could be the story of the week... snow... we've played in it, has this Buffalo team this year? I don't believe so. I think the snow might actually help us.. especially with running the ball. But it might also help the Bills too. Snow typically helps the offense. We know how to take advantage of it thanks to the Steelers game. Not sure the Bills and their young qb know yet.
http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/5338/dareus-williams-may-miss-practice looks like Dareus will be limited this week, but likely play on Sunday. Not exactly good news for us. He's a killer.
man, looking at Spiller's stats this year, he's had some very big games in Buffalo... but he's an average back on the road. They have a nice one two punch with him and Jackson. If Soliai can't go, that would be bad.
I feel so bad for Stevie Johnson. I saw a picture of him yesterday sitting on the bench staring blankly into the distance. On his eye black he had the words "Hi Mom" written. Broke my heart.
This game is going to be tough for a lot of reasons but the biggest challenge to me will be not coming out flat after the emotion of the Patriot game...Philbin Tanny and any of the teams other leaders have their work cut out for them this week.
Don't like it at all. Not one bit. Doesn't matter how good or bad either team is or was. I get the willies when Miami has to go to Buffalo in the cold and snow. With that said, Tannehill and Co. showed they can play in foul weather. Already getting an ulcer and it's Tuesday.
Screw that to be blunt , this is for the playoffs and to think with 2 key games left coming out flat is an option , not on your life. If we do , then hey we don't deserve squat , we may lose but if we do it better not because we were effing flat.
TBH folks..this game has my attention, bad matchups, Jills have guys who make plays happen, this one...got a bad feeling about
Wasn't that the general feeling the first time we played and lost to them? AFC east teams play hard against each other. Not taking the next two for granted. Gotta win both.
Gotta be careful either way....coming out "tight" will be just as bad as flat..Buffalo has a huge advantage because they will be playing loose in every sense. Their Coach won't care so fake FGs onsides kicks going for it on 4th all the bull**** no one pulls when the game matters will be on the table..the spoiler role is fun AND easy...so call it what you want but it's going to take some pretty good coaching and leadership to overcome all the advantages buffalo will have.
lol. That guy is very very talented and has never had a QB. It is pretty sad. He'd be a stud on almost any other team.
I would be more concerned if we didn't see this Dolphins team beat the Steelers in the snow. When has EJ Manuel ever played in the snow? The game will be blacked out in Buffalo so clearly the Buffalo fanbase has mailed it in already.
If it's like every other Dolphins game except for the Jets, Saints, and Browns games, it's going to be a gut-wrenching, nail-biting, heart-churning affair that gets decided late in the fourth quarter. Especially with a weather game, why expect any different here?
I expect a game much like the first Jet game. Rookie QB in adverse weather conditions to throwing, against a strong secondary. Assuming we are healthy. I'd dedicate most of the week to planning for Spiller, he is their only hope IMO.
That'd be nice, and I guess it sort of depends on the weather. The weather in the first half of the Steeler game, well, that made for miserable offense. the snow and wind was coming down, and if you remember the first drive, Pittsburgh gashed our run defense. Buffalo's strength is the run, and both Spiller and Jackson are capable backs. Our run defense has been pretty spotty this season. And then it also depends on our health, not only before the game but also during it. It wasn't really until the second half or later in the second quarter when the conditions changed and the offenses opened up. Now, when the snow stopped and the wind died down in the second half of the Steeler game, those conditions favor the offense because it's harder for defenses to keep their footing against receivers who know where they're going. Also, the footing is hard on the pass rushers. If it's like that, well, advantage us. Really, I kind of think it's wishful thinking, though, to say that it'll be like the first Jets game. Most of the time, EJ Manuel is probably going to hand the ball off or keep it on a pistol read kind of play. If we can get them into enough third and longs, then I agree that they'll have trouble. If they have a bunch of third and shorts, they'll be able to have the option to both run and pass on third downs. They'll convert a few of those. And our defense has shown a propensity to give away rushing yards. And then, let's not forget Buffalo's defense. They're pretty good, too, and they did a good job against us in Miami. We're better now, but I still have the memory of Mario Williams racing right by Tyson Clabo and obliterating Tannehill, who fumbled with the Bills recovering to set up the winning of the game. That match-up hasn't changed, and the Bills D-line, at least by reputation, is better than our O-line. We've got to do a good job, as well, keeping the down and distances at comfortable levels for our offense. Play-calling (Mike Sherman) is key, there. I think we'll win - we're on a good run and confidence is high - but we have some weaknesses where Buffalo has major strengths, and those will play out, too, over the game. I expect it to be close.
the game is not sold out yet, therefore its blacked out http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/5369/report-bills-dolphins-game-blacked-out
Bills have the most sacks in the league... Dolphins have given up the most sacks in the league. Not an easy game by any stretch of the imagination. Snow will actually help us though.
we need to get as many Dolfans in the stadium as possible somehow.. thinking of running a promotion here to accomplish that... hmmm..
Offense has to be crisp and focused, not having that "we should win this, let's play to not lose" mentality...
Well....I just watched the Bills-Jags game on Replay. Some random thoughts on the Bills.-they def have not mailed it in. They played hard down in Jacksonville and came out with the win. With that being said, the Jags stink.-if we stop the run and do not commit turnovers, we will win this game.-If we can go up by at least 10 in the first half, it will put a lot of pressure on Manuel and change their offense to pass first. That's not their game. If we can put a good amount of pressure on Manuel, eventually he will make a mistake.-the Bills are a run first team and do a lot of playaction passes. Chandler the TE is a big part of the offense. We need tight coverage here. I hadn't realized that Jenkins pretty much split snaps with Wheeler in the 2nd half. I say we play Jenkins a lot more this game and plaster him to the tight end and backs out of the backfield. Either that or Jordan. I simply don't trust Wheeler at this point.-Their dline is going to give us fits. But if Tannehill gets a little bit of time, he will roast the Bills secondary. They don't look good at all. Its a mismatch between our wrs and their secondary, IMO.-As good as their dline is, it was susceptible against the Jags. Unfortunately, I don't see our coaching staff continuing to stick with the run game long enough to continue to pound it. -The reason why the Dolphins lost the first game had a great deal to do with Tannehill not taking care of the football. If he protects the ball, I think we win this one.Edit: Robert Woods is Manuel's favorite target.they have good chemistry. I hope our secondary is healthy and ready to go.
Damn strait...the coach after the panther game said, it's now time to perform at a high level.. Here's the thing, their winning games while their improving.
I'm not really worried. I think Manuel is much better. Lewis didn't beat us the first time. The pick 6 and fumble cost us the game.
"GO!" = PASS "GO! GO!" = RUN pretty obvious to the Defense huh? anyone else notice that by Tannehill?
The Bills this week and the Jets next week would like nothing better than to beat the Dolphins and knock them out of a spot in the playoffs. While the win last Sunday against the Patriots was great, along with wins over the Colts, Bengals, Steelers and Chargers earlier in the season. These wins really won't mean much if the Dolphins go up to Buffalo and lose for the second time this season to the woeful Bills. The Dolphins have a better team and a better QB than the Bills and the Jets. Now they just have to go out and show they are the better team by beating both these teams in the next two weeks. The actual playoffs may not begin for another three weeks, but for the Dolphins, the next two games are MUST wins if they want to be part of the playoffs this season.
This is what concerns me, their strengths matchup with our weaknesses. Even poor Qb play is mitigated by having guys who can house it on short passes and on screens
It's up to the coaches to plan ways to mitigate their pass rush knowing that our offensive line isn't going to win their individual matchups consistently. We don't have a guy like Spiller to run screens with but we should still be trying them to slow down that rush a bit. Hopefully they'll move Tannehill around some and continue calling a few read options.
That is what concerns me, they have weapons like Spiller and Jackson who can house a screen pass in the face of one our blitzes. Where we simply do not know which Sherman will show up, will they move tannehill around, try to establish the run etc?
Yes they have some talent on the offense and defense. Yet they have won only five games this year and are one of the worst teams in the NFL. They will also once again be playing with a backup QB. There is absolutely zero excuses which will be valid if the Dolphins lose to the Bills this Sunday. In fact if the Dolphins lose twice to this team this year, they don't deserve to be a playoff team. A loss this week would mean that the victory over the Patriots would be totally wasted. I expect the Dolphins to go into Buffalo and beat the Bills and I will be deeply upset if they don't
