We lost the game in the 9th inning (Grilli blew it, Brian Morris to close please??) but it was SO worth it.
Enjoy ike davis' s strikeouts. What ever you gave the mets, it was too much. There's potential but he can't hit certain pitches. Off speed stuff and mid 90s fastballs wear him out.
You better be looking for another closer. Grilli has sucked this year. I can't imagine he'll have that role much longer...
He has his moments. Like I said there is potential but it wasn't happening in NY for whatever reason.
Horrendous. Career vs LHP: 406 AB 12 HR 202 BA 597 OPS Career vs RHP 1109 AB 56 HR 257BA 831 OPS FWIW the last few years hes also been a very slow starter. He hasnt been the same player since he had a bout with Valley Fever a few years ago and then a concussion in Colorado colliding with Wright. If you can get him fixed you'll have another Pedro Alvarez type player where he will hit 240ish but slug 30 homers and play decent D. Hes not a clubhouse headache or anything, he seems genuinely liked actually. I think (and its just speculative), part of his issue is confidence and if you lose that in NY youre not getting it back when youre getting booed by 40000
.240 and 30 HR would be a HUGE welcome in Pittsburgh at 1B. And we don't BOO our own players here. EVER... Pittsburgh has a lot more classy fans than NY.
Check the splits. Pre ASB 201 Post ASB 255 He was at or below 200 well in to July that year and then heated up for a good 2 months in to mid september when he reverted back to sucking. Last year he was sent down to the minors
Good stuff Cash. When you get to spend a day at the park like that the outcome means nothing (of course it would make it that much better if the Pirates won....).
Steelers fans are drunk idiots. Pirates fans are intelligent and classy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Lol
lol. I have a warm place in my heart for the 70s teams. The clemente pirates and the willie stargell "we are family" teams were fun to watch
He has his moments. he hit a walk off the first week of the season. Followed it up by sucking the next few weeks. Like I said, theres potential if you guys get him righted. Every mets fan I know was afraid of a Chris Davis style breakout with less homers because he can definitely hit em far when he does hit them. It wouldnt be the only example of a player recently leaving a team and going elsewhere and being really good. Last year when the Cards acquired former Brewer Closer John Axford he was rocking like a 5 ERA. They told him he was tipping pitches the last few years and he was rocking a 1ish era with St Louis the rest of the way. Its not just the old "change of scenery". Teams know or think they know whats wrong when they gamble on a player.
And FWIW, Id rather see a team thats new to the party like Pittsburgh do something in the playoffs (if my mets arent going to which I dont think they will this year) then watch ATL choke again or watch STL win again.
My boy and I at the game tonight against the Yankees of the National league, the mighty Cardinals. Neil SKYWALKER delivers a career game!
DAMNIT. We are pretty effed without Cutch. Gonna be at least a month, they're saying. Have tickets to Thursday's game, too. This is some bullsh-t the DBacks pulled.
Totally classless, Kirk Gibson and that organization is an embarassment. Really hope this doesn't kill the Pirates playoff chances.
