We could still very well make the playoffs. At least we will be in week 17 with a shot. How many times have we been able to say that since marino retired? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Nevermind the softarse team we have that has mailed it in for the Holidays. We are still alive for the playoffs?
This team doesn't belong in the playoffs. Today's performance was right next to the Jaguars playoff game as the worst we've ever had. I always want us to beat the Jest so there is that but honestly after the Martin Soap Opera and this game this offseason can't come fast enough. I've never given up on this team as long as there has been a mathematical chance of us getting in but I don't honestly give a **** at this point and I don't care if that makes me a bad fan.
I agree. I was livid after the game, but this team has a very good shot at the playoffs. Saying that the team's performance today was disappointing is an understatement, but it's only one game. We make the playoffs and this loss becomes an afterthought. We still have our QB of the future, and that to me is enough to be pleased about. We are an offensive line and linebacker unit away from being a very good team. However I still would definitely like Ireland and Turner gone. Probably Sherman too.
This is how I feel. However, the issue is the contracts of Ellerbe and Wheeler. Hopefully, we can agree to a reasonable buyout. Next off season should be about bringing back Grimes and Clemons while extending Odrick/Pouncey/Clay. Bring in competition for the line with small signings but for the most part attack it through the draft.
We did what we needed to do, we are the #6 seed seed dang it! This team is finally doing something! We are #6! We did what we needed to do!
I enjoy watching relevant December football and this obviously can sometimes feel very frustrating. A number of us probably forget that. But I would far prefer losing a game that we were competitive in.
FYI, since the playoff format changed in 2002, a #6 seed has won as many Super Bowls as the #1 seeds, and teams seeded 4th or lower have made 6 SB appearances the past 8 years. I'm not clairvoyantly suggesting that's gonna be our fate, too, but just pointing out how vacant headed you act. Super Bowls aren't won during the regular season, genius.
So it was scripted for us to get blown out in Buffalo? I really don't think that's what we needed to do....
The Fins and Ravens both lose to AFC teams today, and we pass them because the Bolts won. I'm not sure what about that is more deserving than before the game when the Ravens were 6th...
GTFOH with the "we don't deserve to be in the playoffs" BS. The worst argument I've ever heard. How quickly people forget all the impressive wins we've had this year (Colts, Bengals, Chargers, Steelers, Patriots) and the fact we'd have a winning record if we do make the playoffs. I get it, some of you want the GM fired, and that's fair, but whatever happened to actually, you know, wanting your team to actually play January football? The fact that some "fans" would rather us lose next week so someone gets fired rather than winning and making the playoffs is embarrassing. Omar Kelly was tweeting with some of these people earlier. People that are actually hoping for a loss. That is pathetic, and I hope they go find a new team to root for. This team has played ONE damn playoff game in the last 11 years. You would think every single Dolphins fan would be ecstatic having a solid chance to get to the playoffs heading into Week 17. Yet, here we are. Like Aqua said, don't let the door hit you on the *** on your way out.
Think about this for a moment...this is one of the worst offensive lines in NFL history Oh first rd pick Pouncey is such a difference maker... BS
The tiebreaker rules can be pretty complex but what you're talking about is conference record which is pretty straightforward.
Here we go with the holier than thou posters dictating what Dolphin fans should or shouldn't want. Or what constitutes a fan and what doesn't. This is new and exciting. You're not a superfan. Where do you get the ego? You're a message board poster, nothing more. You know some people don't give a **** about the playoffs? Because 1 and done doesn't mean anything. Been there. Done that. 3 out of the last 3 playoff appearances, in fact. All it ever accomplished was to validate the morons in charge of this team, give them more time to waste our time. We got swept and humiliated by buffalo. Lost the 1-8 Bucs, who hate their coach and organization... Lost to playoff contenders like NE (pre Gronk injury), destroyed by New Orleans in prime time, collapsed against Carolina... And you want to talk about beating dregs like SD and Pitt? What? Why? Who cares if those wins don't mean anything. The 2008 Dolphins were better in every phase than the 2013 Dolphins. How'd that work out for us? I'm tired of this team failing to live up to expectations. I'm tired of ****ty GM's wasting draft picks when there's people on this board who hit with greater consistency for free. I'm tired of coaches being out coached. This game against buffalo wasn't an accident, it's part of a greater trend of inconsistency and ineptitude. It's happened all ****ing season. It happened last year too. To be clear, I'm not rooting for Miami to lose against NYJ. I'm not rooting to miss the playoffs. But you bet your *** I'm scared that winning one game and making the playoffs means having to sacrifice another off-season, another draft, and another year because it somehow validates the powers that be... Just so we can wind up here again. I want the Dolphins to be the Patriots of the NFL, always winning, competing, and being relevant for titles. I don't want us to be the Dolphins anymore. Struggling for scraps, looking forward to the draft in november. So yeah, I can sympathize with the "not real fans." I can see things from their perspective. One step back, two steps forward. It's sad, but I understand it. You don't understand it? You don't like it? Maybe you should be the one to go. No one is here to cater to idea of fandom. And I hope the door does hit you on the way out...
And the winner for clueless poster of the year goes to.... Please tell me how any of today's game was on tannehill. No running game, franchise record in sacks allowed, receivers created almost no separation and I counted at least 3 hartline drops, all 3 would of been first downs as well. The whole team played crappy, no one person. The whole coaching staff was out coached. Any game we've won this year was because of tannehill, you expect a qb that was suppose sit for a year or two atleast to carry the team by himself? Tannehill has far exceeded what should of been asked from him this year. Sure he's missed some plays but please find a qb who hasn't because Brady's missed them,Mannings missed them,Montana has as well and even our great Marino has missed them. He's prolly like the 12th best qb in the league already, what more can you ask? Was he suppose to break the TD record his second year or that wouldn't be good enough unless he threw for 7k right?
And what if we get into the playoffs and win a game? You do know we've already beaten every team we'd play in the first round, right? I'm not trying to be holier than thou, I'm being a supporter of my team and HOPING they continue to win games. Besides, you said you aren't rooting against us winning next week, so I'm not even talking about you or others like you. I'm talking about the fans who are actually rooting for a loss next week. That's absolutely pathetic. Call me whatever you'd like but I'm standing by it. We should all be cheering our asses off next Sunday for a chance to get to the dance. We all know anything can happen once you get there. And I'm in favor of firing Ireland too, but right now, the damn playoffs are in reach. That's all that should matter. Worry about the other crap in the offseason.
This is entirely correct. Surely we should be saying he is ahead of the curve when it comes to games played to date. He's been shafted by the worst o-line and no running game. We've won games because of him. We have asked him to stand and throw the ball. The coaching is keeping him static. That will benefit us in years to come but right now it's really frustrating. Let him loosen up out there and he'll be a very god player I'm sure.
Furthermore, people need to stop with the illusion that those who share my viewpoint are content with mediocrity, because it's not true whatsoever. I've been a die-hard Dolphins fan for 20 years now, and I only have one goal and that's to win championships. I don't care who the owner, GM, head coach, QB, equipment manager or water boy is. Just win. Right now, we have a shot to get into the greatest tournament in all of sports. To me, that's the only thing that matters. I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to the Dolphins. Always have been, always will be. Trust me, I'm not satisfied with constant mediocrity. But as long as we're still alive, damn right I'm going to be a believer. It doesn't mean I think everything is perfect and it sure as hell doesn't mean I'm fine with mediocrity. But I'll continue to believe in that magical run. Whether it happens or not, we'll see. That's why we watch this game that we love.
I believe when the season ends for your team, until the next regular season begins, you dispute, contest and state your opinions over the order of play, who's dealer, and all things outside the game itself, but when the regular season begins you simply play the cards your dealt. For the consideration of others intent on enjoying the game, and playing their hand, anyone who incessantly complains about the dealer, frankly should either excuse themselves until the season ends, or find another table with a more suitable dealer. During the season, its about the game
I love how people in this forum can try and spin wanting to make the playoffs into being ok with mediocrity. Good group of guys around here I tell ya.
Making the playoffs is not mediocrity, imo. It means you were one of the top 12 teams in the league. And one and done is not mediocrity either. That's top 8. Unreal how some people are. It's been awhile since we've been in the mix this late in the season. So we got waxed yesterday. The Bears got blasted last night, Saints a few weeks ago by the Rams. It happens, any given Sunday. Regroup, beat the Jets, finish 9-7 and see what happens. Come back in from the ledge is a perfect thread title.
Yeah we are currently in the playoffs. That can change real quick after next week. We have absolutely NOTHING to be happy about. We controlled our own destiny and we went out and played like the game didn't matter, like we were resting our starters. Yeah, the matchups didn't favor us at some positions, but that's no excuse for falling apart. That was a failure of character, nothing else.
