Could they though? What if someone took James before 27?

We really don't know what could have happened.

We got a player we needed. I can't be upset.

I believe Hickey knows he screwed up now! The pressure is on him to get his head out of his ***.

No matter what, it was a poorly played hand. To take James and not trade down first made this a poor pick. I'm not going to have a pissing contest with you about how knowledgeable you and I are as fans. You can't argue with the fact that our offense has been below average for many years. Has been boring to watch, and has had no explosiveness whatsoever.

Yeah we got a RT. We needed a RT. If you look at the big picture, you will undrestand that teams don't win because they have first round RT.

    Bills are better
    Jests are better
    Patriots already were better

The rest of the division is trembling with fear.

We've been doing the same thing for years. Taking a lesser player at a position of need, and you seriously can't be upset?

Maybe because James was the last guy with a first round grade?

True, does he fit what "Coach Joe" wants to do on offense?

    Answer to that is "yes"

If we were in love with him, why no trade up for him? If we were not, then why not trade back?

Appears to be a scheme fit that the Staff fell in love with

Did you WATCH our offensive line last year? This isn't like needing a receiver or a linebacker. This was a red alert need.

And this is why people within the NFL laughed when we hired him as our GM. my bet is Ross hired him so that Philbin could put his hand up Hickeys *** and use his mouth to talk like a puppet.

One would have to be quite the Miami pessimist to assume that he would be there at 27 and no one would select him beforehand.

Could I be wrong that someone would have? Sure. But anyone who's declaring the whole "James would have been there at 27" as fact is ignoring possible variables.

Says a non football guy. A GMs job is to manage the board and your picks. You pick a guy who is commonly regarded as a 2nd or 3rd rounder, and refuse trade down opportunities..it's a failure of managing the draft TODAY.

I don't think they picked a lesser player, they just left a pick on the table. The player itself was a good pick, he was rated by many as the 5th best tackle.

I doubt he made the call. My gut and some other rumors I've heard say that a big reason that Hickey got the job was that he was willing to not demand final say over Philbin. This pick feels like a Philbin pick. A coach would want to fill an obvious hole, but could also be clueless about draft value and how to work the draft.

Did you ever see our WR's separate?

We have our number 2 and number 3 WR's coming off of injury and our number 1 who severely underwhelmed and is overpaid.

oh excuse me marino. lol seriously? Again you don't know what the trade down opportunities are. They can vary you know. Especially if I think another trade is a slam dunk.

That's opinion and I wonder if Lazor liked James better, or was not a huge fan of Moses who he knew well.

Problem is, Wr corps is filled, and competently filled, Te squad is iffy, Cb's..arguable..with Taylor and Davis in the fold, S is manned..

LG though..wiiiide open..best Te's are off the board, could use a MLB welcome to the Cap Mr Ellerbe and Mr Wheeler

The thing that you are missing is that there isn't a huge difference between James and Moses. We are at pick 28 and not a single tackle has been picked since us at 19.

That is pure conjecture. No one knows how long James would have lasted had we traded down hoping to land him later.

I agree with needing a receiver, but it's not even close to being the need offensive line was.

Plus, this is a deep draft for receivers.

Not if you understand the importance of knowing what other team's needs are. It was pretty unlikely that any of the teams following Miami would pick OL. And as a matter of fact, not a single OL has been picked since. Does that mean it's 100% guarantee? Of course not, but it was pretty darn likely.

Yeah it's just a coincidence that we fielded trade offers and New Orleans just so happened to trade up with the team immediately following us for a player they obviously coveted greatly. Yup, New Orleans coveted Cooks enough to trade up to 20 for him but didn't covet him enough to trade up one more spot to 19 at the same 3rd round cost. C'mon man, bring your A-game.

It's right in front of your face bro. Trade happened right after us...if you choose to not see it, so be it. When they talk about reaches in an hour, after round 1 and wasted opportunity...we will be the focal point of that discussion.

Now for fun, would not mind the Alabama Tackle in Rd #2 and James playing LG

His knees go, plug James in at RT, they manage, we fill two huge holes

Not really. As I said above, none of the teams that followed were expected to draft OL and in fact none did. It wasn't pure conjecture. It was a fairly easy educated guess.
