I can't argue with suspending Pouncey and firing Turner at this point, its obvious this stuff went above and beyond normal hazing and locker room "boys being boys" stuff. I was in the Army and we were all subjected to a lot of ridicule but there was always a line, some of this stuff would have gotten people demoted or removed from a unit if it came out, this stuff is over the line and people are going to get justifiably punished over it. The defense of this stuff by fans is either ignorant or a sign of having some deep problems understanding reality.

I disagree. I do not think it is above and beyond normal hazing. We already had the Kluwe allegations in Minnesota.

I honestly think this is average locker room behavior.

Joe Philbin was either complicit in this or is simply just deaf, blind and stupid. Either way it's utterly shocking he's going to survive this.

If it is, it won't be. The NFL has image problems in certain quarters, and it's time for highly compensated professionals to act in a way that is fan friendly. Being racists and homophobes isn't fan friendly.

It is very clear from this that he has very little to do with the actual coaching of the team from the findings. Why do we have him?

That's the one saving grace here. This was amazingly inappropriate and wrong, but it wasn't at least toward Martin done with hostile intent. That's why it shouldn't be the harshest penaltes available.

Richie's texts were released last week, which was acknowledged in the Wells Report. I think that onus in the latter for not protecting the identity of Player A in this case. It is fitting that Incognito's frustration with the report not coming out may have actually delayed it further.

This is nuts. He had a one strike rule in his contract. Another reason why Ireland is gone. Page 67 "Many of the player personnel choices at issue here (such as the decisions to sign Incognito and draft Martin) reflect Ireland’s judgments. On January 7, 2014, the Dolphins announced a mutual decision to part ways with Ireland."

This is why Philbin couldn't get along with Ireland. After the golf course incident Philbin wanted Incognito gone and Ireland said no. Going against what Philbin wants in his players and contributing heavily to this **** storm.

Well, it was pretty obvious that the locker room would know who player A and the unnamed assistant are...how many Asian assistants that get harassed daily do you think are inside the organization?

Ultimately though, I think Pouncey and Jones will get a slap on the wrist BECAUSE the league will make huge examples out of Turner and Ireland. After all, if they had not gone to drastic lengths to cover this up, then there's a chance that Philbin would have ended this far before it got to Martin walking off. I can't see the league coming down that hard on the players though because it says repeatedly that Martin was not singled out...they all talked trash to each other.

Then again, I'll say it now for the record that this entire report is bull****. Wells didn't need 3 1/2 months to report this; that time was necessary because he was being instructed by the league to shape it for maximum damage control. There's no way you release a report of this caliber directly to the media on day one, without giving the responsible parties a chance at damage control. That's why it said Ritchie and other players were guilty...but not really trying to harass or hurt anyone. In fact, everyone has some type of defense in writing except for Turner and Ireland...because they're meant to take the fall.

At least Jerry, Incognito are gone.

New a new O-line coach and Philbin and Ross should sit down with Pouncey and slap some sense into him. Let him know this is his only warning. Clearly Philbin needs to make some changes in his locker room management style.

This is ridiculous, you are supposed to be professionals. Not high school kids

In the report, investigators say ...one of the offensive lineman was "often was called a 'f*g' or 'f*ggot' and was 'accused of sucking d*ck and pissing while sitting down, asked where's your boyfriend?"

Investigators also say one of the linemen was once physically restrained by Pouncey -- who told Jerry to "come get some *****."

"Jerry responded by touching [the player's] buttocks in a way that simulated anal penetration."

The report says Dolphins offensive line coach Jim Turner was aware of the running joke that [one of the linemen] was gay ... and on at least one occasion participated in the taunting.

Wells does a lot right, but he sure doesn't hide who his sources are. The Dolphins only have one asst. trainer of Japanese descent.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 1m
Naohisa Inoue is a native of Japan and went to Fuji University. Anyone with a media guide can find this information easily.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 1m
The malicious physical attack on Martin occurred at Pouncey's house at his Christmas party. Incognito pinned him down, punched him.

Report determines Vegas fine was not intentional harassment and no one expected Martin to pay. That was originally at heart of story.

So, in reality, after all the wait for this report, it doesn't really blame anyone for anything. It really doesn't say anything that we didn't know, save for the behavior towards the Japanese American trainer. We all suspected Turner was involved and he was. We all suspected that Martin's mental makeup was the catalyst of this and it was. We all suspected that RI was the ringleader and was wildly inappropriate....pretty much all the time and he was. Philbin didn't lie when he said that Martin never approached him and he was unaware of some of the things going on in the locker room and he didn't. Traditionally, the locker room is the players domain, not the coaches so it's not too far fetched that Philbin wasn't in on things. There isn't much we didn't know/suspect before the investigation.

At this point, as was said in the past, there is no 'smoking gun' and now the punishment phase comes about. I can't see how Turner is going to be retained, mainly because he tried to intervene after the investigation started... Pouncey, JJ and Cogs will get their suspensions or whatever and Martin will be released to go wuss out in some other locker room. Cogs won't be retained but likely for other reasons than his part in this fiasco and be allowed to poison some other locker room, so that suspension we won't have to worry about. Pouncey is building up a history here with the league and whatever he gets will affect us negatively since he's the only real OL we have on the roster. JJ escaped the scrutiny this year because Clabo and Martin were so awful, so losing him won't hurt much anyway. And other than Turner, I don't see any coaches being punished... You can say that the buck stops at the HC, but unlike the Saints situation, Payton was involved in the 'cover-up' there and that's why he got suspended...

The sad thing is that Ross has a habit of 'mulling' things around forever before making a move. He needs to be quick and decisive before the league steps in. Approach the league first and say "this is what we're going to do", but he'll wait to see what the league doles out... In his defense, he may not be able to impose his own punishments, the league may very well take that out of his control, as they did with the Saints...the big difference being that in the Saint's case, multiple coaches were involved...

On another level of this, it likely changes the locker room settings in every NFL franchise from this time on... Having been a part of college locker rooms, it's a pretty tight knit group. That will change and may not be for the better, but we'll have to see. The things that transpired, even tho they may be part of a lot of locker rooms (all leagues/sports), in this day and age went over the limits of acceptability. Controls will be put in place and that could hurt the 'team building' of some NFL organizations, the main thing that separates the NFL from other sports...

This was likely bound to happen to some NFL team, unfortunately it's happened to us. On the other hand, if there are some suspensions of players and coaches (up to and including Philbin) then it likely gives Philbin and Hickey another year or two here before Ross has to actually fire someone....

One last question: If Philbin is suspended, who becomes the HC - pro tem ??
