http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn1SqUYaM68 This guy I like- tough at the LOS, very quick up the field as a pass rusher, shows that burst to me that I want to see, has some mojo to him, brings energy. I could see him at OLB, has some speed and quicks- listed at 6-2, 255 so we'll see what the combine shows as real numbers. Heck of a pass rusher, I was looking for signs of drop back/coverage ability, not bad at 4:07 in clip. This isn't Dion Jordan in space, but who is. I can already see the Steelers drafting him for OLB, he reminds me a bit of Jason Worilds. I really wouldn't mind seeing a LB crew of Jordan and Sam outside, Misi inside. Not sure what Ellerbe and Wheeler are making, but that's a lot of cake for what they're doing. But seriously, we have roster spots devoted to Trusnik, Spitler and Jenkins- I would take this guy any day over any of those three LBs.
Reminds me of Joey Porter in that he's a savvy football player that gets the job done, but not physically impressive. Thing that bothers me about him is I've seen him go up against NFL quality offensive linemen like JaWuan James, and they have ERASED him. Made him look borderline undraftable. When that happens to a physically gifted guy I think sometimes you forgive it. When it happens to a physically not so gifted guy? It hurts.
To me Sam has a true burst, what I wanted to see more of from Ryne Giddens but didn't. My concern would be Sam being a tweener, but I can see him at OLB. Solid athlete imo, from what I've seen so far. Interesting point about him up against primo competition, but he must have been doing it right in general to be SEC Def player of year and unanimous all-amaerican. I want to see more, good games and bad. I think that he got shut out by Texas A&M in 2012 as well. He's tenacious and has a burst, pretty good combo in my book.
