Ryan Tannehill is an average QB not a great one.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've read on here today, that's saying something.

Id expect way better from you.

So this same "common sense" shows you how to incorrectly follow a column that reads TDs? Glad I don't have "common sense" then.

    You're right. But again that's 1...out of??

So while that proves its not always the case, generally speaking it's a pretty solid indicator.

Didn't say it disproved your point. You said name one, so I did. If we're going to make that a true indicator though, then we may as well just cut bait now and draft someone else, no?

What was yours before then? My point is that he's the best QB we have had in a long while (Pennington's short run not withstanding).

Tannehill has improved GREATLY this season from last season

Lets compare Tannehill with another AFC East QB, Lets pick Tom Brady..

    TD: Tied with 24
Int: Tannehill 17 Brady 10, Edge Brady
Yards: Tannehill 3,913 Yards Brady: 4,221 Edge Brady
QB Raiting: Tannehill 81.7 Brady 88 Edge: Brady

Now you maybe saying, um JT, Brady has the edge in almost every category. Yeah I get that, but this is Tannehills 2nd year and his numbers are not really that far off from Brady. Yeah INT are high, but he can work on that.

It took Brady 5 full seasons to get 4,000 Yards, something Tannehill almost got in his 2nd season. Brady this season had a way better oline also. Be patient. Tannehill going to be a star in this league

    From his rookie Year
    +12 TDS
    -4 INT
    +619 yards
    +2.1 %
    +5.6 Rating

Now seriously, how is that not an improvement?

He went from Never beating Brady, to beating him in his own game. He beat Big Ben, Andrew Luck, Andy Dolton, Matt Ryan. Went head to head with Cam Netwon and should have won that game too if Miami made a 4th down stop, and if Wallace made that catch at the end.

to say hes a small upgrade over Henne is an understatment

I didn't read the whole thread after seeing the OP say that Ryan will never be Manning or Marino, as if that's a reason to get rid of him. Two contenders for GOAT QB...

Definitely not GREATLY improving, I mean come on.
He got better, but not enough to push the organization to the next level., just a lil bit better, much like his stats

I saw 12 more TDs is a HUGE improvement. 600 yards is as well, thats two games better. I mean come on, his oline this season was the worst its ever been. What more do you want from him. He had a solid solid year

IF Tannehill can improve his deep ball, and I think thats something that can be improved, he can be elite. He had some serious issues with the deep ball this year, there is no questioning that. I also think this coaching staff needs to have him run more. Its just stupid to have a Qb with his type of athletic ability and never run with him.

Bro, Brady had no one to throw to this year. You put Brady on the phins, and we get second seed in the playoffs.

My point was tossing out that stat is fickle since just about every passing stat means less now than it did 10 years ago. And him being the "best" in a while is only true as long as he keeps ascending. If Matt Moore had thee exact same numbers as RT this year nobody would be calling him a savior.

I think he will continue to improve and be THAT guy, but he MUST improve.

I know you get that last part, but many around here do not.

Dude, its not the olines entire fault. Tanny's pocket awareness needs some serious work. Half the sacks were probably on him.

He also threw the ball over 100 more times this year, you kind of expect the TD and yard numbers to increase when you throw that much more
He did better, for sure, but let's not get carried away. He didn't do that much better, and y the OLine obv didn't help

tannehill has many flaws pocket awareness, deep touch, timing, and he seems to never know when he needs to run and when he wants to run. However he did improve this year even though the last 2 weeks were mega stinkers so they are def locked into him for next year no doubt.

Also you have to realize, Brady atleast has a running game this season. Tannehill had NONE. not even close to having one.

He might be the best we had in a long time but not by a big margin. I think Matt Moore could of gotten us into the playoffs. Tanny is not much better than him.

He went from a TD every 2.5% of his passes to every 4%. It wasn't just an increase because he threw more, it's because he played better too.

i have no doubt tannehills deep ball will be vastly improved. he has plenty of ability to throw it, it is all about timing. you see it now he is overthrowing wallace by a a slight margin(not to mention throwing a beautiful 30+ yard pass that should have been a touchdown but wasnt due to the PI that wasnt called), next year wallace is running under a vast majority of those for touchdowns.

if someone would have told me that in year 2 our converted WR turned QB would be throwing for 24 td's and almost 4,000 yards with 0 running game, a god awful oline i would have have laughed in their face.

i mean today you saw a bunch of play action passes, why would any sane defensive player actually bite on those?(by the looks of things they didnt) are the players scared that daniel thomas and lamar miller with this oline are going to break a massive run? are they actually scared they would break a run longer than 3 or 4 yards?

when was the last time our oline gave enough space for our running backs to break a huge long run? the last time i can think of (my memory sucks so i maybe wrong) was the bengals game, in which miller fumbled the ****ing ball.

didn't help that he had to throw because of the lack of running game. The whole offense this season was on Tannehill, he had no help at all from his oline or running game, granted the oline didn't help the running game either

Wish we schemed our offense to get wide open guys and that we had a playmaker in the backfield like Lesean McCoy (who I screamed for, but we took Pat White).

Foles may be the real deal, but the comparison of the QBs between the two offenses just isn't fair IMO.

I do think Wallace-Tannehill will improve next season. Wouldn't give up on him yet. I think a lot of people are overreacting, glad these people are not involved with the organization at all!

Yeah, I cant believe we took Pat White. We put him in for one play, gets his bell rung and plays no more in the NFL. So many wasted 2nd round picks by this team.

And I thought thats why we brought in Philbin? He was going to implement the Green Bay style offense.

At this stage of his career, Tannehill is certainly nothing but an average QB in the NFL. Perhaps he will develop into a better QB next year, but when the team needed him the most the past two weeks, he failed to deliver.

Other young QB's in the NFL are better than Tannehill right now, but I'm willing to see how he plays in 2014 before I decide if he is the future for the Dolphins or not. Right now though, I believe Tannehill still remains a HUGE question mark going forward.

Wasn't Jon Kitna the real deal like 5 seasons ago...then the next season he wasn't? Wasn't Matt Flynn the real deal after one game...then he wasn't? Could name tons of these guys. Foles has certainly been impressive, we'll see if it translates into multiple seasons. This forum used to be filled with good, thoughtful posters, and this garbage that inundated the forum now was all over at FH. I wish it would go back there.

Wow? I can't tell if your f'n with me or just that stupid? Either way playing on the oline isn't just about run blocking. Or even pass protection for that matter. They help diagnose a D and help set a tone for the O among other things. Seattle's line isn't good at protecting the QB. That's not my opinion. It's a fact. Wilson has been pressured more than any other QB in the league over the last two years. He's running for his life a lot of the time.

I'm not too confident that Tanny's deep ball will improve. It seems like a skill you have or don't. Although it would certainly help to have a better oline providing adequate time for a drop back and follow through.

He hasn't completed that pass accurately once all season...and we threw it in 12 of our 16 games. In 7 games, we threw it twice or more. Tannehill doesn't have the touch, plain and simple, and its the sole reason we're not playing for something next week.

I'm fine with Tannehill's play so far. I'm really impressed that he didnt get happy feet after all the hits he took behind our oline. He's one tough SOB. What will make or break him is his deep accuracy. If he finds it he'll become a good QB. without it he'll remain average. This is his project for next year's improvement
