Look, he was one of my favorite players before any of this came out, thing is I have always steered clear of people like that. He's a spooky individual and the type of guy you don't want to bunk with in prison, you don't want to have to work with a guy like that, you definitely don't want to go to a bar with a guy like that. The major divide here is between people who treat using a racial slur as an isolated, despicable action versus those who label those who use the racial slurs definitive racists for the rest of their lives, and have to go through a serious rediscovering of who they are. Sometimes one does not mean the other, sometimes they do.

Its hard to tell based on the quality of the video and devoid of any context, but it seems somewhat like Pouncey is actually just trying to go with the flow so the guy doesn't get any worse and do something crazy. Sort of like he's trying to calm the guy down.
I think my experience is the opposite. I've played basketball in many gyms for long periods of time, would have cookouts with guys of both colors that I played with, and would call a lot of the guys friends, but for black players, its obviously fair game to say it to one another, but for white players, it's just a line you don't cross. And guys that have... it doesn't usually end well. Conversations on just that issue come up, and while there are some guys who are probably more lenient than others, as a whole, it's just kinda taboo.

So Riley gets outed in preseason but they hold this video until now.. Seems harmless, guy was drunk I didn't see any malicious intent towards a race.. That being said, I'm white, I'm married to a black woman, have mxed kids, probably 3 life long friends all black and I have never once used the n word around them or my kids, and they call me that all the time and my kids have been using it lately, at least since they turned 18... Only time I say that word is if I'm in my truck singing along with rap by myself...
