I get offended when idiots come up with "start Moore", it's a stupid comment and really that's Finheaven material. I expect better here.

I have my doubts but I truly hope he becomes the guy because I want to win and thats the most important thing to me.The problem with this site is people will not take the homer glasses off and see it for whats it is.I am done will all the fighting on this subject because I already went through it with chad henne. Some of these people on this site now that bash chad henne because he is no longer on the team were his biggest supporters when he was here.
These are facts as of right now.He is now ranked 33rd in the league with qb rating 61.7 in the 4th quarter. His completion is 48% in the fourth quarter.Winners play thier best in crunch time thats what seperates the great ones from the average ones.I wont get into the long ball but these were his issues coming out of college.I know he needs a better line and proballly a better OC but I can't tell you he is our QB of the future based on these facts.Maybe he will turn it around the rest of the way and get us into the playoffs so I guess we should let it play out and see what happens.

the problem is ppl that think winning games relies solely on the QB.

ppl have been brainwashed by ESPN and other shows to think that the head to head of QB vs QB is the be all end all of the game.

there are 21 other players on the field(more including special teams) and everyone one of them have a job to do if you want to have a winning team.
when some of those other pieces fail the QB is still the one getting the blame.

the point is, that if you watch Tannehill, AND you watch every other QB in the league you will see that Tannehill does alot of things better than alot of other QB's and he also makes the SAME mistakes that other QB"s do including the best ones.

Too many fin fans ONLY focus on the bad plays. they over analyze the bad plays and gloss over the good ones. but if they look at everything objectively they will see that even the best(veteran) QB's make some boneheaded plays during games.
Guys on here don't know how to keep things in perspective and go off saying ignorant stuff and it really takes away from the reason I actually come here.
of course its easier to just NOT come here, but there are some very knowledgable ppl here that I enjoy reading, I just wish I didn't have to sift through the more than typical overreactionary idiotic "fans"

I know what your saying but you can't argue he is playing poorly in the 4th quarter.Nobody knows for sure if he will be a franchise qb or not but the bottom line right now he is not. These areas I have already covered need to be improved upon or he will be just another QB instead of the guy!!

Well ESPN has recognized that their base audience likes things explained in the most simplistic way possible hence the QB vs QB and nothing else comparison. Not sure if you watched the Colts game but the way the commentators were fawning over Luck you would think they were blowing out the Cards. It was actually quite an assault on our intelligence.

I think what you are seeing on this board is the overwhelming frustration with the season but I think some of us struggle to see the forest from the trees. Yes we spent a lot of money but the fruits of this investment wasn't likely to come till the second season. Often times it takes free agents a season to acclimatize to their new environment. I think the criticism of our QB is non-sensical because he's the best player we have on offense and is ultimately developing quite nicely. We must remember that this season is about his continued development because as long as Brady is in our division and Manning is in our conference, we're going to struggle to win anything big. The key is to find out if Tannehill is one of the "next" QBs to dominate the conference. I think the early signs are encouraging.

Having said this, I am advocating moving on from Ireland but not for the conventional reasons. I think he has a disjointed relationship with the coaching staff that is not conducive to winning longterm. As well, he has an alarming habit of springing one major leak per season in terms of personnel. Last year, pass catchers. This year, offensive line. With this in mind, I would not allow the next personnel head to simply gut the roster and coaching staff. He would have to work with and augment both.

Don't know where you got your stats info pd, but ESPN has RT in the 4th Q as 64 comp, 113 att (56.6% comp), 5.98 YPA, 2 TDs, 5 INTs, 19 sacks (43% of total sacks), and a QBR of 61.7... 13 out of the 19 4th Q sacks have been on their 6 losses. That is twice as many sacks in losses than in wins... in the 4th Q... Not to mention many those sacks in the 4th have attributed to turn overs (fumbles) which has of course attributed to having RT not come through in the clutch, as we say...

You know he has been sacked mostly in the 2nd half of games... How much??? a whopping 73% of total sacks allowed (32 out of 44)... That looks more like 30% of total sacks in the 3rd Q, and 43% in the 4th Q...

Maybe the play of the OL in the 3rd Q and specially in the 4th Q has more to do with the losses than his ability to play in crunch time... wonder if he had the same problem with the OL in college, since I really never watched...

but what do I know... I just pick out stats and present them...

Tann has been great, tann has been bad... The o line has played well, the o line has played bad, the wr's have made some great plays, the wr's have dropped some passes.. A great 60 mil dollar wr makes that heave against the panthers for an unbelievable finish.. Defense has shut teams down, defense has gave up some big plays... Joe has put together some great game plans, joe has failed to get this team ready.. We are 5-6, once the breaks start falling our way and we can get some momentum the wins will come.. Finishing games isn't something that comes naturally it has to be learned.. I'm not super critical of this team right now, I cry a lot but I'm actually looking forward to watching them play Sunday, as opposed to saying damn the jets game is Sunday, "dear lord please let us win jes this one game I'd be happy"... Now I'm like " dear lord, stay outa our way"...

That's the part that gets me. There's people here saying "he's just not the guy", "Anyone can see it", "I just know it". Opinion isn't fact. That opinion may very well become fact, but so is the opinion that he's going to be the best QB ever with a decent OL.

For me, I think there's plenty of potential in Tannehill that we aren't going to realize this season, not with this staff, this OL, and a lack of a running game as a result. There's plenty of facts being brought to the table of why he's not 100% to blame here, but nothing substantial to prove that he is 100% of the blame here as some would claim. People need to show some proof as to why they think he's awful and its all his fault, or proof as to why its not necessarily him holding us back at this point (we've seen plenty of that around here already). Then maybe people will take that claim serious.

Instead, we have people claiming he sucks, others holding out hope, and others seeing that there's plenty of other reasons why its not all on him, and we end up with the large majority who have formed an opinion one way or another just because, and they want to kick and scream if others dont see it their way, even though they possibly have no clue why they believe in their opinion.

If people want to believe he sucks, thats fine... but when there's proof out there that its not necessarily all on him, then you better have a reason why you think that. To absolve him of all blame though as well is just as ridiculous too IMO.

The part I still dont get, is why some people get so pissy because someone doesn't agree with their opinion, and they take it so seriously like its their own kid we're debating here...

    This Xs a 1,000!!!

I criticize Tannehill every week. I also rock his jersey every week. I think I criticize him so much because I expect the most out of him. And right now there is so many people that see him doing NOTHING wrong, so people go double because of that.

Ryan Tannehill is 25 in the NFL in Yards Per Attempt, and that includes 9 guys ahead of him with a lower completion %, which deflates that stat.

He's 8th in the NFL in interceptions, and 8th in not a good way. Of the 8, two of them have 20+ touch down passes.

He's 25th in the NFL in QBR.

I mean good god, most of us non idiot Tannehill criticizers understand he's not getting much help from his OL and running game, but if you can't criticize a QB with those numbers, people have no damn standards anymore. We get it. 2nd year QB, that didn't start at QB his first couple years in college. And I am more then willing to give him next year to show more, but that doesn't mean he's beyond criticism.

but here's my point with Tannehill criticizers, they cherry pick stats to make it look like he's terrible

why not show all his stats??

why can't you be more objective at analyzing him instead of just picking up the low end stats?

For instance, he's 12th in the league in total yards, behind guys with far worse records and passing %
he's 14th in the league in TD's tied with guys like Luck, and has more td's than ELI, Flacco, Kapernick, RG3, etc
I can keep going, but I find it very disingenuine when I see ppl cherry pick stats like that

for all intents and purposes, he's pretty much in the middle of the pack right now in the league, when you factor in everything
    all stats, team record, etc

Not really that bad if you look at it OBJECTIVELY. I mean if you "fans" watch the games you know that a drop here or there, or a poor route run by the receiver or even a crazy tip drill INT can make stats seem worse than possible. not to mention hail mary INT's.

Tannehill being middle of the road in the NFL right now, with this offensive line and poor running game. Poor play calling by sherman all season long is pretty spectacular if you think that this guy is only in his second year with not alot of true college experience at QB.

I cherry pick stats because I don't want to write a 10 page article.

Yea he's 12th in total yards. But he's probably top 5 in attempts.

If Lebrons scores 40 but takes 35 shots, that's not as impressive as scoring 35 taking 23 shots.

He's 14th in TDs, which is very AVERAGE by the way, and how many total turnovers does he have in comparison to his peers?

So in conclusion of your post, you did exactly what I said happened here. Then you say I cherry pick stays, yet you go out and cherry pick a couple stats. The stats I mentioned were far more important then the likes of "total yards".

By the way, what you just did at the end of your post is a joke. Are you going to take away hell Mary INTs? Ok, so go what every game this year and take EVERYONES hell Mary picks out. Your going to take tip ball picks out? Even though it was a poor throw? Lol. Go watch every game this year and do it for every QB. Funny how blind fans go through the lengths to show how unlucky those tipped INTs were, but you fail to mention the dropped picks. He's had a few of those this year too, including one against the panthers.

So if your such a smart fan who watches the game when clearly us Tannehill criticizers don't, go watch every game that has been played this year. Chart every throw, from every QB. Chart every INT that wasn't the QBs fault. Chart every dropped interception by the defense that should of been. Chart every fumble by the QBs and whether it was their fault or not.

    I'll await your findings....

Ok I am sucked back in. Take stats out for a sec, how many second year qbs are asked to do whatever we ask of Tannehill? Look at RGIII, look at the criticism he is taking and his cast is better and better Oline. Tough to put that much on. 2nd yr qb that came to the league w 1/2 the starts in college and has maintained his poise, his confidence thru it all. He is a leader. I hear well what is Wallace supposed to say? Turn it aRound, what should RT say? Well wlllace can't seem to locate the ball in the so its hard to be accurate?

I can tell you I have heard from cleveland and Minn fans that DG they will take RT anytimes we are stupid enough to let him go

See that's the thing. Most reasonable, non trolls, will admit things like he needs more help. And aren't ready to give up on him. But that doesn't make him beyond criticism.

you posting "he's PROBABLY top 5 in attempts" just proves my point.
you don't even care enough to look up what you write you just want to criticize for the sake of it.

I see your agenda, just like many others and I stopped reading your post at that moment. feel free to continue having a bias in your criticism and continue being looked at as someone who can't be taken seriously.
enjoy your opinion, feel free. but I prefer to be more objective with my criticism

and for the record, I am NOT saying RT should be free from any criticism. all I'm saying is that when you criticize do it constructively and objectively. criticize his bads but compliment the goods.
most of the crap I see on hear his ppl crying and complaining about all the bad things and not looking at any of the good things. and on top of that not keeping the bads in perspective with how the rest of the NFl qbs are doing ESPECIALLY the "young" guys.

at the beginning of the season most fans on here would have easily taken Kap, RG3, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Cam Newton, Eli Manning, etc etc
over Tannehill but if they were to watch ANY of those guys this seasons they would be suicidal right now.

Tannehill has outplayed over half the qb's in the NFl. so for him to be average right now in his second year is something I will certainly take

because to be average it means you are doing something right. and it also means you are doing somethings wrong but for a second year player, you have to accept that.

I'm not sure what alot of you guys were expecting out of a second year player, but in my eyes RT is surpassing what I was expecting.

maybe i just had REALISTIC expectations.

I know, I looked it up.
but for someone to just say well, "he PROBABLY has that many passing yards because he PROBABLY throws it more than others" is just showing that its not really about the facts or the truths its more about personal opinions and frankly its pretty sad.

but yet no one will think objectively WHY his YPA is lower than others. surely they know our line is one of the worst ever, so he has to get rid of the ball faster right?
surely they've watched the games and saw that none of our receivers can break a tackle or get any YAC, minus a few plays.

I'm just saying, its nice to criticize, but its also nice to analyze why things are the way they are first.
ppl are way to emotional on this site and just like take act out before even putting any thought in to it.

There are many folks in NFL coaching circles that say if your 2nd year Qb can sustain the same level of play as they did their rookie year they have improved, the philosophy is based on 2nd year qbs have to face defensive coordinators that have 1 year of film to gameplan around the players tendencies..

Now if you want to add to that that Tannehill did this amidst a below average oline, below average running back unit, and pretty much the same weapons as he had his rookie season, then I think one should be very happy thinking of it in this context.

So true man. You watch other quarterbacks and most outside of the top 5-6 do not have the accuracy of Tannehill throwing the ball. We have alot of drops and miscues this year, but when RT17 drops back, i feel like a completion is imminent. Previous fins QB, when they dropped back, it was like watching a train wreck about to happen.

RT or RG3? Tannehill all day
RT or Luck? even right now i'd say
RT or Kap? RT all day every day
RT or Wilson? undecided here - frankly i have not watched enough of Wilson
RT or Dalton? RT, since Dalton has way more experience and AJ green

Here's the thing if the criticism isn't about you don't think he has it or won't be the future then what are you saying?

Do you expect perfection? Do you expect Marino?

You won't get either, your expectations are not reasonable.

The point was he's accomplishing more than what NFL people feel is an improvement in a qbs 2nd year, with a little bit extra considering the variables that accompanied him.
