Me too, I always thought Incognito was a very average guard anyways. People like him cause of his "yeah *****" and that taunting moment against the Jets but neither of that makes him a good player. Garner can do the job just fine.
If we are lucky . There is NO way this should be at this stage imo . Whatever did or did not happen , it should never have been allowed to fester to this putrid mess.
Somebody in leadership had to put this fire out. nobody did. It's embarrassing. Ross should clean house. There's enough talent on this roster we'd be a desirable destination for coaches and executives alike.
Ouch . This will be the real test for Philbin. First, in terms of taking control of a mess and second, in terms of figuring out a way to win with such distractions. Now, this isn't college. You can expect your players to be adults and not have to micro-manage their feelings. I don't put that at coach's doorstep. But I'm sniffing a tip of the iceberg with this one. If it is a clear negative on both counts, well, I think I'd make an exception for my "every coach gets four years" rule. Unfortunately, the best clear upgrades out there have cushy and lucrative TV deals (Gruden and the Chin) and want full control. If for some reason either of the two New York coaches get cut loose, or Mike Tomlin inexplicably shakes out of Pittsburgh, then packing Philbin's and Ireland's boxes and getting on the phone.
Something stinks here, but from which side? Cover-up by the Dolphins? Isolated incident in regard to Incognito? Overreaction by the Martin camp?
Hmm, tbh don't care very much, do think this is an overreaction "we will suspend you until we find out what is going on!" That is the admin side, the upside is..bye week, Garner can easily step in for Richie, but now Thomas/Watkins/Yeatman all are now on "red alert", Yeatman fills in for Garner's role, one of those 3 fill in for Yeatman's role.
Besides asking the person that drafted him? Seriously though , that is a separate issue and what is more troubling is IF the organization could have handled this in a much better , professional way. Isn't that answer yes?
The thing I'm most interested now is to see how Joe Philbin handles the team the rest of the season. If the team plays well despite all of this then that is a good endorsement for him. If they don't, then there are going to be some big decisions coming.
A point that was made earlier... Incognito has been surrounded by black team mates his entire life. Has there ever been anything racist brought up in the past? At this point, I don't believe anything. Martin has an agenda, the media has an agenda.
I suppose there would be some evidence to this. If so, it leaves the team with a s*(t pie to deal with.
Well apparently they received stuff that made them reverse stance, these racially motivated texts/emails and such. If the team can actually string together a win streak, people will slowly stop talking about it. And Incognito is not that great anyway with all the sacks he gives up, especially for what he is making this year. AND the O-Line playing like $hit is reason enough to can his ***. He should've been more worried about trying to be a leader to improve the horrendous OL play.
As Atkins blew by Richie Thursday, to me this is a goood thing, Garner did fine, real problem is now Clabo matters, he really has no natural replacement aside from Yeatman now that Garner goes to LG Watkins to me makes the most sense, but we shall see.
It'll be the same line that did work against Cincy. And Tampa ain't Cincy! - sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 beta -
I don't think that's a very good point. It doesn't matter if he has a history, it only matters if he did it in this instance.
If true Incognito is a ****in idiot, leaving voicemails, texts, those can be saved, duh, and even if erased, I'm sure they can get the voicemails back in this day and age, I'm glad good for Philbin, he had to do something
So what offensive linemen is available to workout? Cause we're going to need some depth... I mean obviously Dallas plays but we need a tackle incase someone gets injured.. Don't trust Yeatman.
Something tells me if these newest allegations are true, its likely that the original issues were blown out of proportion, and this is incognito's reaction to the aftermath of the false story. He had already threatened Shefter.
I'm a little puzzled by this "report" that Philbin tried to have Martin's date write something to the effect that his son experienced no harassment, and then he suspends Incognito a day later? Something does not smell right.
I guess the idea that where there is smoke there is fire still applies. You just knew more was coming.
