How about bringing in the Pats or Saints OC

I feel that if they hire a GM and keep Philbin, that is dictating to the GM who to work with philosophically and by extension what type of players to draft/FA. Then the GM will get rid of the coach after a year of butting heads.... It's a vicious cycle. Perhaps they decide to hire another football czar recommending the firing of GM and OC, and with the authority of cleaning house. That keeps Ross' hands clean from delivering the axe to Philbin and coaches he likes.

Looks like Sherman and Ireland are going to get the axe.

I would find it difficult to believe an OC would transfer to another team (better teams) in the same capacity. Miami is in the position to either:

    A) Fire Sherman and bring in a possible young guy in a bad situation with upside
    B) Fire Sherman and bring in a former HC that has recently been fired or a college HC trying to get his feet wet -or-
    C) Retain Sherman and rid of some underlings

I would choose B. I think Kubiak is an obvious choice, but that is just me. Maybe there are some young guys out there who have good potential, but there is a risk, as with everything. Kubiak has coached dynamic offenses in the past, and has coached some good teams.

If he wants work, he will. The social dynamic will just have to work itself out. I could see him becoming OC somewhere else, but I think he would be a solid fit here. That is just me, though. I am sure some folks here know some young bucs out there, but I do not. At least Kubiak has a line of work that shows he can coach in the NFL at a high level.

I like the big names like Kubiak and I would especially love it if Mike Shanahan took on the role of offensive coordinator..Or maybe his son? That would be pretty cool with. Kubiak has a good track record as does Shanahan...I doubt Mike would be up for the job but his son would be great option in my opinion. Shanahan(s) have always been able to run the ball, and they have always had potent offenses. What happened in Washington was a disaster this year but they were still able to get a lot of out Alfred Morris and Pierre Garcon on offense. If we had the production of an Alfred Morris and Pierre Garcon we would be looking at a bye week in my opinion.

How about an experienced QB coach to help Tannehill with pocket awareness and deep throws. That's not a knock on Ryan we just need better coaching for the young QB.
Sherman gone of course. The play calling was pitiful.

    Great news! lol

The only thing that will make Wild Card weekend bearable for me is action by Ross. I love the playoffs, who doesn't but damn, knocked out by the Jets? Could of been in the week before by beating the Bills?

I don't want any offensive coordinators from teams with elite quarterbacks. I want someone who takes average talent and makes it perform at an above average level.

Ireland has to go. If we get the right GM running the show it will all fall in to place. It might mean that Philbin is gone or has one year to prove himself to a new GM but if Ireland stays its over and we are going to be a bottom feeder for another few years.

Good point.... Though Josh Mcdaniels did have Kyle Orton in Denver leading a top passing attack with Brandon Lloyd lighting it up. Chudzinski comes to mind, Caldwell, baby Gruden,Wisenhunt.....Does Carmichael call the plays ? He's another Philbin.

It wouldn't be my first choice but I would actually be fine with Mike as HC. I think he was in over his head as a 38-year-old at Bama but has acquitted himself nicely by starting back at the bottom as a position coach and now running a great offensive attack in Carolina, where he is really the "Head Coach of the Offense" as Rivera is a defensive mind. If nothing else Shula would at least make a weapon out of Tannehill's athleticism.

Ireland has to go. If that's all we do its acceptable to me even though I would prefer the entire coaching staff go too. But getting rid of Ireland is only half the battle. Who we hire to replace him is just as important. We better not hire from within. There are several good candidates and we had better pursue them

Sherman isn't going to get fired without Philbin, they're a package deal. Philbin's recent support for Sherman over Tannehill's comments is all I need to know. Ross knows if he's firing Sherman he has to fire Philbin too.

I think he might make a better HC considering his lack of coaching experience. IMO it's easier to be a first time HC than a first time OC. Delegate then motivate.

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest Nat Moore as o.c. in that picture Nat looks as angry as mr Ross does. I am starting t believe with all the losses that maybe Mr Ross is going to fire Philbin as well as Ireland and Sherman. but is it really a 5 % chance that Philbin gets fired or is the chances greater then that.

Im thinking maybe Sherman and Ireland get axed, but their replacements won't be any better.

I'd give Philbin one more year and see how it goes.

We also need to get some playmakers on the team too.

I'd want him to begin his coaching career as a QB coach. Didn't Tannehill consult him about leadership last summer?

If Ross had balls Philbin and Ireland ( at least) would have been canned Sunday night. Then replacement possibilities wouldn't be in the mindset of taking someone`s job. The longer he waits the worse it is .
