I'd never even heard of him when we signed him, and he made 2 of the biggest plays of the game on that last drive. What huge balls. Not just him, everyone on this team.
Considering buy a Michael Thomas jersey. Even if he never does another thing for us, he is an honorary Phin for life.
My 6yr old Son called Thomas after my Grandad called Thomas...favourite Dolphin called Zach...something....written in the stars. Gotta love that name Thomas. Don't know you #31 but called Thomas i had ya back. Well done!
I was going to start a "Jeff Ireland won this game" thread. But this'll work. Thomas made two huge plays to prevent TDs. Plucking him off the SF practice squad won this game. Credit where credit's due. Good job Jeff.
Such a small sample size but he earned a full paycheck keeping Brady from being Brady in my eyes just a awsome last minute pickup.
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero Michael Thomas admitted he broke down sobbing after making the game saving INT.
Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly Bryant McKinnie said the offensive linemen saw Michael Thomas making plays on that game sealing D stand and asked "Who is No. 31?"
Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly "Coach Philbin and the defensive guys keep reminding me, 'you're no hero.'" Michael Thomas said.
Me neither that I can remember. Oregon played Stanford every year, but don't recall Thomas name called on defense for doing anything. He was just another player in college. High school QB who converted to DB at Stanford. Late bloomer I guess. He was rated the 35th best free safety in the 2012 draft.
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero Acorn Michael Thomas said he had not played CB since freshman year in college. Played nickel today.
Sadly theres another turn to this, and not taking anything away from Thomas.....but he was active and joined the team Tuesday.....Irelands 2nd round pick Jamar Taylor was a healthy scratch....again....
Reminds me of the episode on the first year of The Office where Mr. Brown asks what a hero is, and Dwight gives the definition of a superhero. I think Coach Philbin and the defensive guys are thinking of "superhero", here. Michael Thomas is my hero!
It is also amazing that he didn't take any snaps on defense during the week's practices. He only practiced on special teams. He had literally never lined up as part of that defense until halfway through the 4th qtr yesterday.
And...the play where he broke up the pass to Amendola in the EndZone.... Dude was left on an island....Jones had nodded over to him and said..."You got no help"
The only explanation to his stellar play is divine intervention. The football gods decided to grant us justice/vengeance against our hated rival. The jawbone of an *** wasn't available so Thomas was the instrument used.
Both plays looked like TDs to me. He came up huge for us. You can almost say that he single handedly defended the win. Im sure Brady got word that we had a new guy on the field and to make him the focal point of their attack. Brady tested the new guy and lost, twice.
The chicken population of Hialeah and Little Haiti declined significantly during those last 75 seconds. Seriously, though. The kid has great instincts.
Heard an interview today on the Joe Rose show where the espn reporter called it a red shirt season for Jamar Taylor. Not all that much of a stretch to call it a red shirt draft for the phins. I have said before that I liked the draft but we sure could have used an average contribution across the board this year. Think he said he had a hamstring issue fwiw.
I'm definitely going to get a 31 jersey customized with "THOMAS" on the back. He earned it in my opinion, I don't care if he never plays another snap (well, I care, I hope he does and continues to be a ballhawk...just sayin'), this win was huge and needed and feels SO DAMN GOOD!
Ireland 's batting average with defensive backs is pretty stellar. He hasn't drafted a single one who isn't either on the current roster, or starting elsewhere in the league. He's also made good in season pickups like Thomas, and Patterson. If he could apply half that skill to linebacker, or offensive line, he'd actually be a very good GM. *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ IF THIS ISN'T MAKING SENSE IT DOESN'T MAKE IT LIES
