I really wish this dude had been successful in purchasing the NY Jets.

 

While I think Ross is wrong, I thought he stood up to the questions ok. He actually was more composed than Hickey, who was almost hyperventilating.

 

When Ross first bought the team, and the only news regarding the team we heard about was celebrities and this and that. I knew we were heading for trouble.

 

I think you have two guys in Ross and Hickey, followed by Philbin who doesn't exactly like it but has some dry humor, who really don't like talking to the media. They don't like speaking to groups at all. I think they are serious, and want to work on details. That said, I didn't come out of this press conference very confident in Hickey. Not at all. He really struggled to keep himself composed and answer the questions without constant re-direction of thought. He couldn't complete sentences there for a minute. I can only hope he is a better behind the scenes guy than he is publically representing the team. I would love to hear comments from the GMs he worked under.

 

Did not catch the whole thing but I expected Ross to have to answer harder questions. I would have been curious to hear why he gave Hickey only a 2 year deal which is clearly not a regular length for a GM contract. Would also loved hear about the candidates who turned down the job when offered. Unless I missed some good parts, I think the media went pretty soft today.

 

totally a softball game.....totally disappointed in the local media.

 

I wasn't shocked that Ross didn't "care" about what others thought of the hire, or the team's perception among the league. He was probably not going to address that question and admit even paying attention to it. However, I assure you if he is worth his history in business and commerce, he is probably aware of what has been said. My concern is this. If he did his due diligence and missed some of the content being discussed about his personal behavior while with the Bucs (e.g., interviewing habits, treatment of co-workers), that concerns me. I realize you miss things and I have hired people myself, and seriously missed flaws. I have personally hired some terrible people. I have learned what I missed. I can only hope they seriously analyzed what they got in Hickey.

 

Listening to interview on phinsiders...wants consistant ..physical team. Winning starts up front. Wants to push the envelope with finding talent. Believes in creating a competitive environment.

Listening to Hickey on the Finsiders. He keeps harping on the importance of being psychical and having a good offensive line. I like that.

 

Knows made mistakes not afraid to change things if they dont work..

I suspect he will do better in discussing his goals in that kind of format vs a press conference.

 

So, he wants essentially the same stuff that every other GM wants.

really wants physical players..hard tacklers..believes that trumps a scheme. Thats what he wants the identity of our team to be. Not about winning the division...about winning a Lombardi.

You ain't going to the playoffs from the AFC East, much less winning it all, unless you beat the Patriots. Is it just me, or does that sound like a dig at the Dion Jordan pick?

 

Unless there was a teleprompter, he was not reading off anything. He never looked down at a prepared speech or a note pad. He was just talking from memory it looked to me.

Selling the team to Ross was probably what will help keep the team here for years to come. Not too many billionaires were lining up to buy the team at its low point and the ones that were, had other venues in mind.

Well... this didnt take long.... the "critics" already setting the table to start their complaining. Here i thought Ireland leaving would at least shut them up.... for a year. The whole point is obviously that there has to be something for them to complain about. Many come here for that purpose only. It really is Weird/Sad.

 

He meant it was generic GM speech, not that he was using an actual script. Unless I totally missed his point.

Dude, we got turned down by all the people we wanted and settled for the guy who was probably going to get fired from a worse team than ours.

How can we praise things?

Jeff was mediocre, and we were tired of that. But this guy, by all accounts, is poor at his job. And everyone and their Mom thinks he's a total a-hole, apparently.

So… yeah. Not sure whence the optimism?

If we win and make the playoffs it will more likely be in spite of Ross and Hickey not thanks to them.

 

I am also willing to bet that Vegas rates the Dolphins odds to make the next Superbowl as worse than the odds we had last season.

But of course that's just haters and conspiracy stuff, not people knowing their ****.

And based off your sig (and plenty of other recent posts), you're not leaving yourself much room to criticize anyone for how they present themselves to others.

 

I think he's a ****ing moron. And the amount it upsets me is directly proportionate to how much it hurts that I feel he is destroying a team I love.

It's at least a step above the apathy that's beginning to set in with some. That's the next possibility, and I hope not to end up there.

By the way, I've kept most (by far most) of my feelings about Ross in the rants section. But yes, I think he's a moron, stupid, idiotic, incompetent, spineless, desperate to be liked, low in social confidence, insensate, sluggish, simple, clueless and so on….

A buffoon, goof, buffo, dummy, idiot, simpleton, moron, wishy-wasky, indecisive, clueless, boob, imbecile… until I exhaust my vocab, head to the thesaurus, exhaust that and come back for more.

I understand it's not fun reading for those who do not share the opinion. I don't know what to tell you. I come here to express my thoughts AND feelings about this team. I could certainly stop posting if I could stop caring, but that hasn't happened yet.

That said, I don't agree at all that I am behaving in any way comparable to a man who seems clueless about how to run a business he consciously decided to get involved in, and that is worth somewhere in the vicinity of a billion dollars. I take better ****ing care of belongings that cost $10 than this guy does his big shiny investment.

So rather than insinuating something about me… and how I 'present' myself, just PM me and say what you think of me and let's get that over with so I don't have to tolerate thinly veiled implications that are clearly not complimentary. I may complain about the owner, but I stay within TOS.
