Works for Tanehill too. He's could be a Read-Option guy if he wants to. See the Steelers game.

The fumble sealed it, for sure. But if the pick 6 didn't happen, Miami is likely not in a position where a turnover ruins them in the 4th quarter. They are all related. Turnovers definitely played the biggest role. But when you give an opposing team on the road 7 points gift wrapped that changes the entire mindset of the game for both teams.

A lot of stuff doesn't happen and that game doesn't come down to one score.

The Pick 6 and the next INT put the team in a huge hole but the team came back to take the lead.

The truth about that fumble was that it was sort of a Tony Romo vs the Packers play. I heard, the next day, that it was called as a run but Tanehill audibled because of the look.

Yeah and if Antonio Brown has a smaller foot and Amendola holds onto that ball and Phillip Rivers completes that last play we're talking about a 5-9 team.

Just sayin' you can't lament the games we should have won because there were games we probably should have lost.

If Dan Carpenter didn't completely suck *** the Dolphins would have been 9-7 last year.

If If's and Buts were Candy and Nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas. :-D

Lewis didn't beat us, that was caused by our own blunders in the first 5 minutes of the game.

If we can play a clean game it should be a walk in the park against a Bills team that is not even close to as good as us.

Fair enough. That Bills loss was heartbreaking. Being from up North, it was a game my brother and I came down to attend.

One could argue though that the glaring faults of the team earlier in the year came to a head in that game (mostly with the Offensive Line) and the Dolphins have been much better as a result of that loss. Had they not fumbled, perhaps the team would have meandered on with a dysfunctional line and ended up losing games to teams like the Bengals, Chargers, Steelers and Patriots. Even in the Jets game, the line played well against a great Defensive front.

If we lose twice to lewis and the Bills, then we don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

I think it's the most visible thing but I think if you want to win football games you have to learn not to look at the most visible thing, what you perceive to be the margin, etc. I think you've got to look at every play. If you lost by less than a touchdown and you ran 65 plays during the game then basically you had 65 opportunities to win the game...and all 11 people on the field should be doing their job in order to capitalize on those opportunities so you're talking about 700 plus opportunities to affect the outcome of the game while the other side has their own 700 plus opportunities to prevent you doing that. Then you flip to the other side of the ball and it's the same deal.

This is why I don't like it when people focus on like a missed field goal at the end of a game or a questionable penalty, etc. You're going to end up with 1500+ opportunities to do something to win every single game. Concentrating on just 1 of those 1500 acts is to me pointless.

I agree with this as well. There's a revenge factor in play here. The Buffalo result turned into a real come to Jesus moment between the owner and Philbin/Ireland. There was a meeting. There was yelling. Both Ireland and Philbin came out of the meeting with sour looks. The Dolphins traded for Bryant McKinnie immediately.

And I'm not just implying it's the coaches that feel like there's something about that game. I think that has a tendency to filter down to the players as well.

I remember last year the Dolphins lost to the Jets in heartbreaking fashion in OT at home, then a few weeks later embarrassed the Jets in their house. Hopefully we'll see something similar this Sunday.

Not worried about Buffalo, no matter who is quarterback. This is a focused, different team since the last time we played the Bills.

seriously, we blew so many offensive side chances, and gift wrapped six to their D....I really dont think we repeat that performance. I am not knocking Lewis, but this is revenge game for so many players in Aqua and Orange.

I love this. I think our team is pissed about the first loss to these bums. The defense is pitching a shut out in this one. They want revenge against this bum. Everyone on our team wants this one. I'm worried about the Jets game. We embarassed the Jets, the Bills embarassed us. There is a reason its so hard to sweep teams. We will come out blazing. Manuel and Stevie Johnson both being out just makes it better to tee off on guys. Wake is healthy this time around, Vernon coming into his own. GBo get em.

I think we're conditioned to be skeptical. In 2009 we were 7-6 and finished 7-9. In 2010 we were also 7-6 and finished 7-9. Going back to the Saban years, in 2006 we clawed our way back to 6-7 at one point after a really slow start, and then finished 6-10.

Already Miami is kind of re-writing that history by beating the Patriots.

I normally completely agree with all those sentiments.
Opportunities do not play out the same way because everything is a reaction to a previous occurrence.
There were many previous opportunities before that play to win/lose the game.

But along those same lines with 2.53 left in a game you are leading those previous opportunities do not matter anymore. I believe that an enormous play like that with such little time left is the direct correlation to why we lost the game.

There is tons of analysis to do to why we were in that exact situation, but the game was swung on that single play with little time remaining.

2009 and 2010 were because Henne is the least clutch QB ever.

The 2006 team had Joey Harrington as their QB and Saban mailed it in, the year before they actually rallied to finish 9-7. How about 2008 when the Wildcat team finished the season with a string of wins to finish 11-5 or the 2011 season when they rallied from an 0-7 start to be somewhat respectable considering at 6-10.

Last year the team faltered in the middle of the season in games again the Colts, Titans and Bills and couldn't recover. This year the Dolphins have recovered nicely from a early/mid-season collapse.

And by your own admission the game was swung into that position by previous plays. Which means the game was swung by those previous plays as well.

There are definitely other things they could have done to avoid making that play the most important in the game, but that was the play that lost them that game.

Let's say you lose the game 35 to 3. That's 5 touchdowns the other side scored, versus your field goal.

I could say that 5 measly plays was the difference between a win and a loss.

Wouldn't be any more or less true than saying Miami lost the Bills game because of that sack-fumble.

Saban's second year we were actually the hottest team in football and had just beaten a good Vikings and the Lions on Thanksgiving, the shutout the Pats two weeks later.

We then proceeded to be shutout ourselves by Buffalo and then the legendary Cleo Lemon era began and Saban told us he wasn't going to be the alabama coach.

And Drew Brees went to the NFC Championship game.

    Good times

If Antonio Brown didn't step out of bounds would you say lots of plays lost the Dolphins that game as well? That play might not have happened had Tanehill not thrown a Pick-6? But that game might not have been that close had the Dolphins defense not shut down Rapistberger on the previous 4 series.

But sometimes these games come down to one pivotal play.

I think letting Buffalo get a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter killed us. When you put yourself in that situation early in the game, it's tough to recover.

It hurts to say all this because I know Nick Saban thinks EXACTLY the same way I do about this (to a T) and I hate the man. But he's right. And he's also one of the best coaches of NCAA football of all time, which also hurts to say.
