I feel like Philbin is in such a bad spot here, like no matter what he does he's going to get blamed for something. No win situation.
Well if I'm deducing here what I would say is this morning the Dolphins had no real accusations in their hand of bullying, but they did have Incognito in their ear demanding they address the issue. Then the Dolphins received a packet from Martin's "representation" (likely his parents, who are lawyers) containing detailed allegations as well as evidence (most likely the voicemails and texts referred to by FOX). The Dolphins immediately sought counsel from the NFL on their next move. The result of that counsel saw them suspending Incognito.
I sense some of us are just hoping this is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Get rid of him or them. That very well may happen, but the matters at hand disturb me. They don't fill me with the pride and joy of being a fin's fan. Really want something good to come from this. Good for all.
lol at these kind of reactions. The Dolphins aren't the only team to ever suspend a player or have an issue in the locker room. Come on now.
exactly. We still don't even know why Martin left for a fact, but as far as the media and this board is concerned Incognito waterboarded Martin while Philbin laughed manically...oh and fire irleand.
Agreed, but the blame won't be unwarranted. He is directly responsible for the locker room atmosphere. If he can tell players to pick up trash and tie shoelaces, then he can make sure his players are getting along, especially if they play next to each other. If this gets really bad, Ross may just flush the toilet and get rid of everyone. Philbin won't go down alone.
If Richie is in fact not the enemy here, then how does this look in terms of supporting your players, or did we just have no other choice to do so?? Darlington reporting that Richie is shocked and disappointed at the suspension..
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9921634/jonathan-martin-miami-dolphins-not-filed-formal-complaint-due-fear-retribution-teammates My issue is everything comes from the Dolphins org sounds like lawyer speak and this screams a lawyer move, doesn't scream coach to me
He has stated he isn't doing that anytime soon , so the option is to get someone in place to get this right . That is presuming the current regime isn't about to do that , of course there is no reason to think they won't and aren't getting things right .
Yeah, I feel the rest of this season will be Philbin's audition. If the team rallies together and wins it will make Philbin look really good. If not, it's time for a new GM AND coach most likely.
So, the Fins: 1 Were disingenuous when they said no bullying was going on and supported Richie? or 2 Were clueless in the past and then conducted an inadequate investigation this week? or 3 Are CYAing now without regard as to the truth or falsity of the allegations?
Ok, keep the team, anyways this is a big mess, from the team, to stadium issues(another thread)is just crazy already. Glad we didn't draft Blackmon
NO they aren't. But not every other team am I a fan of and support. It happened to this team and that is what counts right now.
If that's true, Jonathan Martin, I hope you've got an arena football league team in mind. No one in the NFL will dare bring you in to their team.
Sorry i don't speak, Firelandish. But I'll try to help you out. I think the original accusations of bullying are false. I think Martin and Incognito had gotten on good terms in the days after Martin leaving as evidenced by the texts back and forth. Then Adam Shefter, a reporter, made more accusations against Incognito, and Ritchie basically threatened Shefter on Twitter. From there reports have escalated and I'm guessing if there are angry/threatening/insulting texts towards Martin from Ritchie then they came recently as a response to Martin not squashing these reports and not because of the "bullying/hazing".
The settlement he could conceivably get, if he has actual evidence, is more than he could make in an NFL career. He wants to keep playing football, but if he has material for a lawsuit, then financially speaking, he won't have to ever again.
Yes, it's a big mess. But it will also show us what kind of coach and team we have. So, there's a silver lining. They'll either come together and rise above it or sink. Buckle up, fellas.
Are there people in that organization working in player personnel and public relations?...this stuff has gotten outta hand.
We do happen to be in the middle of a playoff chase..I just can't believe this was really bullying in the true sense. And if that guess is true it must if been hard for head coach to detect.
In the long haul this might be good. The OL needs a serious overhaul. Now there are no excuses.....do like Chicago and get us 4 new starters next year.
What's so outlandish about what I said? Look at the timeline of events and accusations, it makes perfect sense.
