against the Steelers next week.

It never is. No divisional opponent is easy to beat.

Hell, no game in the NFL is really easy these days.

Unfortunately they play Pittsburgh this week and New England plays the saints, so it's likely the jets will share the division lead this week. But they'll fall off in the 2nd half of the season when their schedule gets a lot harder.

After Pitt they have patriots, bengals, saints.

I talked a lot prior to the season about how I appreciate what the Jets are doing with the roster ASIDE from at the all-important quarterback position.

But even at that position, I love the philosophy behind what they were doing. I just didn't like the particulars. I don't think keeping Sanchez around helps anyone. I didn't like Geno Smith coming out of the draft. But I do like the veteran/rookie philosophy and how John Idzik probably looks at the position from a total investment standpoint and may not be beholden to one particular investment. That's the philosophy that got Seattle Russell Wilson, eventually.

I thought they made some investments that made sense. One of them being Mike Goodson, who made an impact last night. Another being Chris Ivory. Going after Kellen Winslow is a worthwhile investment. So was Antwan Barnes. It even made sense to get Calvin Pace back at a reduced price. I was completely on board with monetizing Darrelle Revis given his contract demands.

I didn't think they were doing enough at the safety position. Until they signed Kellen Winslow I wasn't sure why they hadn't invested more in the tight end position though I've always liked Jeff Cumberland.

I just always thought that if it weren't for the dumpster fire quarterback position that roster might actually be a playoff roster. I like the combination of Stephen Hill and Santonio Holmes, granted Holmes' attitude is terrible. I think that defensive front they have is one of the best. I liked Dee Milliner a lot. They have at least three good offensive linemen in Ferguson, Mangold and Howard.

They beat a Falcons team that the rest of the East ran a train on. The Titans gave the Jests a rectal prolapse. I'm hardly quaking at them. The one thing they have going is what the Bills have going, and we have going against the Pats...it all goes out the window against division rivals.

Otherwise, like all NY teams, they are newsmakers... but they are going nowhere.

Truth of the matter is, it's probably pretty close. And it's difficult to know how healthy we'll be win we play them, because aside from the first game - and we weren't totally healthy then - we haven't been healthy all year on defense.

Our wins are better overall, but if you look at how they match up against our team, the match-ups are pretty favorable for them when we're on offense. They will stop our run, and they have gambling CBs that break quickly on the ball. And they gamble to pressure the passer. We haven't been good at blocking that type of pressure this year, especially in bad down and distance situations. Cromartie was a handful for Julio Jones, and we don't have a WR better. We do have one faster. Depends on how their gambling works sometimes. Then, we probably have a better defense than their offense, but I kind of see it like the Ravens game. They'll get some running yards. And they'll hit some big plays. Depends how well we pressure Geno Smith, too. If he's pressured, he'll make mistakes. But he throws pretty nice intermediate and long balls, for the most part. Their offense seems more dangerous with him than they did with Sanchez.

To me, it's close. And we play the Jets at New York first. That'll likely be a pivotal game for both teams. The second game, the one at home, is the last game of the year. Hopefully, it means something for us.

their defensive line is pretty damn good and young at the same time. their two MLBs are playing well right now. hard to run against them. but that's not a problem for us since we'll be passing every down from here on out.

but realistically, if you compare them now to our team now (i.e. with all the injuries), I'm not sure we're better than they are. If our team gets healthy, then we're a better team.

Overall, I don't think so. However, their defensive line is going to embarrass whatever turnstiles are playing OL for the Dolphins at the time.

I wouldn't mind having their offensive line. Although there was one play in particular last night where Ferguson was abused by Osi... That Muhammad Wilkerson is pretty special.

If we played this week, I don't see us winning. They would bring pressure on every play, probably getting to Tanny before he can look up.

Tanny also needs to start running more, like Geno did last night. Those are free yards that need to be taken advantage of. Tanny's best pass of the game was the 40 yarder while on the run at the end of the game. His touch on that pass was great.

We still play them twice this year, so who the better team is will be determined on the field. The thing that needs to be answered though is how the Jets were able to rebuild so fast after being in the AFC championship game twice, just a few years ago.

This team was suppose to be a joke this year and it was the Dolphins which were suppose to be the Patriots main contender in the AFC East. Perhaps by being willing to change GM's after the 2012 season, the Jets have been able to quickly catch up with the Dolphins already. Obviously the Jets new GM did a better job in one off season than Ireland has done in the past six years as this teams GM.

The Jets have a better defense right now and a better offensive line. Smith has been a much more productive rookie QB than most observers thought he would be at this time. He throws a much better deep pass than Tannehill. The running backs for the Jets are at least as good as the Dolphins RB's, if not better. The areas that the Dolphins seem to be better at this time are in the kicking game and at WR. That is about it.

As much as I don't care for Rex Ryan, I also think he is a far superior HC ,when compared to Philbin.

I have felt all along that the Dolphins would be no better than 3-3 against the teams in their own division this year. I have seen nothing so far that makes me believe they will do better than that against the Jets, Bills, and Patriots this season. I could easily envision them being 2-4 against these three teams.

If Miami doesn't improve in pass protection, the Jets will sack Ryan Tannehill 15 times. Per game. Even before the season started and I thought the Jets would be god awful I was convinced Miami would split the series with them. Because that's just the kind of rivalry it is. Not matter which team is up or down they play each other very tough. I'm even more convinced of that now. Rex kinda wasn't bull****ting, that defense is nothing to be ****ed with. If Geno Smith doesn't melt down they will be hard to beat. But defense can only carry a team so far. Even if the Jets and Geno have a 2009 Sanchez like rookie season the Jets would get smoked by Denver or any other high octane offense.

Actually the Jets had no business winning that game last night. Mike Smith really sh** the bed when he didn't go for the FG right before the half. If he had, the NYJ's would have had to score a TD on that last drive and that likely wasn't happening.

As far as the thread title, sadly the Jet's looked pretty good. Their defense is really stout, and they had some good moments offensively and on special teams. As a matter of fact their special teams really contributed to the win. I think it's pretty close as to which team is better, and we will probably split with them.

I wrote in another thread a few weeks back that both the Jets and Bills could cause problems for us.

While I don't believe either roster is as good as ours, both teams have very good matchups when it comes their defensive fronts against our offensive line. I thought the Jets were going to be a little better than people thought because they have a very good young defensive line and have Rex back calling the defensive plays. That in and of itself will usually be enough to keep them in games most weeks. Geno is inconsistent, but on the weeks that he is on, like last night, he can cause problems. If Stephen Hill ever emerges as a go-to WR, they could be even more dangerous.

Bottom line is, unless we can get our offensive line performing at a passable level a team like the Jets, with a very good defensive line, will have the ability to cause a lot of problems. And with Rex dialing up a lot of exotic packages, it might make it even tougher.

I feel like we are a more talented team.. But when it comes to play calling I think nyj have the advantage.. Geno isn't being handcuffed... Of course we don't know what Ryan can do since he doesn't have time to throw the ball.. I chalk that up to coaching...

I couldn't agree more and that is why I would like to see them finish with a sub 500 record, but have Smith develop and improve as the season progresses. And to be fair, tell me how you think Miami would fair in a playoff game in Denver.

You are what your record says you are. At this point right now the Jets are a 3-2 team and so are we. It will be a fierce game when we play them in my opinion.
