The deep ball timing is going to take some time to develop. He certainly has the arm strength, that last offensive play he sailed it for over 67 yards in the air.
How much time is 'some time'? Mini camps, camp, practices, preseason, practices, 8 weeks of games and practices isnt enough? His throws today had nothing to do with timing. They were just terrible throws.
Manning misses throws, Brady misses throws, both fumble, both throw picks, both throw pick six's...Difference is both of them and not just them can win a game for you. Rodgers, Brees, Ryan, Eli, Rivers, Ben, Luck all prove to be human once in a while but those guys win games and you are never out of it with them as your QB. Thats the difference between them and Tannehill. Thats the point I have been trying to make. Tannehill is not that guy...Not yet anyway.
Hah, my thoughts exactly. Your job is to throw and catch footballs. We're coming up on like 6 months of not being able to throw and catch footballs on a single route that Wallace has made his money on for years. I just think Mike Wallace isn't a good all-around wide receiver. To use the line, a one-trick pony.
If Winston continues to play like he has until next years draft, he'll go in the top 3, I doubt we get him. And besides him nobody else stands out so far in next years draft, so this years draft is probably the best QB draft for a while. Now, i'm not saying we throw in the towel on Tannehill now, but if he doesn't start to look up by the end of the season, we might need to be looking for someone else.
Tanny needs to grow a pair, plain and simple. If I'm getting my arse beat to a pulp with all them sacks (some r his fault) i would be b@$*hing my oline and carving them a one one. Also is it just me that all we do is throw sideline passes either right or left, not hard for a Def Cood. to figure that out.
Let me tell you something, it isn't about timing, its about ones ability, how they see and how they process what they see. I have played with all types of athletes, fast, slow, average, above average, and turtles and it isn't that hard to adjust. You usually do what your EYES see, its how you can process that extremely fast and you wing it without even realizing how fast you were able to process the distance, speed, gaps between players and where you intend to place the ball and how much time you have to get it there. You think its "timing" to accomplish that? Its a skill, a trait, if its timing then every QB would be great at throwing deep balls. You can try to IMPROVE on it but you can't perfect it. Thats like saying how did Hornacek avg. 94% from the FT line or whatever it was but yet people who "practice" 500 free throws a day can't break the 80% mark. Not EVERYTHING is off practice, not EVERYTHING is off repetition or time. A LOT is of natural skill set and abilities that were given to you. Just like speed, just like agility, jumping, hops, length, etc. You can try to get a 40" vertical do all the work outs possible but you will probably just add 3" or so to your leap but you can never reach that 40" because your tendons, calfs, muscles, etc were not built for it as someone else's is. Same goes into processing distance, projection, timing, etc etc. RT17 might IMPROVE but he sure as hell hasn't progressed 1 bit all year. His balls are CONSISTENTLY short to wallace but you watch Luck and his passes to TY Hilton are near perfect placement but how come he didn't have that issue with him last year as a rookie or with Wayne as a rookie? One is 4.3 the other is slow. Shouldn't that "throw" him off because he has only had 1 offseason with him? AND he is only a rookie? NO, because Luck is talented and gifted in that ability which is what makes him so good, he is good at reading the field and processing things extremely fast, he goes through his reads faster than RT goes through his 1st read IF he even does that and he can accurately gauge his deep ball extremely fast just as he does everything else. Hence why, he is a GREAT GREAT QB and RT17 isn't, nor is he capable of doing half the things Luck does. Luck alone has this aura around him that you know you are about to win a game but RT17 has the fiedler aura for me. "holy crap is he going to do something amazing or is he going to **** it up." I hate to say it but I think RT17 is done in my eyes as a FRANCHISE QB.
If it's timing and underthrows to Wallace then he should just start chucking it and if Wallace is so damn fast, he'll catch up to it. I'm tired of the "timing issue." He hit Wallace right in the fracking hands on that deep ball. That's on Wallace. And while I'm *****ing about him, would it kill him to fight for a ball once and while? It sucks, because with Gibson out, they're going to have to force the ball to him more now. On Tannehill, yeah his play has been maddening at times, but I'm willing to accept it as growing pains. I still think he has a ton of potential, but with the line situation, who the hell knows. There's a lot wrong with this team and the 3-0 start semi-masked them. Teams like NO and NE will expose those flaws. Is it frustrating, sure, but firing everyone and starting from scratch has worked how many times? A little stability wouldn't hurt this franchise.
What are Dol-fans thoughts on Weeden? Because honestly, all I see is the same guy but Tannehill has better overall talent than Weeden. Before the season started, I live in Chicago, I told all my friends up here this...Tannehill looks to have all the makings of Jay Cutler redux. When he's on, you're in awe. He just makes plays that leave you giddy. The problem? He can't do it over the course of a season. Tannehill is incredibly and agitatingly inconsistent.
And San Diego gave up on Brees and Drafted Rivers.. Which one do you think they would like better now?
So every team should wait until year 8 of a QBs career before getting rid of them? Because Drew Bree's happened. Once.
Year one to year two is suppose to be the most important time for a player. For a qb that period is paramount to his development. Right now there's more he can't than he can. He may become a late bloomer but it will probably be not with us.
I would still draft a QB, not because Tannehill is bad but because the position can be played better. I do agree that it is hard to evaluate Tannehill when he spends most his plays running or on his ***, Oline needs to go with the exception of Pouncy
Rivers is a good QB. They went to the playoffs with Brees and they've gone with Rivers. Right now, I'd kill to have Rivers on our team, frankly. Tannehill will never have the skill Rivers has.
Tebow has already won a playoff game. I don't feel like Dolphins fans have the right to make fun of someone who's actually won a playoff game in the last couple years.
I think Winston will be the absolute #1 pick in the 2015 draft. So you are probably right that the Dolphins will have zero chance to draft him. They will probably be picking between 8-12 in the 2015 draft and they will once again lose out on a future franchise QB.
