"Just completely unaware." or something along those lines in Anarumo's referencing of Vontae Davis after the Carolina preseason game.

I think he is at least equally culpable, although the final call goes to Ireland. Philbin seems to want Eagle Scout personalities and if a player is a bit outspoken or a free spirit, he doesn't want to deal with them.

He is just one of several assistants with no prior NFL coaching experience and may be in a bit over his head. I was concerned how Philbin hired so many assistants straight out of college, and am still concerned. We keep Lou but let Al Harris get away. How smart was that?

The Hard Knocks footage did not at all suggest that the Vontae Davis trade was sourced with Philbin. Quite the opposite. Jeff Ireland explicitly says to Ryan Grigson "you called me," when he wanted Grigson to blow him away with an offer. Then when Ireland talked to Philbin about the trade on camera, it was Ireland who brought it up, talked about it, and Philbin just sort of went along with it.

You can say yeah well Ireland was just anticipating what Philbin was thinking but the fact of the matter is there were no suggestions that Philbin wanted Vontae Davis off the team or traded. He visibly, audibly went along with what Ireland seemed to think was best. And that fits perfectly into the pattern Philbin has established as far as things he's said to the media about allowing other people to do their jobs without micro-managing.

Once again the term, "Ireland hater" is used to describe those of us who want to see Ireland replaced. I am not sure if anyone has actually called them self a , "Ireland Hater", as you suggest, but I think the vast majority of the individuals on this forum who have called for his firing, have done so because we just don't think he is a good NFL GM. Not because of some type of hatred we have for him as an individual.

I wanted Sparano fired a couple of years ago because I didn't think he was a good NFL head coach. It certainly wasn't because I hated the man.

As far as not liking the job Ireland has done, yet being happy about the trade of Davis last year because Ireland drafted him. That is not true at all in my case. I never thought trading away their best CB made any sense at all. I blamed the coaches for this trade because they appeared to just give up on Davis and instead of working with him, they just took the easy way out by having Ireland trade him.

My problem with Ireland is that he has had six years to rebuild this team and I just don't see any improvement over the past several years and Sparano was replaced two years ago, so he obviously wasn't the only problem in the management of this organization.

Ireland specially said, "He isn't in our long term plan." and Philbin agreed.

There is a reason why "Ireland hater" is in quotes.

I think all terms "Ireland hater" and "Ireland apologists" and "Ireland Supporter" and "Ireland murderer" are all stupid.

I think having so many coaches with no prior NFL experience has been a definite negative. Of course Philbin is the person who hired all these coaches, so has to take the responsibility for the poor job his assistants have done so far. If he is still the HC next year, I would think that the next GM will insist that Philbin replace those assistants who just aren't getting the job done this year.

It wouldn't surprise me if there is a complete new offensive coaching staff in 2014.

While Ireland did make that statement, there is no way of knowing what Philbin and Ireland had discussed regarding Davis, off camera. It could be that Philbin had gone to Ireland and told him that he just didn't want to have to deal with Davis anymore and Ireland agreed with him and decided to try and trade him. Once Philbin and Ireland agreed that Davis wasn't a fit any longer, Davis no longer became a part of the Dolphins long term plans.

So without being privy to all the conversations Philbin and Ireland had in their discussions concerning Davis, we really don't have any idea who instigated the idea of trading Davis first.

No matter if it was Philbin or Ireland who wanted Davis traded, or both of them. It was a bad idea from the beginning and it seems worse the more you see how Davis has played for the Colts.

I also agree with your statement that we don't really know everything that has been discussed off camera.

I believe that if the coaching staff didn't want Davis traded, that he would still be a Dolphin. Either they wanted him traded or didn't care.

I thought it was a mistake back then and I still do.

the problems folks including myself had with Evans is his analysis...the details of his analysis was far from accurate and lacked real conclusive substance,he said some stupid things that pertained to things that aren't relevant with why we're losing..

I have never wanted to be right. I have always hoped that the Dolphins would prove me wrong and that I would have to come on this forum and admit that I was wrong about Ireland, Philbin and the overall talent on this roster.

I have only written what I have seen over the past few years and I realize that my views have certainly rubbed many members of this forum the wrong way. I will be at the game tomorrow night and I will be cheering for the Dolphins to win. I certainly won't be cheering for them to lose, just so I will be right.

I would love nothing more than to see this team go on a long winning streak and make the playoffs, even if that means Ireland remains the GM. I just don't have a lot of faith that this team can turn this season around and that is why my frustrations are expressed on this forum. My wife certainly doesn't want to hear me complaining anymore about this team. So I come on here, where I know there are many other Dolphin fans sharing the same frustration I am.

Hopefully after the game tomorrow, you can come on here and tell me I overreacted and the Dolphins are better than I thought they were. It won't upset me in the least if you call me out for being wrong about this team. In fact, I look forward to it.

Sean Smith just had a pick-six against the Bills, 100 yards to the house.
