    Well here's something to ponder.

If rape was really something that was OK with 99% of the populace...would it be rape?

I'm not trying to get existential here, but really think about that for a moment. It's impossible to use that example in a relevant manner because the very thing that you are trying to connect with in your audience (the abhorrence of rape) is the exact standard that you're trying to drastically shift, hypothetically.

You're right Chris, in that if the players choose to engage in this and everyone is cool then I guess there isn't much that can be done. But hazing has gotten way out if hand in the past and has led to numerous deaths in colleges, which is why the practice is essentially banned at this point.

Two points though, there is harmless hazing, like having the rookies sing. That activity is truly done as a full group, everyone participates and when it's done it's done. Some if this other stuff seems more like taking advantage of a superior position but ok.

I would also disagree with your comparison of this stuff to "paying your dues". You work in a professional environment as do I. When I was a first year associate I had to do the grunt work. If there was a brief or motion due at the Federal Court by midnight I had to do it. But that is being a lawyer. I was learning his to do the job. The hard work I was doing directly impacted the case and the result for the client. It was necessary and someone had to do it. And when I finished I didn't have to buy my boss a meal. It was the other way around.

So that is the difference I see.

Regardless this is a problem for the Fins which hasn't been handled well at all and is a failure of leadership to some extent

It sucks that our team always seems to be involved in something negative.

Well, looks like Nate Garner gets first team reps this week.

    FWIW, Philbin is now overreacting.

My statement was more to point out the silliness of Rafaels statement with more silliness.

    Nothing to see here, eh?

This is already a bigger embarrassment than Jeff Ireland's dinner with Dez Bryant.

LOL. I didn't yell at him, I asked him kindly. Let's not pretend that when Jeff Ireland's name is brought up it doesn't turn a thread into a ***** fest. Ireland deserves blame for sure, but this thread is not about him.

I see a problem with attempting to compare a football team to our professional environs. There are a LOT of unique aspects of professional football that truly do not compare with just any job you get somewhere else.

    Here and there
Look its everywhere, in the military in sports and in business and it's naïve to think it isn't, btw I have seen interns sent on wild goose chases for things that never existed, for hours or made to clean up break rooms cars put on blocks, so this high and mighty BS about "it doesn't happen in business" is just wrong. there are many level of it and at some point it does go way too far. but...it has happened since there has been man.

Not a single source was alluded too.

This effing stinks to high heaven.

All this is the media feeding itself. Martin leaves for whatever reason. Media speculates as to why, then that speculation gets passed as truth and now the NFL, NFLPA & the Dolphins all have to to take this fabricated lie seriously.

Meanwhile, every party actually involved from Martin to Incognito to the Dolphins deny any of this is actually real.

    The tail wagging the dog.

This has nothing to do with it being glass half full. This has everything to do with the way this story played out and how we've seen the media flat out lie in the past.

Now I am wondering if the dysfunctional atmosphere that seemed to surround our OL contingent had anything to do with Jake Long really wanting to get out of there. I've often said I believed it came down to guaranteed money, no more, no less. This entire situation if it has been going on for a while, could point to it being more than money. Maybe Jake and Richie weren't really on the friendly terms that all the tweets from the latter seemed to indicate during the time before Jake finally announced his decision to sign with the Rams.

WTF could he have said? My guess is a JOKE about race. Obviously we don't know yet but if that's the case then Martin should have said something to incognito instead of being all buddy buddy.

This will be interesting to follow, can't wait to see whats really going on.

No one said it was good.

A whole lot of assumptions are being made though. People have been guessing as to why Martin left, who said it was bullying, if the NFLPA is investigating, did Philbin do this or that, did Ritchie does or that and why Ritchie is suspended...all of it without a stitch of evidence that really points to a whole lot of negative. In fact, at this point, all we have is the mostly positive emails between Martin and Incognito about all this.
