Who is saying he has to be perfect? Plus these hypothetical numbers people put up for Tannehill to be off the hook crack me up, hahaha. "If he threw 6 TD in a QTR with his his left foot and pissed superbowl rings, people still wouldn't be happy." If he just put up numbers like Phillip Rivers, don't you think the fanbase would be happy? Like there is no need to go to the extreme, "does he have to be the Messiah for his detractors to lay off him." I'm not his detractor but I won't worship him just because he's a 1st round pick, this year is a pass for him for me, under a new GM i'd like to see what he does with a possible new offensive philosophy.

Aspects of this Offense are a huge problem.

The OL is a problem, everyone knew it was going to be a problem. NOTHING was done to fix it.

    We have no running game.

Tannehill makes mistakes from time to time, but putting it all on him is ****ing stupid.

how do you come up with this nonsense? First of all, Carlina's last drive was 80 yards [aided by a BS 15 yard penalty], not 95. Secondly, the defense should NOT have been put in the position to hold off Carolina one last time if Tannehill and the offense weren't so inept at converting all those possessions in Carolina's territory. For cryin' out loud, HOW MANY OPPORTUNITIES does a defense have to provide its offense to put a game away?!!!!

Here, let me spell it out for you. Hopefully you have the capacity to understand it.
    • Excluding Carolina's first 2 drives that started in Miami territory, the Panthers offense moved the ball beyond their 31 yard line just twice [not including the ridiculous Coyle prevent D before halftime]! Let me rephrase it--- 8 of 10 Carolina drives saw Miami's defense stopping them from crossing their own goddam 31 yard line!!!!!!!!! That's an offense that had scored 30+ points in 4 of their last 6 games.
    • Miami's D repeatedly stopping Carolina deeper in their own territory provided Tannehill with 4 short field drives starting at the 50 or better. What was the result of those great opportunities? 3 goddam points!!!!
    • All total, Tannehill & Co saw 7 drives in Carolina territory. Result? 0 TDs. ZERO!!!
    • Through 6 of Carolina's first 7 drives, Miami's D forced 4 three & outs, an INT, and 1 four & out.
    • With a 13-3 lead near halftime, Miami's D picked off Newton and gave Tannehill & Co the ball on Carolina's 11, but they couldn't convert the damn TD.
    • 3rd Down conversions: Tannehill completed a pitiful 1/7 from 3rd & manageable 6 or less.
The defense set the game up to be BLOWN OPEN before halftime but Tannehill & Co left gobs of points on the field and allowed the Panthers to stay in it and scrap their way back.

against a defense that is in the top 5 in passing and rushing, a defense that made the dolphins one dimensional the whole game. against a defense that allows 13 points. the dolphins put up 16 even with a dropped touchdown(or blown call) and a missed field goal.

What's that have to do with Tannehill & Co not taking advantage of opportunities provided them and leaving points on the board?! What's your excuse for Buffalo scoring 24 points? I didn't see Buffalo's offense stop playing once they hit the 13 point mark and say to themselves, "Well, we've reached our limit boys, let's pack it in". Get real, man. The opportunities were there, and what Carolina did in prior games has nothing to do with Miami not capitalizing on opportunities. BTW, Miami put up 16 b/c the DEFENSE handed them 3.

To me, Tannehill's weakness continues to be the brain farts. He does something smart and then he follows up with something dumb.

We're not going to sit here and talk about him having a bad deep ball on a day he completed 2 of 4 for 110 yards with a TD on super-deep (41+ yard beyond LOS) pass attempts. Not when the league average completion is 20 to 30% of those plays. We're not going to sit here and talk about his lack of clutch plays when he calmly led us down the field in less than a minute to tie the Cincy game to go to overtime, or when he made that 4th & 20 clutch throw against the Ravens, or when he somehow manages to put the ball right in Wallace's hands with a 63-yard impossible throw in an impossible situation.

I think what just ends up happening is the dude has lapses in concentration that wipe out some good things he does. But right now, he's not being helped very much. Rishard Matthews doesn't catch that strike in the end zone. There's no ground game to speak of. The pass protection is crap. Still. The coaches keep desynchronizing the route and backfield timing to where he and Wallace have to overcome the coaches' shortcomings in order to complete a deep throw. This is not helping.

The defense played well enough to win..offense has a lack of talent at the skill and oline positions, making it difficult to finish drives, offensive coaches playing conservative football and Tannehill not able to make enough plays on his own to overcome all their weaknesses.

Don't forget that the defense AGAIN couldn't stop the run in the 4th quarter.

That's been happening all year. Almost every game.

The sad thing is if Miami's offense could put a friggin' game away amidst all those trips into Carolina territory, Carolina wouldn't have been running in the 4th quarter. Wake & Co would've been teeing off in obvious passing situations.

wait, the defense holds one of the best offenses in the league to 20 points and we are hanging this on another failed defensive performance? this is on an offense that can't sustain a drive. top to bottom, coaches to water boy.

The reason this wasn't a blow is the defense, and Wallace with two great catches. D played out of this world for most of the game.

This is such a stupid debate. The people who hate on Tannehill put all the blame on him, when it should be obvious that he gets zero help. No run game, and protection that would make a Div III team blush. The defense craps the bed in the fourth quarter routinely, yet it's Tannehill's fault that everything goes wrong.

Sounds like the lyrics to the Texas A&M song while Tannehill and Sherm were a duo there.

    Coincidence?

Throws for over 300 yards. Finally makes the deep throws to Wallace. Has 2 other ridiculously long deep throws. Leading RUSHER on the team. Matthews, while he did get crushed, drops a TD. Coaching staff, per usual, stops doing what was working in favor of out thinking themselves. The defense, while on point most of the day, appears to be allergic to 3rd and long. So yeah, eff Tannehill. I hope some of you guys get what you want and he gets tossed aside. God forbid you WAIT for a QB to develop. Gotta have him be awesome right now. Why? Running game is lacking and the Oline, while better as a patch work crew, still is atrocious. Want Henne back? Harrington? Lemon? Beck? Green? I just don't get the fan base sometimes. Sure, I'd love to be in the playoffs and making a run at the Super Bowl, but face it, not happening. Why can't we just let the damn QB develop and work on the deep ball?

once again, you maintain no credibility. I'm not going to regurgitate DJ's comments, but he's right. Cam made plays with his legs today. he made a couple of good passes, but not as many as Tannehill.

Lol yeap you are 100% correct it is RT fault defense gives up a 4th and ten. Yeap that's it.

Amazing how offense breaks down its RT fault he sucks, defense breakdown down, it cause RT didn't do something earlier so the defense wouldn't have needed to make a play. Pure lunacy. Cannot even fathom these arguments, ridiculous.

so amidst your little tirade here, how's about going back through my post history and showing me where I've NOT supported Tannehill throughout his career. Give me something, anything showing I hate on Tannehill which would make any criticism this game seem routine and biased in nature.

Nice job putting the cart before the horse there bud. That kind of logic should get you far in life. The offense didn't cause Tannehill to miss Wallace on an open TD or throw him short on another one, both of which ended up leaving points on the board. The offense didn't cause Tannehill to go 1 of 7 on those 3rd & manageable downs. The offense didn't force him to throw a pick on the first drive, and it sure as sh** didn't force him to overthrow Clay into the EZ on 3rd & 3 when he had other options and could've run for the first down. I provided a list of specifics. meanwhile you provided s***.

The defense did it's goddam job the the entire game up until that final drive by realistically allowing 7 points, handed Miami's offense 3 points, and kept Carolina from crossing their own 31 f***ing yard line on 8 of 9 possible drives. Tannehill and the offense however did the opposite of doing its job by scoring ZERO touchdowns on 7 trips in Panthers territory. Only a fool would think otherwise. Miami's defense handed the offense 4 short field opportunities, one an INT on Carolina's 11, and Tannehill & Co shat the bed with just a FG from it. No, you're right, Miami's defense that basically shut Carolina down all game was more to blame than the Miami offense that either GOT shut down or shot itself down most of the game.

Better yet, how about not allowing Carolina to pass the 31 yard line on 8 of 10 viable drives. Oh wait, they did that.

How about all those TDs Miami's offense scored on 7 trips inside Carolina territory? Wait, that didn't happen. Not once.

Why do these discussions always seem to devolve into assigning blame to one side of the ball? The offense failed in the second half. The defense failed in critical situations at the end of both halves.

BTW, when did a team that's ranked near the bottom in yards and below average in points suddenly become one of the best offenses in the league?

Are you complaining that Matthews dropped a td pass after taking a helmet to helmet hit, and no penalty was called? I mean, should have been first and goal from the one, and three more chances at a td. Yeah, that's really on Tannehill.

BTW, I never singled you out, but it certainly seems that you're a little sensitive about people who are calling out the Tannehill detractors. You guys sound like me when I'm playing Madden. I really think Madden has ruined many football fans. People think that throwing 60 yards downfield with pinpoint accuracy on the run is easy and normal. Hint: it is neither of those.

But not when it counted, not on 4th and 10. Not when Reshad made the dumbest ****ing play of his life.
