Just some quick thoughts and would love to see your comments.

    1. I thought it was a great game yesterday and by all accounts, the Dolphins should have won that game. I don't think many of you follow the Panthers closely but if someone does, they will know that we have been on the other side games like this many times over the past two years. When I say I know how you felt at the end of the game, believe me I do. It sucks.

    2. Similar to what happened yesterday, Carolina receivers have dropped crucial passes in games that seemed to have cost us a win. I guess the big difference is that I think the cost of all those receivers combined does not = 60 million dollars. Not trying to troll but I do think Mike Wallace, while talented and can expose and burn secondaries (see game film from yesterday) but he is vastly overpaid.

    3. Tannehill looked very good yesterday and I think he can take you guys to the next level. He seems to be an intelligent qb and was very good with his decisions yesterday. I think 9 times out of 10 that pick he threw would have just fallen incomplete. The tip drill helped the Panthers out.

    4. The Dolphins are missing 40% (2 of 5) of their starting offensive line and really made the Panther pass rush look pedestrian.

    5. I think the coaching staff deserves a lot of credit. With all the attention and invasive situations going on down there, they have been able to keep the team together and install some very, very good game plans.

All in all I think despite a couple setbacks the Dolphins are still not out of the play off picture and IMO is a team on the rise. I am very glad we don't have to play you until 2017.

Best of luck for the rest of the year.

When YOUR team has won seven in a row, it is easy to be generous in regards to the team your team just beat.

As a long time Dolphin fan, I thought the game yesterday was typical of the Dolphins. They play teams tough, but end up losing more than they win. They have now gone six games and failed to score a TD in the fourth quarter. Yesterday they scored only one TD and scored exactly zero points in the second half.

The defense once again played well for much of the game, only to give up a long TD drive to the opposition in the closing minutes of the game. This has happened far too often with this Dolphin organization over the past decade.

Unlike you, I don't see anything great about a game when the team you root for loses the game. Since you are a Panthers fan, I certainly understand why you think it was a great game yesterday.
I just see it as another game the Dolphins should have won, but found a way to lose it instead.

As far as the playoffs are concerned. The only way the Dolphins will make the playoffs is if a 8-8 or 7-9 team gets into the playoffs this year in the AFC. Because that is probably the best this team can do with their remaining schedule.

Good luck to your Panthers the rest of this season, but as far as the Dolphins are concerned, I'm afraid it is, "wait until next year", for us Dolphin fans.

I'm fine with the "wait til next season" thoughts, I jes hope there's not a knee jerk reaction on this staff because then it will be wait til 2018

I do appreciate the kind thoughts. Being a serious fan of an NFL team that isn't good year after year is tough.

The Wallace comment is actually kind of funny. I mean if we wanted a fast guy to drop deep balls, we could have kept Ted Ginn. Wallace was better this game though.

This game showed how bad Miami is. We play down to teams, and can never just hit the throttle. It's a loser's style, loser's mentality, and it is who we are.

The Panthers are an emerging team. But yesterday was their let down game. 6 straight wins. A MASSIVE Monday night, gutsy win against a beast team. Then on the short week, on the road...NO TEAM wins this game. And the Panther's play showed that. They were probably as bad as you had seen since September. Flat and out of sync. Cam was off.

And we couldn't pull out the win against a team completely primed to lose. I really don't care too much if we make the play-offs. We can't win unless we hold a team to 14 points or less. We have a nice defense, but this is an offensive league. Why make the play-offs? Because you never know? I know I don't need to get throttled by the Broncos via a 50-burger.

Congrats on the nice season and good luck.

When you can't run the ball, it doesn't matter if you have the lead or not. The Panthers just started backing off the line daring us to run. We would run and still get stuffed. Hell even Peyton Manning relies on being able to convert a run play on 3rd & 4.

Tim Ryan in the game made a great point that running in the NFL isn't about the yards, but being able to run when you need to. We can't and so we will continue to lose in the same way

Can someone explain our run game? Some weeks, we run for 180 yes in a half. Some games we run for literally 20 yds. WTF is that ****??? Thats a team problem.

I have been on here calling for the firing of Ireland since 2011. So getting rid of him certainly isn't a knee jerk reaction on my part. As far as Philbin and his staff are concerned. I will leave that up to the next GM to determine if Philbin should be retained or not. Personally I don't care one way or the other when it comes to Philbin remaining the HC after this season.

As long as Ireland is not selecting the players for this roster after this season, I'll be a happy Dolphin fan.

So you don't actually care about improving, just that Ireland won't be GM???

Classy post, good luck to you also.

    PS

We were missing 3 out of 5 starters (Pouncey, Incognito and Martin)

Funny thing is this newer group seems to be protecting Tannehill a bit longer on pass plays.

I figure that getting rid of Ireland will improve the team. Because I have to hope that the next GM will better at selecting talented players in the draft and in free agency than Ireland has been.

I am not a Philbin fan and I wanted Fisher to come to the Dolphins in 2012. That being stated, I figure the next GM should have the right to select his own HC, but if that HC is Philbin, I am willing to give him at least one more year to see if he can improve as a HC. I would hope if the next GM decides to keep Philbin, he will require that Philbin make changes in his coaching staff. Especially on the offensive side of the ball.

If the next GM was to get rid of Philbin after this season, I am fine with that also.

    Nice post.

I think Wallace is clearly not worth the $60 million he is being paid. If we had Calvin Johnson on our team, then I say, "Pay the Man." Wallace can look great, and make the spectacular catch, but many times he seems to be out of sync with Tannehill, and often will drop a routine ball. Tannehill seems to either overthrow or underthrow Wallace. I am not sure they have worked a great deal on their routes. I think Wallace had a groin pull injury in the preseason and maybe he and Tanny never got on track, but we are now approaching Week 13, and Jets Week. If Wallace cannot step it up, why take the huge salary cap hit by keeping him around? Good luck to your Carolina Panthers.
