Yep, still Tannehill's fault.

If Wallace thought the ball came out right, then obviously he thinks the design was for it to come out more to the left where it could lead him better, so that solves that.

And it did come out slightly to the right, enough so that it caused Wallace difficulty as he's traveling left to right. If the ball came out a smidge left like he's expecting then it not only provides a better angle to assess the throw's distance but it becomes massively easier to track laterally and focus on the catch rather than focusing on the circus act you first need to create in order to catch it.

The difference: Ben's throw allows Wallace to focus solely on the catch. Tannehill's throw forces Wallace to focus on how he needs to get in position just to be able to make the catch.

I find it very humorous that Tannehill is being blamed for his throw being off considering that it was a 60 yard throw as he gets drilled by a defender. I'm not sure how one can watch that video and then blame Tannehill. I don't necessarily feel the need to blame Wallace either but it's a bit foolish to expect Tannehill to spot a ball that far downfield while being hit.

tannehill made a good enough throw, you hope the playmaker does what he is supposed to do and make a play.

To be accurate the dolphins offensive philosophy is to pass the ball often and use it as a run game. Like it or hate it is what it is and you will never see a run game with this coaching staff. It's not a bad philosophy because the dolphins faced an 8 man front every time they line up in 22 formation and passing is how they want to beat it. So Sherman went to a spread shotgun formation I'm guessing 80% of the time against a single high. That's what is happening and it is up to Tannehill and the offence to execute what is called. If not, should everyone just give up now and forget the season? There's games left to play and since this is what is happening the players need to play, execute and sustain drives given what it is. Is this fair on a 2nd year QB?...probably not but it is what the coaches have entrusted him to do and he is doing a great job but to win he needs to be more consistent in the 2nd half. People are allowed to critique Tannehill...He is not above reproach. Actually no one on the team is above reproach.

If you did CK like research on my post history you would see I NEVER blamed Tannehill, I just didn't blame Wallace. Both could've done better on that play.

And I'm very happy RT is a Miami Dolphins QB, but that doesn't mean I think he is above improving on a flaw.

It's not as black and white as people insist, it's a lot of gray.

Tough throw under the circumstances but, an even tougher catch because of the ball placement. IF Wallace was running deep straight down the middle of the field then he would be more to blame because the ball would have been to the spot where he was running. BUT, Wallace was sprinting deep left and the ball was thrown deep center. Another thing I just noticed, if Wallace came down with that catch where it was thrown he would be short of the goal line probably down at the one. Ten seconds, clock running and no timeouts we lose as time expires. Theres no way the entire team gets downfield fast enough to spike it. However if the ball was thrown more to the left Wallace takes it in untouched.

Just stated in my other post if Wallace caught the ball where it was thrown we lose anyway as the clock runs out because he would have been down short of the goal line.Go back and check the video. Thats why the ball had to be thrown to the angle Wallace was running- right to left.

Thanks for practicing selective reading. There's no one blaming Tannehill for the throw. There's only people pointing out to the Wallace-scapegoaters how the ball's location made Wallace's catch incredibly difficult, and that it in fact was not a terrific throw contrary to argument. Look at the video I just provided. The fact is- if the ball is thrown further to the left it's probably a TD. That doesn't mean Tannehill should be expected to make the throw, but that also doesn't mean we can't point out how the throw's location made the conversion terribly difficult.

People can't have their cake and eat it too around here. If they wanna scapegoat Wallace's difficult drop then they also need to criticize Tannehill's throw. Be consistent. But the truth is it's dumb to blame either one on the play.

I swear you would think that Tannehill stole these guy's girlfriends and raped their dogs with all the blind hatred. I really don't get it. All he has done is be the best QB Miami has had PD.

So all I can do to justify it is just figure they are stupid. And that makes me feel better.

No, it was Wallace who said he thought it came off his hand right [which it slightly did], which by translation means he was expecting it to come out further to the left to obviously lead him better and provide an easier catch attempt. Nice try, troll.

yup... good eye. Wallace was still a foot or so short of the goal line, meaning game over, meaning all the Wallace scapegoaters are whining that Tannehill didn't get his yardage stats padded by an extra 60.

If I`m included in that then I have a response. No way ,no how did I ever say I disliked Tannehill, ever!!! I was discussing that ONE throw and that ONE throw only. I truly believe Tannehill is our answer at QB with a little more experience under his belt and more talent around him. Where does the term "stupid" figure into that.?

ok I am done arguing stupidity. It is ludicrous to think Tannehill doesnt share the blame in the loss, but it is equally ludicrous to think its all on him either. No matter how many points are made top explain why it isnt all Tannehill it blown off like by saying it isnt true is objectively refuting it. then we all get called nut huggers cause we actually understood the point.

And yet NOT ONE mention of the weekly defensive collapse in the clutch. THAT is totally ignored. But Iam the troll, that is almost so comical to almost be a compliment

Little misunderstanding here. Wallace said the ball came out of Tannehills hands TO THE RIGHT, meaning location wise. He wasnt stating the ball came out right as oppsed to wrong. Re-read his quote.

ONOZ, Miami's defense for all intents and purposes allowed 13 points to a high scoring offense and essentially scored 3 of their own, however, Tannehill & Co's 13 point effort kept giving Carolina CHANCE AFTER CHANCE AFTER CHANCE to get back in the game.... but apparently it's all the defense's fault for not holding for the 11th of 12 goddam times. GTFO here.

Hmm, could be lack of depth? especially at DT.

Think the offensive line is just poor, it's been playing better but w/no running game we generate a lot of 3 and outs.

You make valid points and all points are legitimate. It's just not the QB, it's the whole team really. I don't blame personnel as that is hindsight and the team plays with what is on the field any given Sunday. They didn't play their best football the whole 4 quarters and not for some time. The defense did not finish the job in the end but the offense gave the Panthers 4 attempts in the second half to take the lead. Those attempts went for practically 3 and outs except the last drive. The offense didn't score but the LEAST they could have done is hold the ball and deny the Panthers 4 goes at it.

Nice straw argument there smarty pants. Exactly who is this directed toward b/c you're making up something that doesn't exist since no one has said the loss is all on Tannehill.

Since you lack perspective, let's give you some shall we. Miami's defense holding Carolina to 13 points and 224 yards through 56 minutes [7 points if we're being realistic] is tantamount to Miami's offense scoring about 34+ points and putting up 550 yards through 56 minutes. Notice the massive difference between that and what the offense actually produces? If the offense comes remotely close to doing its job to the level the defense has done, then there would be no subjecting the defense to fourth quarter comeback attempts b/c the offense would already have the games put away. Now, I know your brain might explode from such insight so just calmly lay down and wait for it to subside. You'll be ok.

Oh I agree. I'm on record as saying he's an average QB. But unlike many on our offense, he's actually an NFL caliber starter.

I hate that he throws a pick per game and makes other hair-brained decisions at times. But I also see the bigger picture. This team is not built to win this year or likely even next year ( although a wild card would be nice). Once we establish that we have an NFL caliber starting
QB, we need to establish if he will be an upper echelon QB when he's 27, 28 and 29.

A refresher of what some people are responding to in this thread. These posts were early on, and gave indication that some people believe Tannehill threw a bad ball on that pass to Wallace. People seem to forget that Tanny got folded on that play. Could the pass have been better? Sure, if he didn't get smashed. Should Wallace have made the catch? Yes, I he should have.

So what? 60 minutes is 60 minutes and 7 points are 7 points. Touchdowns don't count more at 57 minutes than they do at 2 minutes. Denver scored the first 24 points last night but they still lost b/c New England scored more across the entire 60 minutes. The fact is our defense played well enough overall against a strong offense to win. If someone told you Saturday that Miami's D would hold Carolina's offense to 13 points [excluding the prevent FG and easy short field FG courtesy of Ginn's return], would you be criticizing it?

You wanna blame the defense b/c of its last possession, well I ask- how many second half chances does our offense need in order to put a game away when the defense has allowed them to do so? For crap sake the defense even spots the offense points this year with pick 6's and such, gets them turnovers deep in opponent territory, and has generally provided significantly more short field opportunities.... of which the offense continuously squanders. It's clear as day that Miami's defense did a better job against Carolina's offense than Mami's offense did against Carolina's D.
